Azbilliards' Person Of The Year

OK, I understand your distaste for stickies....but how else to do it? Or maybe the sticky would be the POLL where people could vote for the nominee of their choice. How about this: During November people can nominate whomever they want for AZB'er of the year. The ten (or five?) people getting the most nominations become the finalists and are put into a sticky poll. The poll remains up for the first three weeks of December and then the winner is announced. We would still need someone to take responsibility for tabulating the nominations.

That sounds fine- an example of the proper use of a sticky IMHO.

Yes, but....

Uhmmmm....The OHB award is a fine idea.....but why do we really need to cast votes.....Votes have obviously been cast all year....Mr Wilson & Mike already know who has the most votes by the rep points...Just cause you max out at 10 does not mean you have the most rep points...I would hate to see someone win that just happens to be the "most popular" in November.....(Votes should be for the whole year)

Rep points could be re-set on Jan 1.

If we have to vote....I nominate Drivermaker....
Maybe rep points are not the best idea as some of our posters may not use this feature. If you have nominations all through the month of November, surely any worthy candidate for AZB'er of the Year would receive enough nominations to get into the top 10 nominees, don't you think? Also, I like the idea of nominations through November, voting throuh December and the winner announced at DCC.

I would guess that anyone that actually posts in this thread to nominate will probably have used the rep feature.....

I would also guess that there are "lurkers" that read this board to learn, stay informed etc. that want to remain annonymous but would / have used the rep feature...

I think a "thread" would "limit" the vote....JMO

You may well be correct

I have no real stake in this since I would not be a candidate and since I don't know any of the other posters personally. I have no big problem with using the rep points, at least to select 5-10 candidates. One question I have is whether there is a way to put up a poll where the poll doesn't allow a person to vote more than once. I guess one nice feature of the rep point idea is that you could just announce at the end of the year who the winner is. But then I don't know about zeroing out the rep points for the next year.

Try as I might and as much as I respect the people nominated, I cannot for the life of me think of a good reason to have an AZB "Person of The Year".

I have no problem with you saying that you think that Eydie is ahead, but, for the life of me, I can't understand why you seem to be singling out Timberly.

I Am Wondering If Azbilliards Give Out Person Of The Year Award. If They Don't Have It, I Suggest That We Should Start One.

Who Would You Like To Nominate As Your Person Of The Year Award?

John
I don't know if I weighed in on this topic yet, but, I think for the inaugural AZBilliard Person of the Year Award, it has to go to Mike. And then, after that, the award should be named after him.

After reading your post, I had to....

Chuckle.:D Even though I have jumped on board and tried to help get this "contest" organized, I have to admit that I don't really have a god reason in mind. I suppose most awards like this are intended to motivate people to higher levels of performance, but it seems unlikely that this one would serve that purpose. Your post will lead me to forego any further efforts on this project until someone puts up a really good reason to proceed.

I sir agree with you 100%. What's the point? Being a decent human being is not a contest. "Generosity has it's own taste! Once aquired, everything else is just cheap whiskey". Gian

I was just curious.
I got a totally different feeling from your post and I just wanted to clarify.
As you know, on the internet, it is hard to tell intent.

Could I please have my post put back up? I made a heartfelt thank you and posted my opinion on the topic of this thread. I see no reason why my post should've been pulled. Since one of the offending posts has been pulled, I'll gladly edit the part about how people should ignore the ignorance and keep this thread positive.

So many people contribute in so many ways to this forum. I used to go on AZ strictly for tournament info, until I discovered the Forums. Now it is my favorite part of AZ. Truly a place to discuss all things related to Pool. And full of informed contributors, and a few not so well informed but highly opinionated. Thank goodness for Mr. T, aka Wilson.

I truly believe that it was by airing my gripe on here that I forced Deno's hand and made him pay me the money I was owed by the IPT. For reasons like this, the Forums have great value. A free exchange of ideas is beneficial in so many respects. We have brought pressure to bare on KT and illuminated his scurrilous operation. This has become the players first court of appeals. We may not succeed in making KT pay up, but he is running scared now.

With so many of us being in communication, it becomes much more difficult for someone who is up to no good in the billiard community. They will be "outed" post haste. So keep up the good work AZers. You all deserve a pat on the back.

Hey Bill. How about me I voted for myself. Where's my one vote? You mean that this time around i'm going to get screwed again? Woe is me! I can't win.
