I know how some on this forum do not like Mike Sigel, but I had a great experiance with him and have gotten to know him and really admire what he has done. He made this for me right before the IPT and the first King of the Hill match with Loree Jon Jones. He was going to retire from making cues with this being one of the last ones he would make. Since the IPT has not taken off, I believe he may be making cues again. Anyway, this cue plays great.

no offense, but in my opinion his cues are not worth half the price he asks...

Sorry Jule, if you didn't mean to offend, you wouldn't have made an offensive post. The man likes his cue, likes the way it plays and had a good experience with Mike Segal. I hope you feel the same way about your cue. ;)
I love a happy story!

I guess that's what makes the world go 'round so to speak. This cue plays great and I love it. Mike was great to me and, as I said in the beginning, I know a lot of people here that have been turned off by him. I was not one of them.

i think his cues are a little too fancy and the thinner but throws my hand off a little. other than that they play ok. i'd buy a pj for a couple hundo but other than that i probably wouldn't mess with them.

i hear the guys a real jerk too.

I actually like the thinner butt. I have heard plenty of horror stories about Mike, but he was more than a gentleman with me. I guess if you go in with the attitude that someone is a jerk then someone will probably be a jerk. I try to go into situations with an open mind. As I said at the beginning of this thread, a lot of people have had run ins with Mike, but I enjoyed spending time with him and talking pool. As most people know, he loves to talk and has some fascinating stories.

Nice cue. I was lucky enough to play with one like this last month, before my friend sold it. I like the cue, but I am a little shy of playing with an ivory joint cue, since all mine are SS jointed. It was a sweet cue and I will never understand why my friend sold it....

As to Mike, he worked as Joss in the 80's and learned his craft from Danny and his job was doing the inlays in butts. I heard a rummer, he sold his cue shop within the last few months? If this is true this one could be worth its weight in gold in the future years?

First of all.. Rep to you Metallicane for being a class act, being positive, and keeping to your opinion. It's easy to get dragged in to an argument but you're obviously above that.
Second, whether or not you like Sigel's cue work.. I don't doubt that they play well. I would have to believe that Sigel knows a thing or two about shooting pool.

Thanks I appreciate the comments. Life is too short to be dragged down that road and, like I said, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Plus I really like my cue.

I remember Mike being at Joss. I dropped one of my first cues off to Joss back then to have my stainless steel joint scrimshawed and Mike was the guy I handed it to. I also used to see him practice at the Texas Cue Lounge. I remember before the '81 World Championship, Mike was running balls by himself and we were on a table near him and he just didn't miss. He shot and shot and I am not sure how many in a row, but it was a lot and then this girl walked by him and bumped his arm during a shot and he missed. Mike says, "Oh well, I guess I'm ready", and packs his cue and leaves. He won the tournament the next week.

I really dind't wanna offend. Just wanted to express my opinion on this cue and Steven Seg... erm Mike Sigel's cues in general. ;)

I have known Mike for several years and have bought and sold many of his custom cues, and a ton of his old production line when I ran the pro shop. Mike (as well as his wife, Renee) have always been great to me. Mike can come off as slightly arrogant and cocky sometimes (I think this is what most people who don't care for him base their feelings on), but let's face it, folks. He was (and is) one of the greatest poolplayers to ever play the game. If that cockiness were not there, he would not have done the things in the billiard world that he has been able to accomplish. BTW, in my opinion, his custom cues play really well.

I know everyone gives Sigel a hard time about charging for his autograph. When getting this in person it can be quite disconcerting, but he's not the only one. From the stories I hear, he charges anywhere from $20-$50 to sign a cue ball. Well check out Paul Gerni's site:

Gerni Signed Cue Ball

I've only spoken with Renee and she's great to talk to. Mike was one of the top players for quite a while and I've alway enjoyed watching him.

I had a Mike Sigel cue for a little while, and it was made to break and run racks. It hit the balls very well. No deflection in the hit.He makes great cues.poolrod

I hope you enjoy your Sigel cue. If you like it that's all that matters and that's why all cues don't look exactly alike. Everyone has different tastes in everything and pool cues are no different......

Nice cue

I'm not a big fan of floating points but I like your cue.As for the price mike is able to charge what he wants just like all the other cue makers. The only down fall would be on a resale...I hope you enjoy your cue and I especially like the butt and forearm wood.:)
