I didn't read the whole thing but had a couple questions.

Would this be for us AZB members only or open to everyone?

and what would the races be to?

You said 9 ball, 1 pocket, and banks right?

Will there be any money taken from the entries? or all money stays in no matter what?

Jay Helfert said he would be the TD for free, and so we don't have to pay for the TD, which is a bonus. However, he would like a corned beef sandwich, every now and then, for his kind donation! :D

Monies may be taken out to give to the room owner who hosts this event, but that is still left to be determined.

Other than that, all monies will be paid out. :)

You gotta good chance at winning this one! Hmm, I may just have to start me an AzBilliards Calcutta! :D

60% will go to Jay {his idea}

60% will go to Island Drive {he is the tallest}

60% will go to the prize fund { we want to keep em coming back}

Jay,

In Minnesota you wouldn't need a hotel, Stay at my place. My wife cooks damn good and we love to have guests. I Live about 10 -15 Minutes from Shooters. I would certainly help out any way I could in setting things up.

I know your trying to have a simple get together. Keep it simple and name the places you think fit and be done with it. It's a great Idea!

Wherever it is, I hope it is a non-smoking pool room.

Personally, I also would prefer a no-alcohol pool room. Those are the BEST, in my opinion.

Second-hand smoke in pool rooms can be brutal, whether you smoke or not, as depicted below! :o

That's it ...

Jam are you the one that posted that article on Ray town... That is the place I was refering to in my first post on this thread (Could'nt remember the name)... I would like to see that place also that article reminded me some of the pool room I grew up learning to play in ... The article brought back alot of memories of a place and people I have not seen since 86 many of the people I'm sure are not on this earth anymore .... That would be a great place to have it ... That was a awesome piece... It seems like the first AZ get together should be in a place like that somewhere special ... Though I would prefer Atlanta for location seeing I live in South Georgia ....Raytown would be awesome ....

If it is held there, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure I am going. I wouldn't want to miss that. Plus, Keith knows the owner very well, and I know, win or lose, he would have a blast!

Might even get a little side action going while the tournament is in progress. There's a lot of action players in that region! ;)

BTW, Keith did speak with Don Brink the other day, after we read that article, and he was tickled pink to hear from Keith and vice versa. We told Don about this website and forum. I'm not sure if he ever found his way here, but if I know he would enjoy the kind words written about him.

Memories are worth more than gold sometimes! He must have a kazillion of them. I would love to meet the man. :)

Yep ...

What a pleasure it would be to be in a place like that ... To talk with people like that with all the memories and stories ... Not just someone like Don that would be a prize by itsself but people like Jay and you and so may others here on AZ ...Maybe fatboy could make a appearance who knows who might show up that posts here ... All that knowledge in one room just to watch them play would be awesome to talk to them and pic thier mind priceless ...

I'm in. I like that Don Brink's Raytown Rec Center, too, in Kansas City. :)

Jam..... Did you do a top 3 picks? All I see is KC. If you don't give your top 3 pics, we can't find the most popular very easily. Everyone would just pick their hometown and nothing would be the most chosen location.

I'm talking to a few of you, actually, but I was pretty sure Jam wouldn't mind me getting the point across this way. (Thanks, Jam)

Annual tournament in changing locations? First year west, then midwest, east, south, montana, Tx, Chicago, etc? Those who are free to travel get to come every year and others get to come once in a while.

I think this is a great idea. We just have to find new people to coordinate it, each year. Someone from the area it will be held in.

My top three would be:

No. 1: Kansas City, Don Brink's pool room, Raytown Recreation Center.
No. 2: Q-Master, Norfolk, Virginia, Barry Behrman's pool room.
No. 3: Southern Billiards, Starkville, Mississippi

Smoking ...

Smoking and drinking don't really bother me I'm neither for or against either as long as your not drinking and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle ... I use to smoke and drink till my son was born ... I quit both and recently started smoking again ... Though I could take it outside to respect the rights of others... I still don't drink even though smoking and drinking kind of go hand in hand with playing on a bar box and the atmosphere and it is kind of funny and sometimes makes me feel guilty cause we have a Saturday afternoon tourny at a local club after which we usually play 5 or 10 a rack VNEA League rules... A couple of the old men get in there and they haze some of the players by telling them you boys drink all the beer you want cause that Diet Mountain Dew drinking MF is gonna kick your butts ... lol.... Yep I'm the Diet Dew drinking one ...

Man, I forgot one pool room we should throw in the mix for consideration, if the owner is agreeable to host this event.

What about Grady's Place in South Carolina?

Keep those votes coming in. I still lean toward cities with major airports. Much easier for all concerned.

I'd definitely be up for it....

Jay I'd be up for it, especially if it's at Jim's place. I haven't seen or talked to him in about 7 years. Last I talked to him he was still upset about Jim Varney's (Ernest P. Worell's) death, since they were good friends.

Jaden

I think that las vegas would be good. People could plan a vacation around it. Everyone likes Vegas.

Don Brink's Raytown Rec Center is a very small place. Shooter's in Olathe is the best pool hall in KC for this type of event.
