I accept sir and am glad a challenge came so soon...

You Sir are Officially Challenged!!! I am here to take your Tooting Horn!!

Challenge is $50 10ball --- I don't care the length and
and $50 One pocket again I don't care the length

All in good spirits and I know that I am the underdog here. I am hoping that you dog it as you say you do  May the best fat man win and I am the fat man!!

You chose the place. I can not play next week during the week but am free most of the time. Next week my boss is in town with me all week

Accept ?????

I accept and am glad that I didn't have to post a daily thread tooting my own horn....(BTW... that was a sarcastic reply to the usual crap) there's no telling what kind of crap I would've caught if I had.

Let's play at Shooter's in Riverside unless there are a bunch of people that want to be railbirds or if that's too far for you. I will be willing to play at Hard times also. So of those two places let me know. We'll play a race to 9 ten ball and a race to three one pocket.

What happens if one of us loses one match and wins the other??? Is it considered a tie and the crown remains with me???? Or do we have play off?

Jaden.

I say playoff ... you pick the game that you want in the playoff being its your tiara!
But as weak as I play I will be lucky to find the room.

Shooters is cool. Not that far from me.

The tooting was a bit tongue in cheek....

I will be in California on Labor Day weekend for either the Catherine Alden Memorial tournament at Shooter's in Riverside or Jay Helfert's tournament at Hollywood Billiards.

I would like to play you then, at either of the 2 places after tournament play has ended on one of the days.

Ray

BTW, the reason I'm even bothering to respond to this thread is because of the way you self-promote yourself and your game. I've seen you play a few times and have played you myself once. Perhaps you are going a little overboard with the "horn tooting". If it is meant as good fun and you are showing more of a dry sense of humor, then I would recommend some emoticons or a note indicating or implying that all this "tooting" is a bit tongue-in-cheek. JMHO.

The tooting was a sarcastic response to a reply, but I am confident in my game. You had caught me at a bad time the time we played because I had just gotten my glasses was trying to play with glasses for the first time, and had flown in from washington after working a 70 hour week that previous week. I was tired cranky and a bit pissed off. :) :)

OK Jaden, I'll bite.

I'm a lowly C- player (Corey can vouch for that), but I will play the winner of your match with frankincali.

Riverside is too far, but Hard Times would suffice.

:D

Russ......

Can I declare myself the AZB King of AZ Originally From Cali?

If anyone originally from California, but now living in AZ who also posts on AZB, wants to play me some, you got all the $50 action you can stand.

Edit: I just realized that opens me up to having to play SJD $50 one-pocket. So now I'll modify my declaration and call myself the "AZB King of AZ Originally From Cali Under 40"!!

I have only begun to toot my own horn Biattchh.... Again, I haven't seen a single challenge yet, so if you want to run your mouth then get someone to stand up.

Until then, I will get on here and toot my own horn every single day. In Fact, I' going to make a daily thread entitled. Tooting my own horn until someone steps up and challenges me.

You don't play well for money

You haven't played in many tournaments (you mentioned in another thread that I didn't quote)

After the first two statements you still say your confident in your game and when you come across someone on here that has played you before and can attest to your game, you have no less than 4 reasons why you played badly when you shot against them.

The only reason I bring these things up is because you do come across as "tooting your own horn" on here at times and I watched you do it again this weekend. You were in the TAR chat room this weekend and stated that Frank asked you to play in the invitational tournament this weekend and that the only reason you didn't play was because you didn't have the money for the entry fee, otherwise you would've.

I've been close friends with many in the southern CA area for many years and I can tell you that I was told that you were not asked to play in this invitational event. Your posts lead me to believe that I was told correctly. If you always lose money matches, haven't played in many tournaments, and you're not known in the upper echelon pool circle, why would you have been asked to play in an invitational tournament for "Best in the West" against a field of invited players that are well above your skill level and are well known players all over, not just socal?

Ok I"m the bernie Friend of Cali...

Ok. So I was quick on the draw and was able to post that I was the King of AZB in Cali before anyone else.

It's porbably the only time I'll be King because I'm sure I'll lose it with this first challenge.

