Another way to get the LD

You state it exhibits the characteristics of what you would expect from an LD shaft. Do you have any test data on this shaft? Any data comparing deflection vs other LD cues? o?

The shaft was compared to other LD shafts by me and another player. I have played with and sold many LD shafts for McDaniel cues, but do not prefer them. The player that participated has played for decades with a regular Maple shaft and recently switched to a LD shaft. Both our conclusions were the same about the ferrule-less shaft. It plays the same as other LD shafts we had used, with no increased performance, or no noticeable decrease either. Hope this answers your question, and thanks again for taking time to read the thread.

Sounds interesting and looks super cool. Someone remarked about Tiger and OB shafts being made overseas but they are made in the USA also as far as I know, Predator is made overseas. Most companies like the ones mentioned above and others like Cuetec break down in diagrams or explain how the shaft gets the LD, can you explain why it is LD?

Another great question, thanks Lenny. We are a small custom shop, and for years have fitted LD blanks to our cues. Over that time we have seen how they arrived at the lower end mass in their shafts. We used that knowledge to reduce the end mass in one of our shafts. A few test shafts later we had what we started out to achieve, a LD shaft for our customers. Lenny, I want to thank you as well, for taking time to read about our shaft and asking questions.

I've been using LD shafts since 1997, and exclusively since 2000. Pre-cat 314's until the last year, then a while with a Z2, and have been using OB1's exclusively for some time now. I still have my old pre-cats & the Z2. I also have a McDaniel Q88 w/ 2 McDaniel shafts & and an OB1 fit for it by Jess June of World Class, and a Davis full splice $CASH$ cue w/ standard ivory ferrule shaft, and an OB1 fit for it by Tommy. All of the above in 5/16-14 piloted. Tommy is fitting one of these new LD $CASH$ shafts for my cue now.
When I get it, I'll be putting it through the paces against my other shafts - LD & otherwise - and will give my impressions of the various shafts, as well as the Cash cue we are still in the process of "custom tweaking".
This is a very dedicated, attentive, personable, and quality driven group that quite obviously strives to exceed every expectation.

Someone asked if we could fit our ferrule-less shaft to their cue from another maker. If the cue is 5/16x14 or 3/8-11, you will have to send the butt, and we can make one for you.

every time i see someone offer something new or better,i am amazed at the numberof people who complain aboue the price. If you can't afford or just think its too high ,why not show some decency to your fellow man who is trying to make an honest living?I have personally bought over 6 items from Tommy and paid his asking price,I made an offer privately on some others, some he took, some he did not take.
But I tell you one the he has impressed me as an honest fair human being.I met him here on AZ and I have come to admire him as a man of knowledge and integrity.

Whether this shaft works for you or not I can''t say,but one thing i can say with confidence"tommy put some deal of time into experimentation, and he honestly thinks the results show that this shaft will improve play for certain people"
So if its worth $250 to improve your game, buy one,it probably will help and no body will think you a a sucker for taking a chance on Tommy's new product

I don't think anyone was complaining about the price. I did see some questions on it which is perfectly fine. If you go to a car dealership and see two cars with similiar features but one cost more than the other you will probably ask why. I think it is the same thing here.

I agree, and the more questions, the better.

Great, Tommy! I hope you've had some success with others giving them a try.Looking forward to checking it out!

Rec'd my $ LD shaft today, w/ requested Everest tip.. I've been playing with LD shafts for many years - Pre-Cat 314 - Z2 - and now OB1's. Let me tell ya folks - these are the real thing. Fantastic spin velocity generation with reasonable & workable tip eccentricity position. (That workable part is what's most important.) The hit quality is softened by the absence of the ferrule as well. If you think of a 314 as 1 and an OB1 as 5 on a scale, these run about 3.25.
As far as lowered deflection is concerned, I ran a few racks with the $ LD, and a few with my $ fitted OB1 - then I hit some shots at various speeds with both for feel - and then I went to the amped up tip positions & speeds to get a comparison. IMO, if you want a good comparison of relative deflection characteristics, get right to the inside english at velocity - low & high tips. Also check your off angle cuts for 3 rail draw shape - inside & outside.
The $CASH$ LD shaft not only holds up with flying colors, but I really can't say that I could see any appreciable difference vs the OB1 - and that is a tall claim.
An exceptionally high quality, conventional 1 piece construction shaft, with feel, spin generation, and low deflection qualities equivalent to the OB1's that I'm very familiar with...
This is special!!
Kudos to Tommy & crew. When they thought they'd come up with the essence of what is required to reduce shaft deflection & retain spin generation - I think they were spot on.

Thanks for a thorough and unbiased review, Chris. You playing experience with LD shafts makes you eminently qualified to evaluate the shafts characteristics properly. I hope you have many years of fine playing with your CA$H cue and LD shaft.

i thought you only made them for cash cues though?

You are right, that was the idea at first. After a few months, because we were receiving requests for the shaft fitted to other cues, we decided to try and make them available for other cues. Right now, all standard joint pins but the uni-lock are in play, so order away!
