Another bad experience from Meucci

Was going to buy a Meucci when I got back into playing pool about 16 months ago...went down to Omega Billiards in Fort Worth TX to try a few out...I didn't hit a single one, every single cue from Meucci had cracks in the clear-coat, two had cracked joints, one even had a chip of clear-coat out of it about 1/4 inch by 1 inch...the smallest price tag on any of them was three hundred more than I spent on my McDermott G602 that I ended up buying...finished quality doesn't lie...and I will never own a Meucci because of it.

Oh NOOO!! theft again...thought Bob and/or close family had managerial positions at the facility
Poor 'ol Barb. She's like Meucci's official mushroom: they keep her in the dark and feed her lots of s^*t. Seriously though, they really outta just shut the doors.

Oh come on...Meucci makes great cues.

Even the sponsored players are selling them and signing them for free then pushing them out the door.

Jayson Shaw sold a dozen in just a few days on Facebook...LOL

Bargain prices everyone was saying....:boring2:

What's sad is Bob REALLY know his stuff and IS capable of making cues that play great. Why he is allowing his company/name/legacy to spin down the toilet(again) is crazy.

I had a Meucci back in the mid '80s. It warped with in 6 months.
Some people knock Chinese made cues.
I have a Chinese made Lucasi that is 8 years old.
Its still as straight as a cue can be and the finish is still like the day i bought it.

I lived in Memphis and was told several stories about Bob Meucci and his cue making.

I was told that he often didnt pay his employees or only paid them partial of the money owed to them.

Bob became very wealthy over the years from folks that bought his cues, and I still see quite a few of his cues, mostly with league players.

He appears to be con-man and someone that takes advantage of people. IMO he is the Kevin Trudeau of production cues.

I have to smile and shake my head when I hear folks bragging about a Meucci collection or a Meucci cue. Its like having a collection of turds and keeping them on display.

I have had at least 100 of them over the years, and I bought and sold them and probably made more money off them than with any other cue. I bought them for $100 and sold them the next day for $150 or $200. I haven't owned one for years and I probably won't own another one ever, even though they are an easy turn.

But, here on AZ there was a nice young man that bought a "custom" from Joss, that was an absolute piece of crap that they wouldnt stand behind until some big money cue collectors on here made a phone call. Janes seems like he might be a cousin of Bob Meucci by way of customer service.

Like one of the posts on this thread, maybe it is better to go and get a China made cue. You sure as hell cant say their quality is worse, that just isnt possible on some of these domestic production cues.

The part that bothers me the most, is Joss, Meucci, and others COULD BE great cues made in the USA. But instead they have gone the way of alot of other things and not caring about the reputation and just trying to make a quick buck and treating folks like suckers.

I hope these clowns get what they deserve.....

Best of rolls to my AZ brothers, sorry for my rant.

Ken

Really good rant.

At one time if somebody spoke up about Meucci's quality issues, others would jump in to defend the company. Not so much anymore I guess. I wonder if MeucciMan79 still works for them?

LOL...no he does not work for Uncle Bob.

My first cue was a meucci, owned about 5 of them in the late 80's. Picked up a joss and some mcdermotts, and never went back to meucci cues. I thought about buying one about 1999 when I started playing again, and decided to get a mcdermott instead.

We have people around town that still like meucci's, but I'm not sure why.

I guess as long as these Meucci bashing threads exist I'll continue to put in my two turds. Y'all get tired of hearing it.

Had my Meucci 9 years, bought in 08', spent the first four years at least in my car, All The Time. Live in mid Michigan.

Zero Warp. Can your cue do that?

Guess I got lucky and got a good one.

I know a lot of Meucci owners, never heard a bad story other than a few ferrules cracking from a guy that works on cues. He then had plenty to say about predator shaft ferrule and wood blowing out.

A long time ago I had some spare Meucci's originals and parts, maybe 4 or 5 cues and shafts. I decided I was just going to give them away to somebody who would restore and appreciate them. Couple of the cues were pretty good if I recall. He was such a big fan of Meucci's and a nice guy, so I decided to give them to him. Then I guess he actually went to work for Meucci.

He isn't posting anymore. Maybe he changed his name? if you know anything, please PM me.

After seeing Max Eberle's recomendation on You Tube - that Bob's back!

In November, I placed an order for a Meucci cue. Paid in full to Meucci themselves. Barbara, the manager, said they would have to make it in house and said to call her back in a week and she would have an estimated time of completion.

Week after week, I called her back and she still did not have a completion date. About a month later she asked me to send her an email with my request. Finally, in late December she sent me an email and said my cue was on the way to me.

I received the cue around January 8th and they sent me the wrong cue. It was their entry level model. With such a failure in customer service on their end, I quickly reshipped the cue back to them unplayed/unused.

I had asked Barbara for a full refund. They got my returned cue mid-January and Barbara said she would have their accountant, Nicole, refund my money to my credit card.

So she transferred me to Nicole. Nicole said their company did not have any funds to refund me as their company was broke and she would try to refund me at the end of that week.

Well to this day they have failed to refund my money and I had to place a dispute with my credit card company and they will follow up with them.

Any one else have issues? Bob is definitely not back!

Bob doesn't make cues anymore. Darren is the main cue maker, but most of the business now is repair work. Even the BMC's are made by Darren. Your best bet is to buy a Meucci pro shaft for whatever butt you like. They play fantastic

I think there's still a lot of good folks out there that stand by their Meucci sticks. It is the brand name that does seem to be most polarizing in many stick related threads however. To be honest - I thought I'd see more "bad McDermott" stuff than Meucci - but I guess their sticks have really improved over the years. I've shot with my share of Meucci sticks over the years, still own a couple, but it's not my favorite. Still - I have nothing "bad" to say about the ones I've shot with or owned. Then again, it's got to be a pretty bad stick for me to complain. ;-)
