Finally made it home after 13 hours on the road. It was great to see as many AZ'ers as I did over the weekend. I made it to the top 25% in the open amateur, and got to play Mika Immonen for the first time (just one game, he won.)

For the first time, I met: CatsCradle, DWOB, Retail?(something?), & Tikkler.

Got to talk to the following who I'd met before: ClassicCues, CornerStone, CueCaps, SammDiep, Hal2, HighEndCues, iBuyCues, JCIN, Jeeves, Jack Justis, KCHighEndCues, OMGWTF, RatCues, Sarah Rousey, John Schmidt, & Barry Szamboti (forget his AZ handle.)

And got to spend some quality time with: APASleeper, ChrisByrne, ProfessorCue, & Scott Lee.

The Friday night AZ dinner at Sullivan's was fantastic. Thanks to Hayden for putting it together.

Somehow I missed: Jespiddlin, JoeyA, Sev, & TheMarsMan.

Sorry if I forgot anyone. Looking forward to seeing you all again next year & meeting some more. I had a great time this year.

Cuaba,

I played in both the Senior and the Open events. I must have missed the post about the AZ dinner at Sullivan's. Wound up eating at the Outback. I'm somewhat disappointed about having to forfeit my open match because of the scheduling conflict. There were several of us oldsters with the same problem. They warned us but this is the first time the conflict occurred so early on Saturday. Cashed in both anyway. Going to the BCA's or the ACS event? Might meet you there.

hey

Cuaba, it was great getting to meet you in person. Hope to see you again soon.

See You In Vegas!

Cuaba...I really enjoyed dinner at Sullivan's with you, and the others. It's funny how long we've known each other, and I never knew your screename! See you in Vegas!

Scott,
It was great to get to talk to you at length at Sullivan's. You are doing many great things for the sport.

There are many great places in Vegas for food & drinks. I hope we can find the time.

Lyn,
I won a spot in the A.C.S. singles, but it starts the day after I get back from Asia. I'll only have time for the V.N.E.A. Team Tournament.

Maybe see you there?

Sorry Cuaba,

We no longer have a Valley league in either Vegas or in Western New York. I play in the BCAPL / ACS when in Vegas. We were second in the Masters nine ball team and fifth/six in the open eight ball teams last year. My scotch doubles partner and I were third at the BCA's. Way too few players at the ACS's. They shortened the entire event one day this year! I will be at the SBE eight ball in June.

Dont know how you missed me. If you walked by Kleins, Deikmans or Crown cues you were bound to see me. I was doing some serious ear chewing.:grin:

I met flyingsnail by accident. If I remember correctly he is Kenny Koo and was getting very high marks on his wrap work from both Steve Klein and Tim Scruggs when I talked with them.

I thought Tikkler was there. I think I looked right at him come to think of it and it didnt register. Dam.

Also talked with Hightower for a bit. Seems like a nice guy. Very reserved though.

It was great to see everyone again and for those i didn't get to see, I'll just have to wait and hope to see everyone next time.

Hi Denny,

Was that you at checkout at the Motel 6 Sunday morning? If it was, I'm the guy who looked nearly dead from lack of sleep:eek:! I think your friend was filling the ice bucket for the trip home.

Lyn

Yes Lyn that was us. Next year you will have to introduce yourself. If you're staying there have you ever had the breakfast over at Rubys in the mall? It's pretty good. Until next year take care!

I talked to most of the guys you mentioned.

On Saturday I was walking around with a beer in one hand and an old Brunswick 360 in the other. I managed to play some games with it on Chris Byrnes table downstairs.

Pleasure meeting the AZBers that I did!

Folks:

Try as I might, I regret not being able to meet all the AZB'ers that I wanted to, due to competing in an event, as well as spending a lot of time grinding it out (or, if not actually playing, sweating other matches out) in "The Pit."

It was a pleasure to meet the following AZBers that I welcomed the opportunity to meet: JesPiddlin, CrownCues, CornerMan, SpiderWebComm, JCIN, Sarah Rousey, PoolMonkey, GMAC, SammDiep.

Pro players that I got to spend a little time with: Mika Immonen, Darren Appleton, John Schmidt, John Hennessee, Vincent Facquet, and of course, Sarah Rousey. Also a "shout out" to my personal friend, Morgan Steinman (WPBA pro from Newburgh, NY), who took Jennifer Barretta hill-hill in their 10-ball match.

I regret missing the opportunity to meet the following: Scott Lee, CrownCityCorey, OMGWTF, Sev, JoeyA, ...and a veritable list of others too numerous to enumerate here. I hope to meet these fine folks at another show or tournament.

After four days of not going to bed until 5:00am, I'm feeling the effects, and I'm sure it will take my body and mind a couple days to re-settle into a "normal" work-day routine. As I'm sure others can relate to, "oh but what four days they were -- what memorable stories I came away with..." Well worth it, and as in years past, I'll be returning again and again!

Sean,
Sorry I missed you. I also saw Cornerman, CueMan, Drawman, & Watk69 (I keep remembering more people.)

I meant to say hi to Dynamite (Darren Appleton.) I got to meet & play him at a tourney in Bangkok in December.

Next year I'll have to get a Cuaba logo T-Shirt. Then, instead of looking for the big fat ugly drunk guy, you can look for the big fat ugly drunk guy in the Cuaba shirt.

Thanks Bora Driver!

I missed a gang of people too.

For those who I did meet, sorry about not spending much time with you all. The commentary took a lot of my time and energy. I met a large number of AZBers and missed far more.

I didn't have time to visit the booths like I wanted to. I barely had time to visit the Predator's booth where I needed to drop off a shaft for discussion. I dropped off the shaft on Sunday after the 10 Ball Championship was over.

I didn't even have time to go out for a nice cheesesteak.

I had an invitation to do a little gambling but I didn't have time for that either. For the most part I sat in the booth until my voice cracked, then I rested and then I did the same thing day after day. Luckily I recovered enough on Sunday to do the whole day and had a great time with Thorsten Hohmann in the booth doing commentary on the Schmidt/Deuel championship match.

Maybe next year I will get a chance to meet more people.

If anyone wants to attend a tournament where there is an event made just for you, should check out the Super Billiards Expo. Just get your hotel reservations in SOON. They sell out quickly. Thanks BoraDriver!

JoeyA,
I saw you in the booth but you were always busy. I didn't want to bother you.

...Somehow I missed: Jespiddlin, JoeyA, Sev, & TheMarsMan....

JesPiddlin was right where JesPiddlin was supposed to be... in the Crown Cues booth, signing in AZers who were there! (We were on the opposite side of the curtain from Chris Byrnes, who I believe you said you spent some time visiting.)

JoeyA, I was really looking forward to meeting you and a few others. I guess it'll be next year, now. I only know of a couple more events we MAY make it to, before then.

We just got home around noon, today. Had to deliver a masse' shaft to one of our customers in TN on our way back. Had a nice trip.

MOre, later. We still have to go pick up the dog and do some unpacking.

Sorry about that. I got close.

What part of Oklahoma are you in? I'll be in Tulsa next weekend, and I'm sure I'll hit Magoo's.

You weren't drunk. LOL. Good to see you again. Chris.