I have been challenged and like Joey A said maybe the Reigning King should be able to call others out. It doesn't really matter because I won't be king for long and have already been challenged.

I'm sure that there are some San Diego players chomping at the bit to get enough posts on here to be able to challenge me since they know that there is atleast some money involved.

So I will just say let's have some fun and let things go by the wayside.

I was trying to woof it up in fun because that's what I thought the whole idea was about, but hey I've been wrong before.

I just hope that we can have some fun with this and continue to get along. I got a lot of positive support about this last fiasco and want to thank those who helped me to see that it just doesn't matter what a board thinks.

This does, however, go beyond this board and just online posting. There are some things at play that go beyond even my current reltaionships with people.

I have to apologize to my bro 9ball101. I left him a pretty nasty voicemail. Sorry Bro.

I have worked hard at my game and to experience the disrespect I get from certain players, (not talking about this board) is bad.

My bro told me some pretty hard stuff and I agree. Sometimes it's hard to just keep your mouth shut. Especially when you aren't a money player and find it hard to make it to tourneys.

Oh well. lets get on with the playin and enough of the other crap.

Jaden.

WEll then that would be a lie.

Frank did ask me if I wanted to play in it and until he posts otherwise you can go pound sand. As I've stated before, Frank has played me and knows how I play. HE DID ask if I wanted to play in it after stating that there was an open spot. That confused me a little because I thought there shou;d've been two open spots since it was originally ten players. I tried to get the money together by calling some people and was not able to. So I'm sorry that you were misinformed.

Everytime I start to calm down another jerk comes on and calls me a liar.

For those of you who might have been there and heard me talking to CJ saying that I had plenty of money, the first thing that I did when Frank told me there was an open spot if I wanted it was check my bank account, It turned out that the Economic stimulus check that I was expecting hadn't come in yet, so I called some people to see if I could get the money, well I called people that I owed money to, to see if they wouldn't mind me using money to play in the tourney. They didn't have the extra money to spare and didn't think that I did either, so I couldn't play. I'm sure there were people who heard me talking on the phone trying to get the money together too, but if they're in AZ land, they're not talking.

Jaden, it seems the easiest way to resolve all this confusion for everyone is to have Frank Dabarbr post that he asked you to play in this event, his reasons for inviting you (or offering the open spot, I am not sure which applies), as well as an accurate assessment of your skill as it compares to the other participants in the tournament.

He is an active participant in this forum and a respected player and I do not doubt that he will clear things up for all of us that are wondering.

You must understand that you cannot make a statement and then say that until "he posts otherwise you can...". You are innocent of the claims of greatness until proven guilty of them. :D On the other hand, you are also innocent of the claims of "posturing up" until proven guilty. :D

Frank Dabarbr, could you post your version of the events here?

I pm'ed him.

I pm'ed him last night asking him to respond here if he didn't mind. I wasn't going to say anything about it because I didn't want to put pressure on him to respond by letting everyone know that I asked him to.

Jaden.

I don;t think it's fair to ask him his reasons for asking me f I wanted to play in it given all of the flack that I have taken but I don't mind if he posts what he thinks of my game and how it relates to those other players.

It may well have been that he knew that I would post up against anyone and he may have liked to have had more money for the tournament. It doesn't really matter to me. The only thing that matters is that I am not lieing and will not take being called a liar.

Posting up $500 against anyone, as you put it, is very admirable. If you are not afraid to put in such money for a tournament, why not put up the same against someone in a gambling match?

I feel a tournament is not so different from gambling. In the case of this tournament, which I believe was winner-take-all, is it not similar to betting $500 for a $4000 return on your investment?

The reason I ask that Frank state the reason he invited you is because his opinion is highly valued. If he attests to the high level of your play as it compares to other well-known players, it will help your argument that you should have been on the initial list of invitees for such a prestigious event.

EG

Just trying to sort all this out in my own mind (and maybe the minds of others). :o

Just to clear some things up:

I talked to Frank, he is on his way out of town and won't be able to respond, and he stated that when he saw Jaden, as a friendly comment he suggested that Jaden should be out there (in the tournament, which had already begun).

