Any rambow cue fans out there. Eye candy here

Would anyone like to bet $1000 each, placed in escrow against an LOA for hercek or Rubino? We could always have some good fun with this one.

I have a VIN and title that says this is a 1987 Harley Davidson FXSTC, "Softail Custom".

I really like the cue, and I rarely like these old school cues. Do you play with it? Thanks for sharing.

I'll take this bet publically:

-LOA showing original construction and signature, with specs, and an x-ray of the cue.
-Don't care about the refinish, but if a handle is under that wrap, it's not a Rambow.
-Before picture of the cue's refinish

Classiccues posted on here, let's escrow with him if he wants, he's as solid as they get. I'll cover the cost of the x-ray if I lose this bet.

Any doofus can use a pencil, and machine a brass pin to look like a Rambow.

I have another taker with me and we will post up to 2k

I understand if this is just a vintage looking Davis blank, but it's sure as s*** not a Rambow as it left his shop

I take it you're ducking the bet now? Must not have wanted some good fun this time, thanks for answering our questions on if it was a real Rambow

Guy seems fishy

This racattach guy seems fishy. Ught it was weird back in May when he came on the scene all suddenly and wanted to buy 8-10 tascarellas. He said was for his collection. So I contacted him about my two tasc. Titlist I had. So we made a deal and when he got my cues he questioned me if my tasc were real. Etc. lol. I told him who I bought the, from etc. and he kept on about he thought they could be fake etc. but within. A very short time. He comes on az here and sells each one praising how vintage they are and how they are the greatest cues ever type stuff. Lol. Well here's the good part I'm getting to. During our conversation during negotiations and small talk etc. he tells me he has like 20 or 30 Tim Scruggs true sneaky unfinished butt blanks. That he bought a super long time ago. Can't remember who he said he bought from. Not sure he even told me that. So now we move forward to like a month or more ago. And he's on az asking and wanting all Scruggs sneakies and he's also just asking for Scruggs true sneaky shafts only. Now u tell me why someone would only want Scruggs sneaky shafts only. Why. So he can start counterfeiting his scrugg blanks he said he had for over like 20 years or whatever. And match the scrugg shafts with his old unfinished blanks. And now u take all that and he now has a Rambow cue that everyone says appears to be faked. And as everyone has seen he has a cue shop making sneakies etc. so I'm really wondering what is going on with this guy. Just my little experience with this guy. There is more. But I'm tired of typing now. Lol

He welched on his own bet about the Rambow, so there's that. "Appears to be fake" is a little generous.

Every cue and deal this guy lists makes my skin crawl. He lies frequently, I especially love how he flew an It's George Vinyl case in the For Sale section as Lizard Leather! WOW

I also thought it was interesting when he appeared and immediately started in with high end cues. I assumed he was a flipper that needed an image reboot. He too sent me offers about my tasc for sale. Glad I declined.

Best looking 70 year old shafts I've ever seen (still so thick?). One shaft looks original and one does not. Other than that the cue does look right to me though. How Mosconi could run 500 balls with that I don't know. He loved his Rambow though!

Mosconi's was a real Rambow. And, his favorite cue, according to him.

All the best,
WW

God, don't tell me Nick S. has reincarnated...

God, don't tell me Nick S. has reincarnated...

Mr Rack here did a few deals with the old J Holmes, I bet they are the same guy. If the mods check out who this Attach guy is, he may just as well be a banned con artist

God, don't tell me Nick S. has reincarnated...

Not sure what that means. But I posted a little of my experience I've had with this guy and feel something isn't rite about what he is doing with buying all these Scruggs sneaky Pete cues, so later he can take his 30 Scruggs blank butts. And finish them himself and sell them at 600 to 650 a pop. And people would think he is selling off a bunch of old ts sneakies. Since he thinks people will just think he bought all of them from his post of wanting to buy all Scruggs sneakies and shafts only.

Nope. It's not 100% mine yet. It's part of a group purchase I have but barring the LOA from Rubino it'll be mine. Test hit it and it's nice.

When I told the gentleman selling it to me that there were some questions on its authenticity, he's 100% confident it's genuine and ask me to take bets if anybody wanted to bet against the authenticity of the queue, so I posted it, more as a joke. However Scott at proficient billiards did the refinish on it keeping the original signature in tact, I will post some before photos below:

From these pics the cue looks like it had very little play at all.

Lets assume for kicks and giggles it is original, WHY on earth would anyone refinish a supposed Rambow is such great original condition?

It does not look like it is same cue. Look at veneers closely. To me before and after pictures show different cues.

WHY on earth would anyone refinish a supposed Rambow is such great original condition?

To put it in simple terms, because the billiards world stands alone in an overall lack of appreciation for originality. Cue owners place more importance on bright and shiny.

One nick in a forearm and most players will have a cue refinished. Dirty 50 year-old Cortland wraps are trashed in favor of modern linen from Atlas.
