AZB Cue of the Year 2012 - Jake Hulsey "Veneered Wonder"

I would gladly pay for a calendar of the top 12 cues next year. Might be a nice addition to the voting. Enough could be charged for professional photos to be taken. I am sure someone here is capable of publishing the calendar.

I suggested that the winning cue get a great and extensive photoshoot completed.

How about being displayed at Derby City Classic as AZ cue of the year, along with the AZ case of the year?

I dont know this cuemaker from "Adam", but to pull this off, is quite the statement and I congratulate him.

(WHO OWNS THIS CUE YOU LUCKY SOB)

I had the pleasure to examine Jake Hulsey 2012 cue of the year up close and I'm very impress not only with his craftsmanship but more importantly the fact that the playability of this cue complement the design to produce a very balance cue that have a very distinctive signature hit that he could call his own.

Definitely gets an A+ for the playability and just looking at his shaft wood selection for this cue...its easily to see why they play so nice. The balance and feel was so good that I didn't realize it was a 59" cue. The design on this cue is definitely very unique and flow very well right down to the ivory butt sleeve.

I have to say, it seem that the Wrap-less cue is now the trend for 2013! I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Jake's unique design cues in 2013.

Ken, no supprise you never heard of him. This is the first one he felt worthy of posting pictures himself.

Duc, you are right. His cues play better than they look.

For everyone else, if you think he is a one hit wonder. Wait till you see his next cue.

Now I have to figure out what to call him. Some how Jake just don't fit anymore. Maybe Mr. Cue-of-the year winner, Mr Wonder. Maybe his Exulted 3 Point Cue Builder?

Pretty soon Texas is going to rival Florida for the biggest cuemakers union.

Great entries.

IMHO, I don't see why Keith Hanssen didn't get more votes for his cue but who knows.

Looking forward to 2013 entries.

I have played In a tournament here, in a very small town. 4 of 16 players were playing with a cue of thier own construction. Since then more have been added. Tough market to try to sell cues in for sure.

The cue is flat out spectacular. Design and execution are amazing.

Generally I am attracted to very old school cues, it's hard to impress me with something "new". This definitely blows me away.

I always encourage people to show off cues and especially encourage the makers. I appreciate their efforts. In this case it goes far beyond merely appreciating the effort. This cue sets a bar for others to reach.

I will look forward to seeing more from the maker.
