AZbilliards Room at DCC?

Do we have an AZbilliards members room this year? If so is it to late to send money? I have not seen any mention of a room this year as in years past. I have always paid into the members room even if I did not go. Please let me know what is going on. Thanks.

Someone seriously needs to call Greg and confirm or deny this.

I am gonna be pizzed if there is no AZ room. For the price of what I spend at DCC, I could take my wife to the Phillipines for a week. The AZ room fellowship is a big part of why I go..

I posted a thread about this not too long ago. I don't think it will happen. I had always sent in my share even though I had never actually used it. But it was always fun woofing with some other members in the room.

If it's not too late and an AZBilliards Room can happen, and I hope it does, count me in.

If there is going to be a room they need to post up a link to donate so we can get it going.

Last year was the first time I actually played any in the AZ room although I have donated every year it has been an option. Hopefully it will happen again this year.

I won't be there this year....otherwise I'd be up for the drinking ring game. I was seeing double when I left that night. Don't know how much I lost, but I had fun doing it.

If there isn't an AZ room than that is very sad. I paid every year and it was a big into getting upstairs at night. I keep late hours at DCC. It was a nice place to meet fellow members and such. I hope people abusing the room for free pool didn't discourage them. You could easily police that. Just make forum members all post in a thread...take a screen shot and then provide it to prove they are members before a badge is issued.
 
Don't think it's gonna happen this year. They need the space for tournament tables, plus there were other problems which I'm not at liberty to discuss on here.

That's too bad I had a lot of fun in there last year. I'll be going next year (concentrating on paying stuff off this year). Hopefully it'll come back
 
If there is not going to be an AZbilliards Room this year I don't think I will be going to DCC. I love seeing Big time pool being played but it is hard to just watch and watch and watch. You need to go blow off some steam in the AZ room and try some of those moves you just saw. That is where I meet Little Joe which lead to me taking lessons from him. Oh well enjoy.

I've never used the AZ room, but I've never had trouble finding some place to play after hours. I dont think you should let that be the determining factor in deciding not to attend arguably the best pool event of the year.

no az room is a shame. i cant make it this year but would have donated so others could benefit from it. on a side note a friend of mine was there last year who is about as into pool as our govt politicans are into compromising and he said the upstaris layout is no good. while trying to access the business center which is upstairs someone told him he had to have a badge or braclet because the tournament was going on until a certain time. they have absolutely no justification in that matter and the hotel mgmt was notified. not every person on the property is there for pool. a few friends of mine will be passing through there on business and stopping at the casino for a while and will see if this is continuing. its bad enough that people have to pay to get into the action room but a hotel facility is obserd. greed is a powerfull thing.

The AZ room is one and I mean just one of the best things happening at DCC and it is fun just to interact with some of the guys on here. I look at it as a reunion. I have made a lot of friends there and it is a great place to discuss some of the goings on at DCC. I was so looking forward to it being there and I am very disappointed that it is not.

I see great players here in Atlanta all the time but only get to see great AZ members once a year.
 
That's a shame. Met a lot of great people in the AZ Room over the years.
 
That AZ room has been happening for a long time. Things change but this is a facet that will be missed by many. I think the room was not respected by many it was originally a location to play for the AZer who paid in advance as place to hang out and meet and for the elite players to practice, at one time there was an elite player list no badge or not on the list then you do not play. There was a room watcher on hand at most times originally. It was great. Soctt Lee and Jerry Brieseth have given clinics over the years in the AZ room. Efren has been in the AZ room a time or two at least using the tables. Beers have been drank, racks ran and friendships made. It has been a real boon for the forum to allow people to put a face to a AZ handle name.

The AZ room was invaded many times over the years and taken over by people who were neither AZ or elite player. I am sure the unnamed incident was similar in circumstance and perhaps pushed to the next level. I am sure they can use the room for more tourney tables.
 
I think the main issue is that Jerry and Mike cannot be expected to babysit and monitor the room all the time and I am not sure anyone else would have the backbone to tell the gamblers to go take a hike....

I know that on several of the nights the gamblers ran AZers out of the AZ room by pretty much woofing and snot slinging that here they were wanting to play for big money and the AZers were playing for funsies.....

Maybe if we had Azers offer to play room monitor as well as kicking in for the room it would be an option.. Only Mike and Jerry know for sure..... Biggest thing is would they be willing to be an asshole and throw known players out of the room????....

The #1 public enemy to me was Tony "Hey we are playing for 5 grand but we are nits and don't want to have to pay for a table" Coleman as I saw him run AZers out on more than 1 night...