It was just the type of friendly jovial thing that we all say to each other every day. It was not an invitation.

Now, the only one with authority to invite was me.

I had a list of 30+ potentials and invitees. Due to one reason or another, we had our 10, but unfortunately two of them withdrew at the very last minute. On game day, I was not looking for replacements.

All of the players in the "Battle of Los Angeles" at one time or another in their careers has dedicated and committed themselves to playing professionally in pro tournaments. These players chose their passion and love for the game over $$$. I hold them all in the highest regard and am honored to call them friends. I told them in the players meeting how grateful I was that they participated. Thanking them each personally.

Jaden, I am sorry for any misunderstanding. Get yourself out there and compete with the top players!!! Turning Stone, the US Open, and Reno Opens are right around the corner.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you Corey.

Thank you Corey and I look forward to playing you in any upcoming tournament that we may meet in. As I had stated the only thing I had a problem with was being called a liar, so I expect an apology from the person who stated that I was lying about what Frank had said.

I hope that he will come on and state what his opinion of my game as it relates to those other players is, it would be informative for me as well. I can't expect him to though. He had asked me to start a regular practice session of one pocket with him and if we ever get a chance I will. The practice against a good opponent is always appreciated. Too many people that are at his level of play will only play for money. I think it does a disservice to the game. I never ask for weight and will only play with what I can easily afford to lose.

In answer to the question about putting up five hundred dollars in a matchup, it's different to go and play one player one match for five hundred than to have a chance to play eight other players in a round robin format that is setup the way that was.

I hope we have a chance to play each other Corey just for fun. Maybe if I can manage against all odds to hang onto the King of Cali crown, you can challenge me for it, all in fun of course. That was the intent of the original thread that I was asked to post that was misinterpreted and started this whole fiasco.

Again, if someone wants to challenge my ability that's fine there are many who think that I am a low A to a high B and some who know that I am capable of higher level play. The thing I do have a problem with is being called a liar. I won't stand for it. That's not to say that you can go and call me a liar and expect me to give you a money game. You might get something else if you try. I will play anyone even sets at a level that I can afford though. I don't ask for weight because I know that if I'm on my game I don't need it and if I'm not on my game then I don't care about the money.

It's not about money to me, it's about the game. That's why I've offered help on this site whenever I could and I knoiw I've helped a lot of people with some of the information that I've posted and others have helped me. Colin Colenso has given me a lot of insight and I respect his opinion even when we disagree. PAtrick Johnson at first had some ideas that I didn't agree with, but has since proven to be knowledgable as well. I tried to keep an open mind about everything that I've read on this site.

There are many who don't though. There are many people on this site that have made it less than enjoyable and I'm not even referring to how I've been treated. Some fo the ways that I've seen others treated is reprehensible. If I saw someone treat someone in person like I've seen on this site I would step up and say something to that individual.

I'm a nice person, a little narcissistic but I genuinely try to be nice to people. That has been to my disadvantage in pool and there have been times when I have let up on people that I shouldn't have. I have a "it must be fair" complex. I want everything to be even; however, I've come to the realization that in pool it can't really be fair. you have to focus and play your game everytime you step to the table if you want to take this game seriously and I'm going to try and do that. I've made strides in that fashion and I'm getting better.

Sorry for the book. My wife asked me if I was writing a book and I replied yes.

Well I think this will be all for a while.

Jaden.

1. I did not call you a liar. I stated what I saw you saying in the chat room and what I had heard from someone that would know if you had been invited to play or not. I then took your comments from this thread and said that I was more inclined to believe what I had heard from the other person. Life is too short & I'm too old to beat around the bush. If I know someone is a liar, I specifically state that they are a liar. Otherwise, I observe and ask questions as I did with you. I do not owe you an apology because I didn't call you a liar.

2. The story you gave on here about being asked to play in the open spot is vastly different from the story that Frank relayed to Corey. Another example of why I do not owe you an apology.

3. You owe Frank an apology for ever mentioning his name about this in the TAR chat room because it has now spilled over to here and has put him on the spot. You either misunderstood what he said (how can that really be if the tournament had already started?) or you took what he said and spun it a little.
