My check is postmarked 12-15-06. Do I get to play or not?
Because of you, I just changed it... the postmark must be 12/14. :D

You're good to go, just promise to spend more time hanging out with me this yr. ;)

I didn't even know there was a deadline until Timberly posted in the big red font on the bottom of her posts that it is tomorrow (thanks for that, btw.)
I guess I'm going to have to turn on those annoying signatures again.

Well in that case I'll cancel the $500.00 donation I made to the room and spend it on beer. :D

I have several friends coming down to Derby City this year and to my knowledge, NONE of them bothered to sign up for AZBilliards or send money to the raffle, but they ALL have asked about the room I sponsored. If they never took the time to DO anything...then it must not have been a priority.
Let them whine and complain all they want. Everyone can make excuses. Computers are available for free at every public library. There is no excuse for not having a computer. Or not having enough time to send in a check. Timberly gave enough time for letters to arrive via pony express. If you cant mail a letter in 3 months you dont have time to play a game of pool. Its no excuse.

You can just have several rates for playing pool posted there...

This is not suggested for this year because of the close date but perhaps next years.

Sponsors--$X.XX
Pro Players $X.XX N/C
Guests of Sponsors $X.XX
AZBilliards/ Onepocket.org Members $X.XX
AZBilliards/ Onepocket.org posting members of 100 posts or more $X.XX
Raffle ticket supporters....No charge
Guests, Spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, enemies, stakehorses, railbirds $XX.XX

Just some examples...

Just a guess that if you post all the prices up front everyone will know if they are paying $10 or $100.00 to play pool there. As long as everyone fits in SOME category the whining will be reduced somewhat. It cannot be completely eliminated....this IS pool you know!

Just some suggestions for future rooms. The sponsors, organizers, regular posters and raffle ticket buyers are the foundation of the room. All the johhny come lately's should EXPECT to pay more if they are not contributing in some way to this great event. Everyone charges LATE FEES these days. The AZBilliards/Onepocket.org room should be no exception. Like Marie Antionette said...LET THEM EAT CHALK!

Cueandcushion I was not myself trying to make excuses I was just explaining to Timberly why I asked the question. If I had caused any of the frustration I wanted to apologize to her. I understand the reasons for this not being open to everyone and I will follow what rules and guidelines the other posters that have worked so hard to make this happen for all of us. I'm not even sure if I'm going to make it myself but sent in my money early as I could just to make sure I was envolved if I did get to make the trip.

No need to apologize. ;)

The friends thing was more of a thought that ended up getting all of the attention in the thread. The frustration is more about the people that don't read the information provided (3 sticky threads in the DCC forum) and would ask me all the questions instead. It happened constantly with the raffle & then again with the player contributions. I was always polite and accommodating. Now we're in mid-dec, and I'm trying to get ready for Christmas, and I'm still getting these inquiries multiple times a day. Both WBM and myself made very thorough, thought out posts detailing all the information anyone could need in order to participate. I'm just really frustrated/annoyed at some people's refusal to do a quick search (the DCC forum would've been a great place to start). Instead they would email/PM me... I guess it's easier for me to take my time and re-state all the info that's been provided than it is for some people to actually read all the info provided.

There's no one person or thing that has caused my frustration and I have no problem with anyone and no one owes me an apology. I just want people to actually read the information they're given instead of deciding not to read it all and ask me for the cliff notes version, or deciding not to even bother looking for it. Some people have even posted in the sticky thread that had all the info needed... easier for them to ask me the info in a nutshell instead of having to read the whole post to get the info they need.

(sigh) There, I've vented.

I don't know if this was directed at me because of my initial post or not. I haven't noticed anyone complaining about playing so I can only assume that this was directed at me.

My post was not intended to be me "crying". It was to let people know the frustration they can cause when they choose not to read the info provided for them.

It was also to suggest that playing priviledges should be reserved for AZB-1P forum members only. In order to participate on the forums you have to be a member... there is no guest posting. IMO, to participate (play pool) in the private room you should also be a member. It could easily get out of hand if we didn't restrict this... people could start bringing 2 & 3 friends and paying $25 ea for the 9 days as opposed to paying table time. It could take away from members being able to interact and shoot against each other and it's something that could also be taken advantage of.

I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do. You are correct in one sense... for the folks that never post, or rarely post, it's not as sociable of an event as it is for the people that participate on here more often. I've met lurkers in the past that are very nice people and because they've read the forum, they feel they know me. The problem lies in the fact that I do not know them. :(

You brought up some good points that I hadn't thought of. As mentioned in my PM, as I do not want to inconvenience anyone (since it's my problem anyhow) -- Todd Marsh can be scratched off the list. But please keep Dan Louie, who is a member of AZB, as a watcher/socializer (he won't be playing).

The whole point of this room last year was to get together with the people of this and the 1P forums in a controlled environment. Where we could play a little pool together and invite the pro's in to hang out a little.I think Timberly is right in suggesting a deadline for someone to have an account and for payment.
I will apologize in person for my tardiness, even though my check arrived before the actual deadline.
And Willie, you're officially challenged to play a match or 2. See you all soon.

i agree

The greatest thing I've heard so far is that we can use paypal next year.

You expect too much!!!

Folks, it's not that hard.
Step 1. Get yourself a $25 money order.
Step 2. Mail it to Timberly by the 15th of Dec.

If this confuses anyone please return to Step 1.

Just having some fun.

Timberly, WBM, Steve, Eydie, Donovan, Bankonit; I am looking forward to meeting all you enthusiasts. Thanks again for taking the time to make DCC an even more haappening place. See you guys on 1/5.

I have a great solution for all of this. While waiting to play, ill have a table set up for myself to sign autographs, take photos, and share your favorite derekdisco stories, (10 minutes max, I'm pressed for time).

Derekdisco

How much do you charge for autographs?
