You’re right, thanks. I just looked up last year’s 9-ball open in Austin that Fedor won, 128 players, races to 7/7, and Fedor shot +80 over par (915!) and 7 guys shot more than +100 their rating.

If Fedor Gorst can play 100 points above his rating for an entire tournament, then amateurs can certainly play 100 points above (or below) their ratings in the context of a single match or tournament.
