Another bad experience from Meucci

I've got an arsenal of Meucci cues, both old and new. Some of the really old ones have a little cue roll like any olden, vintage cue that may have spent a few cold nights in the back of a car. None of my "new" shafts have anything wrong at all.

I just finished picking up my latest cue (21st Century #2 with an upgrade to The Pro shaft) directly handed to me from Bob Meucci himself at his factory in Bahalia on rte 302. It plays beautifully.

Barbara gave me a personally guided tour of the factory and I got to meet many of the workers and to see their talents fast at work.
My wife and I were there 4 hours visiting with Barbara, Julia and her husband, Mark, and of course, Bob himself and Elvin, the shop general manager.

We are delighted with their professionalism, dedication to artistry, performance and durability.

I've got lots of Meucci's and I love each and every one of them and I think very highly of the Meucci name as it relates to cue making and personality.

Hmmmm so that's why the work isn't returned in a timely manner, they do impromptu tours that last half a shift!! =)

Good customer service goes a lonnnnng way in making people happy and getting repeat customers, plus generating good word of mouth. Without it, you can make a decent product but nobody will want to deal with you. This is probably rule number one in running any type of business where you deal with the public. I learned this lesson as a kid working for my uncle in his appliance store. His customers loved him!

glad you've had such positive experiences.

too bad this seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

I still have my meucci originals birdseye plain jane that I used as my player from the late 70's thru the 80's. I love that cue and still have it to this day. Lots of fond memories. :)

Somewhere along the line Meucci lost their way, or maybe more specifically, Bob did.

I have seen a lot of the newer Meucci cues that are very poor quality. I dealt with them first-hand a few years ago for a friend who was getting the royal-runaround. They did the same to me.

Their performance felt similar to incompetence but it wasn't that. It was actually a complete disregard and lack of consideration for their customer.

best,
brian kc

The workers continued working except for a 1/2 hour lunch break while we were there.

Bob is the one who took the time to play pool with my wife and me; to give me a few pointers on pool stance and aim; and to show us a few trick shots.

I also played the banjo and fiddle for him as he had never had a "live" Bluegrass performance in his business before. He did have three of his workers come out to hear the music for a few minutes, though. They were very appreciative to Bob for the little "cultural" break.

A couple of my buddies went to his shop about a month ago when they were driving by. Bob took them out for sushi & gave them a tour & played a few racks with them too. I've had good convo's with Bob myself at the expo every year. Trust me I've never been a Meucci guy or lover either. Will tell you though, I shot with a couple buddies Ultimate Weapon shafts & they play great, it's actually making me almost want to purchase my 1st Meucci.

Bob's a nice guy, actually very charming. But charm never made a cue or satisfied a disgruntled customer.

I hate these threads ... I understand them ... I just hate hearing about bad things.

That's all very nice but his cues are still just fancy firewood. To each his own.

The ironic thing about this thread is that it seems Bob is great in person but the opposite when it comes to things sent in to his shop. I know several cue makers I'd only do business with in person. If they have a cue in their hand, I can see, feel look over, hit a ball or two with then I may do business with them. I'd never send them a deposit or a cue to work on. Odd how different people are when your face to face with them.

Was Barb, with the support of TOP MANAGEMENT, able to get a refund to the original poster?

After seeing Max Eberle's recomendation on You Tube - that Bob's back!

In November, I placed an order for a Meucci cue. Paid in full to Meucci themselves. Barbara, the manager, said they would have to make it in house and said to call her back in a week and she would have an estimated time of completion.

Week after week, I called her back and she still did not have a completion date. About a month later she asked me to send her an email with my request. Finally, in late December she sent me an email and said my cue was on the way to me.

I received the cue around January 8th and they sent me the wrong cue. It was their entry level model. With such a failure in customer service on their end, I quickly reshipped the cue back to them unplayed/unused.

I had asked Barbara for a full refund. They got my returned cue mid-January and Barbara said she would have their accountant, Nicole, refund my money to my credit card.

So she transferred me to Nicole. Nicole said their company did not have any funds to refund me as their company was broke and she would try to refund me at the end of that week.

Well to this day they have failed to refund my money and I had to place a dispute with my credit card company and they will follow up with them.

Any one else have issues? Bob is definitely not back!

did you get a refund?

I was getting excuse after excuse, the last time I spoke to her she said she did not have anyone in her company that knew how to process my CC refund. And she claims to be a manager but does not know how to process a refund. lol

So I had asked for Bob and she gave me excuse after excuse - he's gone for lunch - he went to the bank - he didn't come in today. After a few days of trying to get a hold of him, I gave up...:(

My Credit card company is now dealing with them.

Be warned everyone as long as Barbara is working for this company, customer service will always be on the backburner.

Maybe you should show up there and then run up a $400 lunch tab? Seriously though I hope you get this sorted out. Getting the run around sucks!

i don't think Barbara is responsible for policy decisions

Got my first Meucci 2 months ago. A Pro Series 3 with 2 Pro shafts. Played with it every other day. After a month some of the wood threads in the shaft started to break off. Every time I would hit a few hard shots, I was sure to find a few pieces of wood falling out when I unscrewed it. The cue seemed to play good even though it is very backweighted and I could not seem to get used to the balance, even after 2 months of playing with it. Am also a little disappointed that all of the black in my cue is plastic and not ebony. Oh well. I just went back to my Schon with Predator 314-2 shaft, and all I can say is I immediately started playing better. It seems like the Schon Predator combo is a lot more forgiving during play.

Did you call Bob Meucci and let him know about the shaft(s)? The Pro Series cues are back-weighted similar to the old-style Meucci cues and lately he uses an aluminum bolt in the joint to help keep the weight in the back of the cue.

First i've heard of bad Pro shafts. Things must really messed up at Meucci. These have been their only saving grace lately. Sounds like the death-rattle for Meucci.
