Are birthday shout-outs necessary?

Pool related? Aren't we all related by pool? All related by billiard blood?

Jim, sorry your birthday wasn't that great. Hope your wife surprises you later... Maybe it's like when you are practicing really horribly, but then you absolutely shine in the tournament. That's what I wish for you...a not-so-great practice day followed by a year's worth of awesome playing!

Did I, or did I not, reply to this thread earlier today? I know I'm not feeling well today but I think my memory is okay. I know I'm not feeling well today but I think my memory is okay. I know I'm not feeling well today but I think my memory is okay. Oh well, maybe it's just me. Peace..................................................Oh yeah, John.

Happy Birthday John! Oh but it's not your birthday, but maybe it is, but maybe it's not. So Happy Birthday anyway even though its not your birthday.

Really? Okay, you ask for it. I'm all for equal opportunity. Now whenever I see a member in Today's Birthdays list, i'll create an individual thread for each one. Cuz if they're really necessary...;)

I'm in favor of keeping the birthday threads on the main forum. Most of us get along famously, and have a genuine regard for those with whom we interact on the forum. This thread has shown that birthdays are more important to some than others. The thread starter makes a fair point in noting that these birthday threads create a little congestion on the forum at times, but for me, it's a price well worth paying in the name of noting special moments in each others lives.

Who says that the birthday of a pool enthusiast is not pool related? I say it is!

If it is done in jest, you'll just make yourself look worse than you do now. Start mocking people's birthday's, you'll find yourself with the whole place rising up against you.

But hey, it's your funeral.

How ironic this should could up on my birthday. Let me tell you what a "great" day it has been.

Start with yesterday, I came home from TDY to see my laundry room and bathroom flooded from a water leak in the ceiling. I call a plumber and he promises to be here by 1200 today.

This morning I get up and my wife seems to have forgotten it's my birthday. She goes and does errands without so much as a Happy Birthday. Leaving me to wait for the plumber. The plumber calls and cancels at 1130, so now I have to find someone else to come out. The new plumber shows up and looks at the busted pipe and doesn't have the stuff to fix it so he has to come back later. He still hasn't showed up yet (a/o 1750).

My wife finally makes it home around 1500 and I still have yet to hear the words "Happy Birthday".

Around 1700 I went out to get something out of the truck and notice alot of water. Not one but TWO pipes busted in my well house. So I grab the shop vac and start cleaning that up.

I'm still waiting on the plumber to deplete my savings, maybe he'll show up sometime this evening.

A shout out may have made my day a little brighter, but now I see they're not acceptable.

Enough of my whining. Hope everone's birthday urns out better than mine...

Jim
I know how you feel. A few years ago my water pipes froze up and burst on my B-Day. Oh well. Have a good one! And Happy Chrismakwanahanzakah to everyone!

Absolutely, birthdays are pool related! Take Johnny Archer's nickname for one ... and probably the only, but what the hell. Not to mention the irony of his actual name signifying the next, and poles-apart, zodiac sign.

And then there's Alex ... though I don't suppose he happened to have been born in late July or the first three weeks of August.

Nice to know whose b'day's when so we can form astrological prejudices, I say! Not that I'm likely to get a shoutout on Tuesday or anything ...

In today's society of only God knows what will happen next, Birthday wishes are a nice old fashion touch of simple courtesy.

Since I can't remember my own birthday, I'm going to take this opportunity to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYBODY!......now that that's taken care of.....

Which Pro player do you think has the best birthday?.........:)

Gerry

What's the big deal?

The b-day threads quickly sink to the murky bottom of the board and then disappear. A lot of nice folks, who have gotten to know and sometimes meet each other, can't give a b-day shout out?

Quit crying you negative creeps. You can use the search feature if your aiming or best tip thread went missing.
