Avatars, anyone else feel some are in poor taste?

personally, while I like the images, they don't belong in a family forum. I find most these worse than marissa's actually. I'm sure she'll be the one to get banned, because thats the way the world here at az works.

I am a strong proponent of freedom of expression in all of its forms. Not to mention, you start getting into some dangerous areas if you say homosexually suggestive material is not all right, but heterosexually suggestive material is all right. So that leaves the Admins in the wonderful position of either getting rid of all suggestive material or allowing all of it (assuming it is not obscene).

I for one will miss all of the wonderful ladies that greet me at the beginning of many posts on this forum, but I defer to people that have been here longer and the Admins. And for those of you that have issue with a picture of men kissing: Does the image make you uncomfortable or is it homosexuality as a whole? Because I hate to be the one to tell you this, I am pretty sure they are not heading back in the closet, so you may want to come to terms with it.

Well the fact is I will never, as you say, come to terms with it. The avatar in question makes me physically ill. I probably am stepping on some toes, but I will never accept such an absolute un-natural act. I have the right to disapprove and I do. I guess it is my conservative Baptist midwest upbringing. Nothing will ever change my mind on this one.

Sincerely, Jim Kissinger

Reaction is good, regulation is good........but over reaction and over regulation is bad.

Banning avatars is not needed and can be handled by the moderator.

I can see where some avatars are for sure over the limit of why a normal person likes to view and I can see where there are a few right on the line, and I'm not just talking about the sexual ones.

I have used a few that I can say are "on the line" and one or two that were probably over the line. Well endowed women are probably on the line, wet t-shirts are probably over the line. Two men/women kissing are over the line.

This isn't rocket science and any normal person can figure out that a public forum is a place where some restraint is required.

This all started because an individual who has a history of causing trouble saw an opportunity to do just that, cause some trouble.

Mr. Wilson has been here long enough to know who is looking for trouble and he can deal with them on an individual basis.

I can't speak for others but I will be a little more careful on the avatars I choose to use.

Those that don't wish to comply or try to push the issue are simply looking to start a fight and if it wasn't the avatars it would be something else.

this is getting ridiculous, i actually agree that the wet t shirt avatar crossed a line and wasn't appropriate but i can't believe someone can come back from bein banned after a track record of adding NOTHING useful to this board content wise and always seeming to draw attention to herself with semi-delusional antics, it wasn't long ago that conspiracy theorists on here claimed that this person was always allowed to get away with things that no one else here could, i think this proves them right

i've seen a handful of people on here banned that at times could be very obtrusive but at least they had something useful to offer from time to time, i don't get why you'd keep someone around that continually adds nothing and only causes drama, their is a double standard with avatars and that's how it will always be, but it appears that there's also a double standard with annoying female members not getting banned, i can understand that it's 2am and likely a mod isn't on to ban her for putting her avatar back, but i really think she should of been banned yesterday, the first thing u do when u get out of prison shouldn't be pi$$ on the warden's shoe, she obviously doesn't care if she's a member of azb or not(did she ever?)

Personally,I haven't seen one that offended me yet, more like a couple I didn't pay much attention to.

I can see where parents who have young-ish children that come here would be upset to a certain extent. I also understand how certain subject matter may make others uncomfortable. My point is LIGHTEN UP,and take these matters into PM if at all possible, and not clog up the main forum with threads that start into middle-school hijinks.

The only thing that offends me about certain avatars is pictures of nicer cues than I have, and that those shoes in Marissa's avatar probably cost 200 bucks or more. Tommy D.

Well, go check out Marissa's myspace page that she makes known to everyone here. She has this blog asking for money so she can afford to go on vacation. One of the listed contributors is Mike H (Arizona). I take this to be AZ Mike Howerton, ... I could be wrong but I doubt it. Seems that she is in very good grace with the 'warden' here.

It's called a mission trip... to UTAH. I even link to the church website. There are far more "glamorous" places that our church takes missions to, but this is the one that spoke to me. I didn't go to the Dominican Republic last month so I could go on this one. Hardly a holiday.

Outside of the whole Mike H thing.. complete speculation there....
You go on missions with your church?? earlier you said you went to an Assembly of God Church...... .

did I miss something.............................

"Homosexuality is both a sin against God and mankind." -AG Commission on Doctrinal Purity

"Clearly on every front whether it be moral, spiritual, physical, or psychological, the practice of homosexuality has proven itself devoid of any individual good or social benefits." -AG Commission on Doctrinal Purity

"In showing compassion to gays, some have disregarded what the Bible says about homosexuality." -AG Commission on Doctrinal Purity

"When society declares same-sex unions and marriages as sacred we are staring evil in the face." Charles Crabtree Assistant General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God

"And what we see today parallels what Jude was dealing with in his day. Angry, militant gays, who are mad at Bible believing saints, and who want to see their churches destroyed... Don't tell me that people who live in a homosexual lifestyle are filled with the Holy Sprit. The Bible says here clearly they are not." Sermon by Ric Freeman pastor of 1st Assembly of God Church in Weatherford, OK

"The General Council of the Assemblies of God has never wavered in its stance against homosexual activity." Statement by Ginger Galloway head of Exodus International's Assemblies of God task force

By the way this information was sourced from SOULFORCE.ORG... a pro-gay website

Marissa!!!!!!!!!

I would not give you one stinkin penny. The only person in my opinion you should witness to is a psychotherapist. On one site your a christian on another you illustrate an tell lewd jokes on another you are gay an promote homosexuality. Do you think it is a possiby you have a multuple personality disorder? Witness what a load of crap! I personally see nothing God like in you other than you are one of Gods children. It is rather obvious to this country boy you need help seek it. Well you wanted attention you've got mine. In my opinion you are one crazy lady. No vacation money here.

I attend Evangel Temple, which is an Assemblies of God church. We have a group of young adults that meet weekly, also, which is called Veritas. Several members attend missions regularly, and we also support missionaries who live overseas. Last month, several members went to the Dominican Republic. In June, some of our member in Veritas will be going to the Utah Dream Center. This is the one I felt drawn to.

As for homosexuality, I struggled with my own sexuality when I was younger, confused to why I would like women, even though I liked men. I have dated both, but never at the same time. I don't believe in polyamourous relationships. Regarding it as a sin is hypocritical. While no sin is greater than another, I don't consider it a sin. Sexual orientation isn't a choice. I don't believe a person would choose to be ostracised from society and risk ridicule, and possibly alienation, from their family and friends. Love isn't based on outward appearances, but who we are inside.

ok ok ok ok ... let me make sure I understand this correctly... you go on missions to spread the word of a church whose word completely contradicts your chosen lifestyle........

Wow... you might actually be a screwed up as most of the other forums members say you are......

The more I think about it, the more sense Cuetechasaurs's (from Yesterday) post makes....

I tell people about salvation in God's love. There's no such thing as a perfect Christian, and all sins are equal in His eyes.

Also considered "sins": cutting your hair, interracial relationships, females wearing pants or spaghetti strapped shirts, men wearing shorts, eating shellfish.

(I am not preaching, only replying to Smoke's post.)

I'm going to hell.
I love pork chops.

Hi Marissa,

Good to see you back.

What is the Utah Dream Temple, and why do you feel drawn to, if I may ask?

Thank you.

Richard

The Utah Dream Center is a ministry and community centre for refugees in Salt Lake City.

This will be my first mission. I feel like God has a lesson for me there. I don't know how else to explain it.
