AZB Pool Tournament at BCAPL in Vegas!

Just signed up. This should be fun, this is my 2nd last day of my trip, so I SHOULD be in stroke by then. I hope I draw lee first;)

Looks like I'll be flying in on the 25th for the huge furniture market that starts on the 29th. :( Hate I'll miss what promises to be the biggest AZB get together ever. Looking forward to pics and stories tho!

I am thinking about putting a bounty on Put_upor_shutup though! Something tells me he might be our pre-tournament favorite. Put_upor_shutup you should run through Billiard University's tests so we can see what ya got! On video for us all to see too! :D

Mine's there...the good and the bad!

That might be an interesting test. Everyone run through Billiard University's tests and we can see how it all stacks up once we meet each other in Vegas!

I dont even know what that is..I rarely play pool tournaments actually..I have played a money match or 2 however..Where can i go for this test?
 
I just signed up. I'm really looking forward to this. Thanks for putting it together, Ken.

P.S. The rules should include - no laughing at players who can't run more than 3 balls. That would make me feel a whole lot better.

I agree with this request, although I don't think Einstein will have much to worry about on the running more than 3 balls count.

I'm scared, lol but I'm going to throw this option of mixing the az tournament with the Texas Bumps tournament out there? They are both scheduled to go off at the same time and I think rather than conflict in the same area at the same time we should consider this as an option;
1 It puts both events together
2 It’s a $5K guaranteed prize fund and an azer could win $2K playing Texas Bumps
(It is a $20 entry BUT I could arrange it so any azer not wanting to pay the $20 could play for free and would not be competing for prize money)
3Texas bumps is a fun game that levels the playing field and that is the idea of the az tourney.
4 I’m in charge of running the Texas Bumps tournament!

Joe, I am wide open to anything. I think the guaranteed purse and level playing field are very attractive. Hard part is getting 32 guys to agree. ;)

Couple of things:

JoeT is trying to get the AZ tournament to play at a different time than the Texas Bumps. That is a good thing - so they can play in both. (Texas Bumps is $5,000 prize fund - $2,000 for first).

He said AZ players could play in the Texas Bumps at no fee. That is not what he meant. There could be a free 'AZ event' but you cannot mix paid and non-paid playrs in one event.

Joe is driving and cannot make this correction but will confirm it.



As far as the event. There are 31 players. I still think single elimination is the way to go. Too many are going to be like me - they can get there but they cannot hang around waiting. I predict you will lose too many players if you do Double elimination. There should be a way to sign up on site and that means having an even larger field.
DE is going to drag out and become a burden - IMHO.

This is about meeting people and putting names with faces. Not about who is the best player or any of that stuff.

There will be a LOT of things going on besides the Texas Bumnps event. There will be a BEF fundraiser (Challenge the Stars) around 6 PM There will be 6 Pocket Challenges and other things.

Just my thoughts - I dont want this to become a chore or a burden on anyone. Keep it fun! I also suggest just doing a simple paper chart. (Who gonna provide the chart)?
