Dan Ackroyd did a real funny bit on SNL, playing an elderly man who was a male prostitute, putting on all this equipment and supporters etc. Reminds me of someone.....

This would really be a big turnaround. It would also be a prime example of the way "money talks".

CueTec and Earl badmouth each other and then make a deal to continue in business together.
I think he was joking. God, at least I hope he was.

According to my sources, Earl is in negotiations with CueTec to return as a player Representative. He has convinced the company to move the production of his line to the United States. This product line will not have the fiberglass coating. The new cues will hit just like a Southwest and retail for around $149.00.

I love it when people use that line...makes me laugh...:D

It's is hard to tell if someone is joking on the internet, without a couple of these -   ;) :D

If he was joking, it is my bad.
However, it wouldn't surprise me, if Earl and CueTec made a deal.

Hello,
For those of you who didn't spend hours of your life wading through it (!!) this line is a reference to the arguement between hardluckjones and John Barton over in the Chinese Slave Labour pool cues thread. That's why there was a call for hardluckjones to be banned in this thread.

Hope this helps!!

Chris (Chrstc).

I heard a rumor tonight that Earl is retiring. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

If the rumor is true, what a damn pity it is.

Earl Strickland is the greatest American pool player ever, and his accomplishments in the sport are more plentiful than any other American player. Yet, there are some in the American pool culture who seem to enjoy ridiculing him as if he was a monster.

Shame on all of you who take joy in these stupid threads, all created for the purpose of bashing an American legend. Shame, I say. When I read threads demeaning Earl Strickland, threads which continue to expand ad nauseum with as much mean-spirited crap as folks can muster, I am extremely saddened, so much so that I may just take a hiatus from this forum for a while. I don't like it one bit and reading this crap every single day is sickening, and if I stand in the minority, so be it.

I've never followed pool or anything. I've just been playing for a couple of years now in league and enjoy it for what it is. A few months ago I caught part of a tournament on TV. It was Earl playing 8-ball. I had no idea who he was and I couldn't believe the tantrum I saw him throw. I only remembered later what his name was. I never liked the guy since. First time I'd seen him that I can recall on TV. He attacked the other player and the crowd constantly through the match. Perhaps this is why people dig on him so much. I say he's earned any bashing he gets due to his behavior. Then again I'd say if he cared what people thought he wouldn't act that way.

just my thoughts on it

sure he is a great player and has great accomplishments. but he's an asshole. i admire his skill, but not as a person. are we supposed to hold this guy to different standards because he's great at pool?

If you knew him you might have a different opinion. He gets crazy on the table, but outside of that he is good to go. I have seen worse things happen (between friends) during a game of golf (pool) when someone doesnt cover their player and he gets out after 4 hours of work.

Hello JAM,
For what it's worth I totally agree with you about Earl as a player. His behaviour does cross the line sometimes but that's part of what makes him so exciting to watch. Personally I would certainly miss him if he retired.

Having said that, though, I honestly don't think this thread was created to bash Earl. People just want to know what cue he is using now that the Cuetec deal is apparently over. I know there are other threads here which are very critical of him but I don't think that was the original intention behind this one. Just my opinion of course.

Thanks,
Chris (Chrtsc).
