I do think this a very good thing to get the players together and make this happen, what they need is a lawyer to get on board and represent them just in case anything happens down the road but with them having the monies in escrow makes things much better. Hope this all works out, maybe getting Mika paid would be a great start. :)
 
I wish the players & the new organization well. This organization of pro pool stuff is a tough nut to crack.

It will take leaders with experience and saavy. They may find that the best leaders may not be pool players, but someone from the cut-throat business world. Attracting someone like that would be tough for the niche sport of pool (from a spectating perspective).

Camel brought that kind of leadership, but the old guard players tour/union tore that opportunity apart.

The IPT might have had that kind of leadership, but they were unrealistic with their goals (something good leadership does not do).

The players that have stepped forward in the past have not proven up to the task, but kudos to them for trying. They laid the foundation for whatever organization finally takes root and takes pool where we would like it to go. Maybe Archer's group is it?!
 
Can anyone tell me how the twelve guys on the committee were picked. I was just wondering. I heard that they were the first twelve off the bca list, but that would make no sense.:confused:
I would like to find out more information.

Organization

There are so many things that have the potential to succeed and this one does but the devil is going to be in the details and this is going to take a lot of detail solving. I believe that if anyone Johnny Archer has the capacity to arrange and delegate well enough to get those details taken care of-he does. From the youtube he has positioned himself and someone who is going to have to do a lot of work. Like mosconiac said: I hope he is wise enough to employ help from the business world and someone with some sense can make it all work. Its great idea and is necessary to anything to happen to permanently secure success for mens pool.

I'm sure some of the pros like Johnny A. have friends that are lawyers, business managment people with good organizatioal skills, and people in finance that would help get it off the ground right for pro-bono.

I believe this has to get off the ground right at the get-go so all pro players will see the benifit and join in and pay dues to keep it going. Anything like this in pool is always the next last chance for a few years or more, so it needs to be started and run right. Good Luck to the pros. Johnnyt

PS: We as players and fans that enjoy watching the game at the highest level should support them in any way we are able also.

PSS: I'm sure if they asked on AZ Billiards there are many on here that could and would help them get started.
 
Not trying to be negative, but the ONLY way this organization will work is if the leader(s) are NOT poolplayers. This has been tried many times before (over the past 4 decades), always with the same result. None of the sucessful business models for sports organizations are run by the athletes...they are run by business people. Mackey was something of a businessman, but he was a greedy ahole, who was more out for himself than the players (as the end result of the RJ Reynolds/PBTA lawsuit proved).

I do not think that in this case it needs to be about biz, if the players can all look out for one another and there is no money being made with the organization other then to run it and be non-profit that would be wonderful. I think that these 12 top players are going to not show if the money is not posted and hope other players will follow suit. There is an insurance factor there where the players are safe and get there money, 100% guaranteed.

I like the concept and wish it well but if it gets to point where every player who wants to be a part of the organization has to pay some high dues in order to play tourneys every year along with promoters having to pay high sanctioning fees then you might have some people looking out for #1 as opposed to the whole group.
