Hi guys,
I will not mention names, so please dont ask.I gave a well known CM 2 years ago to make a cue to my specs. In the 2 years I have only spoke with him by e-mail about 3xs total.
Last week i go to my Dr. and he tells me I have to have all these tests to see if I am eligible to go on the national transport list.
I contact the CM and explain I probably need my deposit back.It has now been 3 weeks and there is no reply.I even wrote him a e-mail saying I would be happy just using the cue once.I still have some hope that I will be around for awhile. What would you guys do in my situation.BTW another CM who is less known said no problem at all and the money order will be in the mail immediatly.Thats what i expected from the 1st CM.What would you all do?I am really surprised.

if you can't get the maker to refund the deposit, one option is to get someone to take your place on the list. the maker should have no problem with that.

Bob,

Sorry to hear about your health challanges. Wishing you the BEST!!!

You can PM me with details because I would consider buying your spot if BILL passes.

Regards and best wishes, Adam

first i wish you good health and luck in any surgery.it is a sad situation not getting a deposit back in your special situation.you stated you didn't want to mention names but one has to wonder if the CM is one that has been talked about badly here scamming people.best in 2007 to you..:) sincerly

cue deposit

No the cue is not from anyone that we have talked about. It is also 90% made.I think I will wait till the end of the month before calling him up.I am also hoping that if I need surgery, it will be okay.
P.S. These days the organ I need grows back again. If anyone wants to donate and is a B+ they can donate. It is illegal to pay for a directed donor but I am sure there can be some things done.:)

Sorry about the health problems. I just did a large deposit refund for a customer who got into a legal situation. It put me in a tough spot due to the money was being used to pay for an order of wood I have already placed that will be here very soon. This particular cue had not been started yet. The customer could not decide on what he wanted and had just been making payments to me over a few months to spread out the cost. If the cue had been started I probably would have still done it beacuse I always try to make every customer happy. That being said, I am starting a non refundable deposit policy on my cues that customers will be made well aware of just because when I take money in I just reinvest it in materials.
Did the cuemaker discuss refunds when you placed the order? I have always assumed when you put money down on something it is lost if you don't complete the transaction. However, I am referring to low dollar stuff and not a cue with a 3 year wait. Considering your situation I think most people would give a refund if they have the money to give. Let us all know how it works out, both the cue and you. Chris.

I read in a letter to the editor of a woodworking magazine where a lady praised them because they were the only magazine responding to her request of refunding the balance of the subscription when her husband died. It amounted to about $12. I would have never thought of doing that. It all adds up when money is needed.

If nothing else sell the cue here. I am sure someone will give you what you have in it and maybe more.

Best wishes to you. It makes you wonder why people with good health are on a mission to destroy themselves. Too bad they don't respect life and what they have.

cue deposit

I am not really worried about the money.I am just surprised that the CM did not respond. If things dont go well for me my family will either have a good cue or they can sell it for probably more.I just wanted to see the replys here.
I am actually surprised that I didnt get more responses.

NAME THE DAMN CUE MAKER!!!!!!

STOP PROTECTING the scam artists of the industry, he will go on to do the same thing to someone else

a few phone calls/emails from AZ members to said cue maker will get you
what you want, TOO MANY shady cue makers out there

First off, knowing your situation, it saddens me to hear about your health and hope all goes well. I feel your dismay with the CB, but without a word from him , it hard to make a judgement against him. If your not really worried about the money, i would get the cue and then sell it, if thats what has to be done.We dont really know about the CB maybe he has many more problems than we arent aware of. I'm not defending him just giving the benifit of doubt. Why he hasnt responded maybe we will find out soon. until then i wouldnt go out on a limb and say things i might regret later(not that you have said anything ) But some feed off your situation just to cause others pain..JMHO. I'm A+,and if we were a match you would have your donor. And expect to play a set after you were recovered. Our Prayers go out to you.

Bob

I'd call and discuss with the CM. He may not actually have the money to refund you, though a two year wait I'd guess he would. Or at least be able to move the cue easily enough and not be out money. Deposits usually are not refundable, thats why you pay them after all. I know I personally try not to deal with cuemakers that have a deposit system. Have made two exceptions to that rule and have been happy both times, however.

In your situation I would think that the CM would refund your money regardless unless the cue is near completion and they have no hope of recouping their costs. Can't imagine that would be the case in a 2 year wait for a cue.

Good luck, and hope the health improves Sir.

Maybe I souldn't say anything, but I'm the less known cuemaker, Bob the check is in the mail. I took the deposit for the Ivory in the cue Bob ordered. With the problems we had in the past year with 2 different shops, Bob waited patiently for 9 months for his cue. Bob was to get our first pointed cue. But as you've all read, Bob is Ill, I as a member of the human race would have felt very guilty about not returning his deposit in this situation. Bob, My best wishes to you and your family. We did happen to put a wrap on the cue that was ment for you. It's the last pointed cue in our pointed cue page. I hope you get well, and yes order another cue from us, and this time, you know no deposit required, and I'm sure no 9 month wait.:(

Best Wishes to our friend in pool, and in life,

Glad to hear that this situation has worked itself out for the best. This particular situation appears to be outside the norm as far as the circumstances. And Bob, wishing you all the best !!
