Cue intrigued me so I bought it. After looking at it, I am leaning towards it being a Paradise but not sure as I haven't seen many widows made by him. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering who grabbed that! lol!

I almost pulled the trigger on that one but pursued a local deal on another cue.

I think you got a nice deal no matter who made it. But who made it is definitely the question.

I looked at that thing so many times. Couldn't figure it out. Now we have better pics. And my ignorance is just in higher resolution.

Is an interesting cue. I have looked around and I have seen many examples of Paradise cues that jive with this one. As far as a Rich, this isn't a Rich. At least I don't believe. Pin, buttcap, joint, bumper and collars don't look right to be his.

As the OP said, not aware of many, if any, merry widows by Frank Paradise. Doesn't mean there aren't a few around. The joint collars and joint tenons look like they could be Paradise.

The buttplate does not look like Paradise. I'm not aware of a cue Frank made with a rubber bumper. Could have been modified to fit a bumper later. But that would have been a project, as the weight bolt would have to be recessed more than his typical cues started with. I don't think it's a Paradise.

All the best,
WW

Only seen a few widows of his but not like this. I don't believe the bumper is original to the cue as there was another mark from another bumper. From what I can find, I have found many examples of Paradise that have the same collars and pin. Like I said, interesting cue. Also, if I remove the weight bolt, the buttcap comes off. Is it possible that the buttcap has been replaced? Could be. But I don't think the butt was rebuilt as the wood looks right on.

Here are some pics of other FP cues. The one I am referencing has the black band above the buttcap, same collars and rubber bumper. Even has the same wrap. I think this was just a custom ordered thing. And last pic shows another widow he made as well as another cue with same buttcap and bumper.

My guess is this cue came out of the palmer shop or perhaps it was made by someone who worked there and moved on. It looks a lot like a model 2 from the third catalog but made using earlier rings and joint collar and before production was moved overseas. Just my guess

Something about the grooved markings on those shafts and the story about it being "fitted" to the player is familiar.

In my memory it was a prominent maker associated with those things. But I don't remember who it was.
