FWIW, he's quoting what was said to DCP, not what DCP said.

On that note, why doesn't everyone just leave the guy alone and ignore him if you don't like him?

Not that it matters, but where there was once some respect, I am quickly losing some respect for those that should be grown up enough to know better.

Craig,
Being stubborn and going out of your way to purposely annoy an entire forum is not very grown up either.

I don't think it comes down to "knowing better". I sincerely tried to help Mike as did many other people on this forum. I defended him and continued to help him until he started suggesting that the instructors on this forum "thought they knew everything" but that we lacked the skills and knowledge necessary to help him. Myself and others spent a lot of time trying to help im out, and he suggested we were incompetent instead of looking in the mirror and realizing that maybe, just maybe, it might be him.

He pushed and pushed and pushed. In the end, he got the boot - deservedly so. I did ignore him. Twice. I've said that before. However I won't sit back an allow anyone to insinuate that I don't know what I am talking about when it comes to teaching this game. I've worked with many champions and their success would dispute his insinuations.

Perhaps in 6 months he'll come back with a new attitude, or he'll just switch forums and start tossing grenades at everybody from where ever he ends up. That's usually what happens anyway.

I don't like to see anybody get the boot (except that nut with the dog in Atlanta) but in this case it was inevitable that at some point he was going to run out of lifelines or the mods were going to run out of patience. Mike knew better, but chose to push the envelope and push buttons - intentionally. When you do that, you take your chances of getting feedback that will be abrasive by those that usually don't have to respond that way.

Couldn't have said it any better myself...........It has been kinda of sad to watch how VERY knowledgable people tried and tried to help Mike. But he just kept arguing every step of the way and pissing people off.

Dave,

I agree. I am not taking any sides and I don't wish to. It was a blanket statement intended to cover all aspects, not to single any one person out. Rather, it's a broad generalization of in my humble opinion how adults should behave.

I'm going to send you a pm for follow up.

Craig

I hope it's not my fault. DCP did quote me in his last post. Now I will have to live with that for at least 6 months if not forever.:p

Let me just get this one right. DCP is banned, but he can still login? He has read only rights, but can't post?

Man, that is pure torture. :(

I am so sick and tired of the stupid drama that I could retch.

For all you have not learned, despite my warning....I am not to be triffled with.

Maybe in 6 months, you'll have a better perspective of my point of view.

See ya then.

Yes, the first few posts of his that I read I tried to help him and put a lot of thought into my answers as did a lot of other people. People recommended books, drills, outlooks on the game etc...

The third thread of his that I read he was still having the same problem so I said "You had a lot of good advice given the last time, perhaps you could tell us which advice you applied and what your results were when you applied it. Then we might be able to help you better."

Of course he ignored that, which convinced me that he hadn't tried any of the advice and was just a troll....since then this is the first thread of his I've read and THIS time I like the outcome :)

He would be able to read the forums, but in his case he should probably take the time to quit reading anything about pool and actually practice what he has already learned.

I get the impression that he is trying to find the secret to pool via the written word.

Same result here. I put a lot of effort into a response to him that he just ignored. I knew then he was more into typing than playing.

this was long over due, this guy was alienating pretty much the entire forum in his own lil stupid way, if people would of just stopped replying to every one of his threads he would of stopped posting them, because all he was really seeking on here was attention

i really think this should be a lifetime ban because this looney isn't gonna change in 6 months, if he even cares at all he may change for a week or maybe a month but in the end he will do whatever he has to to get attention on here

i just went and read the Forum Rules. Hateful and Threatening posts are not to be tolerated.

therefore, if a poster threatens to slash someone's tires, or threatens to kick someone's ass, that poster should, by rule, be banned from the forum.

DCP
Way off topic, but in DCP-esque fashion:
Q: Under the rules, can you get yourself banned by threatening to slash your own tires - or kick your own ass (a la Jim Carey in "Liar Liar").

Just wondering. ;)

6 months would be June 2008. I'll mark it on my calendar.

Tough Love...

Thank you Mr. Wilson. This was a dose of "tough love" that was long overdue.
Dr. Cues Protozoa reminded me of a guy I played hockey with growing up. He figured out at an early age that you got attention in one of two ways
1. getting better
2. getting hurt
Acting like he was hurt was easier for him than putting in the work necessary to get better.
You could count on him to be down on the ice with some imagined pain 5 minutes into any game.
The life expectancy of any attention hound should be very short.
More tolerance and understanding has been put forth by members of this forum regarding Dr. Cues Protozoa. Members with real credentials. Members who, when they speak, know what they are talking about.
I, for one, appreciate that sharing of knowledge and information.

Good ol' 369th Signal

When were you at Ft Gordon?
By the time I got there we had " phases" .. after a month or so to "detox" from BCT youearned your phase 5 privies...civil clothes and free run as long as you made formations.... though there was still a fair amount of "barracks parties" (cleaning) and company formations....

Shane Napier
Former 31F small extension node operator/maintianer....

Shane,

Sounds like you were in the same training Brigade. I was Bravo 447. I believe 447/369 were in same Brigade.

Gawd, that was a looooonnng walk to the PX, wasn't it? :D

Small extension node = RAT Rig? I worked on the TYC-39As.. Trained as a 39G at first, September 1993 thru April 1994, then got reclassed into 74G, and then 74B a few years later. I was trained just before the Army made the transition into training techs on actual TCP/IP networking.

At my first duty station in S. Korea in 1994, I actually worked on Windows 3.11 machines! Years later right before I got out in 2002, all the techs were trying to figure out how to get a huge database out of a 3.11 machine, without a LAN card. Found an ooollllllld copy of Laplink Pro, hooked up a parallel cable between it and a newer computer, and presto/chango... Good to go. I was absolutely amazed that the current version of Access was able to open the file.

Ahh, those were the days.. When techs encountered really WEIRD problems. Maybe the networks/hardware are just really homogenized now, or maybe it's just that we had more exuberance for the troubleshooting process back then.

Very long...but it was just across the street to the shoppette..that served Brew...and I was a late bloomer so I was in AIT at 21...whoooot..!!

The whole signal system has changed even since I got out in 03... We went from Node Center-->Los-->SEN..set up, to the new fangled Sat Vans and another reclass to 25F...

Good times.....for sure...

Russ.. I just realized that we are Faternal Brothers of the Signal Corps... does that mean we have to get along now?

I guess so.. Heh heh.. Speaking of Sat Vans.. When I was in 44th Signal in Germany, all the 74Bs in the Brigade were retrained to run those mobile packages that included SIPR/NIPR networks, VTC, and phone service. We travelled around the Balkans with Sat Van teams, and hooked into them with a mux/demux device.

That was pretty cool. I went with Sat teams to Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, and a few other European countries. Did you end up doing satellite stuff before you got out?

Russ

I thought the Sat guys were 64S's..74B's were the CPU Techs right??
All that chit runs together after a while ..

As a 31F we did the NIPR/SIPR, VTC, and MSTE (?) phones were handeld out of my van...we rolled with the SEN switch and a LOS ...the new stuff basiclly eliminated the LOS and the Node Center by putting a Sat on the back of a HMVE...

The change over happend right as I was ETS'ing......

dude..the conversation has beocme way tooooooooo nerdy to be continued here :D

Funny how things change~ a couple of months ago I got banned 4 goofing on DCP. U got 2 go with them fickle winds
