I was sitting here thinking about something, the timing is bad, as its a end-of-year sort of thing. But i'll probably forget to post it later, so here is my idea, just a idea that we should put to a vote, and i have no idea who's going to run it.

Should we have a "Poster of the year?", meaning who pit up the most, best, informative posts without getting into a war. Could be Jay with his PI updates and tails of yesteryear, CJ and TOI, PJ, Stan Shuffett, or people who provide links to matches, streamers etc. The political grinders in the NPR forum. ETC Etc Etc

The biggest asset to AZB as a community to get the vote. the rep game has been over for 4 or 5 years, there are great people here who contribute lots-even if you dont agree with it, they are still are doing their thing.

so yes or no?

I think is obviously who are the more valuable posters here. We have a lot of feedback posts on the forum, so everybody could make an idea.

It no needs poll.

At the moment, due to serious personal issues, I must decline this honor. Thank you all very much!

Title it most informative posters in different categories. Because there are many.

That's a hard choice for me. My favorite posts come from Alfie, Jay and Fredie or anyone else who post old pool stories. I love those posts.

I like this, would be even more interesting of some guy with lots of money put up a prize for the winner :grin-square::grin-devilish:

Popularity is a bad criteria for rating the value of a poster....IMO

Let's use CJ vs PJ as an example. There would be passionate advocates of both. In my opinion the conversations were more informative when PJ could break down CJ's posts. Who would win in a vote? CJ I am sure since he seems to have more followers. But PJ helped CJ get to the popularity he enjoys today. And to be honest....I rarely read threads with CJ involved anymore. I went too long without seeing anything new and informative from what was posted last week. CJ is left unchallenged. We just get his soliloquy nowadays.

In summary....

I love the contrast of opinions here. I only wish the forum had the ability to self moderate like http://slashdot.org/. It would make reading some of the more volatile threads a LOT easier!

Nope, no one here like that. Just posers that like to throw money in peoples faces is all.

Dumb a ss thread anyway. Been done before. Peoples feelings can get hurt over it.

Truth is, everyone on AZ is the most valuable poster. People that teach, offer opinions, tell a joke, post a funny link, etc. I don't log in every day to read one members threads or posts. I log in to read what everyone has to say.

The only thing achieved by voting someone the Most Valuable Poster is to devaluate others efforts.

Guess what? I said hi to Johnny Depp once. I rub elbows with A Listers.

That's kind of my feeling too. Let's say you have one poster you consider "best" and then every single other poster started posting the same type of things, in the same style. You'd be sick of the site in a week. Maybe in just one hour.

There's another thread asking "who are some of your favorite posters" and it lets people put up a list instead of trying to put one guy on a pedestal above all others. It feels less "nuthuggy" that way. And instead of someone getting their feelings hurt, a few are positively tickled to be on someone's list.

I like the posts by Okie, Blue Hog, and Creedo on this subject.
Everybody has a point of view.

And I miss PJ and the Thaiger...I disagreed with both a fair amount...
..but they were clear and precise and gave you something to think about.
