Agh nice, I took a year off the Euro Tour to concentrate on work and property but sadly this event has come about 2 months too early for me!

I really wanted to play this year but taken perm job so would be tough, Singlefingen (sp?) was a nice room though, pretty good stop.

Nice nightlife! ;)

I think Jay's idea was to determine the interest along with the ideas from this thread and JesPiddlin's idea was to get some numbers to know what might be workable. Both of them have stated they are willing to do some work in pulling something like this off. Are you offering to help, too?

To answer your question - Yes I would be willing to help out as much as possible on the east coast.

But first must be established what type of venue you are going to have? For example - if it's OPEN I'm not interested unless it's close to home. The type of venue will determine for many if they will go or not. I'm not trying to knock what Jay has proposed. But looking at the original idea invite - this has grown from a local tourn. to bi-coastal to international.

Look at the last tourn. where no one even got paid. The parameters have to be established or it just won't work, large or small. I suggest that it be kept to a west coast tourn. to start off and if successful that following year it could be both coasts and grow from there.

LOL. I didn't even catch that I said that. I guess I should edit it. ;)

I would recommend holding it on the moon, but there really isn't any atmosphere there.

I can only go if it is in the continental U.S. :)

As Diana Shore would say, "See the USA, in a Chevrolet." :D

Since the majority of AzB-ers live in the States, it seems logical to have it in this country.

No worries, will def give u a shout if go over.

I'd go just for the group hug lol :p

Even though I live on the West Coast, I'm inclined to think that Atlanta or Minneapolis are the best choices. Both are major airline hubs that anyone can get too easily non stop. Even some Europeans may be able to come.

Both cities have good pool rooms to host us (I would work on that, i.e bargain rates). Maybe we can get them to give us 4-8 tables each day at a flat rate. We may have to all throw in $25 each for the table time. I'm thinking 25-50 people the first time out.

We could hold it over a four day period, the tournaments overlapping a little, two days for each. We can never please everybody no matter when or where it is held. Hopefully it will be an event that will grow each year.

My new job has offices in Atlanta and I've been trying to swing a bizz trip lol

Besides, it sounds like a lovely state ;)

Sounds cool ...

I'm kind of new to the forum but I would be willing to attend it would be nice to put some faces to these names....

I like Atlanta it has a big Airport and should have plenty of rooms that can accomadate....

I also thought about the old pool room one of the female posters posted about here about a month or so ago... It was located in Kansas or St Louis and it was post about a old pool room with over stuffed chairs and had some players there and the old timey tables it was one of the original old time pool halls ... She also posted a video clip and news piece a reporter had done on the place... She said she wanted to go there and see it before she left this earth ... I can't remember the name of the place but it was a very nice piece and I would love to see the place myself...

I thought about Colorado since it is centrally located. It doesn't have to be there though.

Okay, tell me what you think.

I say we make it Betmore's Basement!!!

Do they have poker machines? If so, I can't make it. I love em.
Don't worry with Jay's poker prowess I'm sure he'll find a way to add a holdem tournament to the festivities! Philw

You could have it immediately before or after some major event - would eliminate the travel expense for those who would otherwise be making two trips.

Your definition of OPEN would be...??? Just making sure. I do believe Jay mentioned (in the title of the thread) "Az Get Together". That was specific enough, I thought. I mentioned at one point that we might consider allowing others in at a following tournament, another year.

I have seen no mention of a "local tourn.", as you say. Here is a repeat of Jay's post. Maybe you could use a refresher.

I had a crazy idea yesterday. There are so many good players who post on here, why not have an annual get together, with an All Around tourney thrown in. I'm thinking $100 entry fee into each division, maybe One Pocket, 9-Ball and Banks. No added money, we just play for the entry fee money. Keep it fun but with a little purse to go after.

I thought about Colorado since it is centrally located. It doesn't have to be there though. If Jim McDermott liked it, we might be able to do it at his poolroom in Tulsa. And he can play too. He plays good by the way.

I see it as a big pool party, with some spirited competition thrown in. I'd love to meet all the good players who post here. I suspect I will recognize most of you. Ironman, Blackjack and Island Drive are already down for this. Who else?

Okay, tell me what you think.

Personally, I think Jay's idea of an annual AZers get-together is a terrific idea. If you're serious about planning something near the East Coast Dawgie, maybe you should ask how many people would be there. (Or plan it and pray, since that seems to be your scheme.)

We can't commit to more than one East Coast trip per year, which we already have on our schedule. It would also be about impossible for me to be of any help with anything on the East Coast. So, that leaves me out.

If you guys decide to do something here in the middle, give me a shout and I'll try to help out.

Dawgie, I think the ball's in your park. Get to planning!
