I didn't say she, or anyone, was whining. I was just stating my point of view, and she responded to it with equal politeness. If you had Paypal, I can virtually guarantee you would have all payments in by now and in your bank account. I appreciate what your are doing with the AZ room, but frankly, I think you are creating LOADS more headache for yourself by refusing to use Paypal.
You are somewhat considered a leader as you took charge of the whole AZ room thing. Part of being a good leader is that people will do what they are told to do when you make things real easy for them, when there is even a little challenge to the task, they will forget. That's pretty much how I feel about it. We can't please everyone and if people don't like something, they can choose to not partake in it and they can take over and do a much better job next yrWilliebetmore said:

The reason I asked this was because they don't have a computer but after I told him about DCC he is thinking of coming and checking it out and I didn't want to exclude him from anything. So if this caused any frustration for anyone I'm sorry. I have done similiar things in other non billiards forums that I belong to and understand how peoples question can be a pain in the butt.

I have a great solution for all of this. While waiting to play, ill have a table set up for myself to sign autographs, take photos, and share your favorite derekdisco stories, (10 minutes max, I'm pressed for time).

There's not one person inparticular. There were a few people (some in threads and some in PM's/emails) that were wanting to do this. The more I thought about it, the more I didn't like it. So far, the people that have asked to do so have been contributing forum members that I think are being honest. I just see a real potential for this to be abused. Why pay $10 an hour table time when you can pay $25 and play for free all week long? Believe me, people will do this!boradriver said:

I have several friends coming down to Derby City this year and to my knowledge, NONE of them bothered to sign up for AZBilliards or send money to the raffle, but they ALL have asked about the room I sponsored. If they never took the time to DO anything...then it must not have been a priority.
Let them whine and complain all they want. Everyone can make excuses. Computers are available for free at every public library. There is no excuse for not having a computer. Or not having enough time to send in a check. Timberly gave enough time for letters to arrive via pony express. If you cant mail a letter in 3 months you dont have time to play a game of pool. Its no excuse.
You can just have several rates for playing pool posted there...

OnePocket.org actually has a Paypal account -- if I was paying closer attention I could have offered to make it availabe for the room 'dues'. I can offer that for next year. Paypal does charge about 3% to the vendor (me

I'd like to take a moment to extend my sincere thanks to Timberly, Steve Lomako and others that have worked hard to make the AZ-1P room happen again this year. It was a whole lot of fun last year, and promises to be even better this year. When the idea of the room first came up over a year ago, I told Tom Ferry that I couldn't do much to help because my own attention is focused on the One Pocket/Bank Pool Hall of Fame dinner at Derby City that I coordinate. I love the idea of the room, and like I said before, I enjoyed it thoroughly last year, but I can't help with the logistics. However, I can offer the Paypal for next year.

My suggestion after re-reading Timberlys original post. This year let everyone in that is a guest of an AZBilliards member. Just pay $30 bucks for the week. All proceeds to go towards next years room. (or pizza) They must forfeit table to any AZBilliards/Onepocket.org member after one set/game etc. or they must be playing on teams with the member they arrived with. There will always be freeloaders who want free pool so that needs to be nipped in the bud. I know from running a pool room, that once it starts it will snowball and be a real pain to reverse course.

It seems to me that the same people who are complaining about the way the room was orchestrated and the contributions were collected are most likely the same people who wouldn't take the responsibility that you have accepted without a gun being place to their head.

Eydie introduced me to a lot of vendors in VF and helped get the donations for the raffle rolling in along with donating some things herself.
There were many, many vendors and members that donated items (some worth hundreds of dollars) to the raffle. Cueandcushion not only donated hundreds of dollars worth of items but he (Craig) even went so far as to give the first 10 raffle ticket buyers a free t-shirt just for buying tickets.
Donovan spent his own money obtaining web space and maintaining that web space as items were donated for the raffle... all the while soliciting donations for the raffle from various vendors.
Williebetmore has been "the man", more so behind the scenes... he's the one that's been in contact with Greg at Diamond and making sure everything was a go.
Pool room owner and room organizer Steve Lomako has lent his opinions in the "meetings of the minds" along with his expertise on needed space & what we could do to better the room and maximize space. He'll also be playing a very active role on site where the room is concerned. (not to mention his moral support to me & helping me maintain my sanity
)Thanks to Williebetmore's inquiries, Steve's expertise, and etimmons generous donation of two table lights (one donated to the raffle), we'll have two tables this yr instead of one.
cueandcushion, Donovan, and BANKONIT were instrumental in promoting the raffle and getting people to buy tickets. Not only did BANKONIT solicit the majority of the first 10 ticket buyers, he even went so far as to drive an hour out of his way to pick me up (my car was having mechanical problems) and then he drove another hour out to Philly so that we could hold the drawing at a Joss tournament where there were AZ members and numerous witnesses to ensure the integrity of the drawing. BANKONIT is also providing us with the railbird name tags for the room at Derby.
Sizl (where are you, I hope all is well?) has provided banners for the room to be signed by members and pro's, along with arrows marking the way to the room.
As you can see, there are many, many more people involved in making this happen. In the grand scheme of things, I feel like a tadpole in a large pond simply collecting money while the others were putting forth more energy than myself. I'm just grateful to be a small part of the large group of phenomenal people that have donated time and/or money to make this happen.
