Anybody Going to Cookeville?

Well I guess I was wrong in what I hinted about. I apologize to John, Bobby, and any bankers that might be involved. It just didn't sound right to me...sorry. Johnnyt

The Rail Is Open

Hey Daniel,

I did wait a full minute before I hit the "Submit Reply" button. I knew alot of folks would take what I said not in the manner that it was intended. I have always known Johnny as one of the most stand-up people in pool.

I just think that with the publicity, etc., it may make one of them tighter, or it may make one of them looser. And it is a close enough game that one little factor other than pool might turn the tide either way. I just wouldn't bet the match because of all the publicity.

Again, I hope Pickle takes it off. He's a great player and has the ability to beat Archer on occasion. But if I were staking him, I don't think I would "open the rail".

Are you coming over to Greenville this weekend?

Mike

Mike, you bring up some good points and do not need to clarify them any further. I agree with you about everything concerning Archer's image but do not know Bobby Pickle. We've got another guy named Bobby Pickle in New Orleans. LOL.

MANY woofers will say THE RAIL IS OPEN and when it finally comes time to get a bet down, the rail is CLOSED. It is a simple marketing strategy I have seen used before and don't consider this unethical either. It's just part of the woofing mentality, sometimes to give one player a psychological advantage over the other and sometimes just simple publicity.

I like the publicity that the match is getting and wish both of them the best.

Will someone kindly give me directions to this room from I-40. Thanks in advance.HEH
Exit at Willow Ave. of I-40 ( Exit 286 I think) Go North toward Tenn Tech University. About 1 miles past the campus on the Left. It is real easy to find.

The rail took a beating last night. The money line was layin 100 on Pickle wins you 150 !! 100 on Archer wins you 70 ! The hometown guy came through for the railbirds that I know!! Good shooting Bobby Pickle !!!

Might you be implying somthing that maybe you would like to explain in a little more detail? Some of us here are slow and really need it to be broken down for us. Just curious.

Thanks in advance.

Very little betting the night before! I think this thing was so big that everyone was unsure which way to lay their jelly beans. But after the first set , even though Pickle lost there was a sense of confidence in the air for him. It was so close I knew he could win! Pickle got really bad rolls off the break or he would have won the first night. He missed less shots and played safe better than Archer. And was hooked almost every time after the break. No jump cues in this match was huge. Pickle jumps so good it is sick!!

I look for tonight to be less rail action. They booked a winner and don't look for them to give it back.

Let's keep in mind they played a third set and Pickle lost.

I would say that if it weren't alternate breaks, then Bobby WOULD have had no chance..

?????????????/

Looks like to me Bobby got managed pretty good. Super long races, no jump poles, an alternate break. It might have been a different story race to 11, jump poles an winner breaks. Pickle has a complete game on the bar box. I said before they played he has no weakness on bar box but Budwiser. Well he has 2. one is Budwiser the other is he matches up bad.

Why don't you take your money to Cookeville and find out how well Bobby plays the box.

I have no affiliation with Pickle, but I am sure he'd be glad to take all of your money and give you a whole new perspective on his game.

Good insight!
I don't think the Budweiser drags him down too much.

So, they played 3 sets, and Johnny won set 1 and 3. Did Pickle win set 2? And he can't have a 'complete game' if he kept losing the cue ball off the break and hooking himself, now can he? I have played Vilmont, hill-to-hill, and he won, so I know how he plays, and I have watched Baraks play when he won the Midwest 9 ball event here last June. If Pickle lost to them, he is trying to go uphill against Johnny, a steep hill.

People, sometimes, become enamored by local favorites, and think they are 'all that', but when put onto a bigger stage, most of the time, they don't fare so well.

Where does it say he was losing the cueball?
Just says he was hooked after the break.
