Anyone Read The Science of Pocket Billiards?

I was about to buy this book and thought I would ask if anyone has read it and would like to give it a review. It has pretty good reviews in the amazon store but would like some feed back for them forum community. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

The book and author are phenomenal. You can not go wrong by owning this book. I have an original hard copy, signed first edition and two others that are loaners to friends that like to read and play.

The Science of Pocket Billiards

I have had a copy for many years. I scanned through it after seeing the first Post. It was signed by the author inside the front in 1990 and is close to excellent as new condition. It is a soft cover. I planned on selling it as soon as I could take pictures of that book and many others. It is a first edition and signed, so will take the best offer.

I lent my soft cover out and thought enough of the book to replace it with a hard cover. It is the only pool book I have.

If you really want a good read...pick up Jacks book "Upscale one pocket". Also an great read and a must own book for pool players, not just one pocket player..

Aloha

I bought this after reading upscale one pocket.mi'm very slowly working pmy way though it, though. IMHO, so far, very good.

For anybody thinking about getting the Science of One Pocket book, the real gem in the book IMO is the section with diagrams of 2 and 3 rail banking tracks. The rest is pretty basic, but a good read for a newer one pocket player who doesnt know the game.

The best part about the book, imho, are the jigs and devices that Jack made and set up to test his ideas.

Those give his claims credibility.

If you're into the science of how and why balls move, this one is a must to own.

It's the nuts and bolts of the game. A good book to have at your reach. Enjoy.

Yeah, I like Jack's books, they are pretty good reading. If you'll get the knowledge out of the book & learn the application on the table, in a little while you should be extremely happy that you did.

Knowledge without learned application is just an archive.

Jack passed away a few years back and left these treasures behind for all of us to enjoy. He was a wonderful man, humble yet very knowledgeable.

Thank you for all the feed back guys. I just ordered the book and am looking forward to reading it. I feel like understanding the science of pool will help my game in a few areas where I currently am struggling. Mostly just with kick and bank shots.

Jay,
Jack is still alive and kicking as far as I know. I just bought the hard copy I have and it was signed and dated just last fall. I just ordered another book from him from his EBay store. He is selling his books there and also his slingshots.

Aloha
