Bad Blood. SVB and Dennis

If it was cue ball in hand and you did that with the cue ball, that would be okay, right?

probably so but he took out a pocketed ball to line up something. I'm not sure exactly what he did, I went back & looked at the thread from the derby. here is cornerman's original post
8-7 Shane, Dennis on a tough run.

Dennis grabs a ball out of play (13-ball), puts it on the table and lines up where he needs to line up the cueball for a shot on a troubled pair. Shane asks Dennis to hold on and gets a referee. Shane shows the referee what happened, and the ref calls a foul on Dennis.

Dennis concedes the game and match, hits the tied up balls and storms off.

Freddie <~~~ that's too many, Dennis

So he's mad because he couldn't have things his way huh. It's kind of common sense in my opinion that you're not allowed to use objects to guide a shot. Especially at his level, as a professional, he should know way better considering he's been in this industry for years. Heck even in the APA you get a foul if you put chalk on the rail to assist with a bank shot.

I also couldn't understand what Dennis was saying in the world 9 ball championships regarding the magic rack debate saying he couldn't do that. All I heard was "You can't do that" x5 times but never heard his reasoning. But I feel that ever since SVB called a foul on Dennis, he's been waiting for opportunities to strike back.

I was at the DCC a couple of years ago, watching Dennis playing someone, I don't remember who. Dennis was at the table and the other player was not even watching. Dennis made a foul and called it on himself, knowing the other player was not paying attention. That was a class act by Dennis.

If SVB had the same character, he would have just told Dennis what he did was not allowed, and it would be a foul if he did it again.

So you are saying that in this instance Dennis should have called a foul on himself so Shane didnt have to get the tourney director involved? That kind of character?

Let's not forget his scumbag move(quit in the middle of a $$$ match he was losing and took the money) on Rob Melrose

This was at Derby & don't think it was streamed. It's so unthinkable to pick up a ball to check to see if a ball passes through a gap & believe it's not going to be a problem. I've never heard of a rule for this but that's probably because nobody would ever consider doing something like that.

Amateurs do it quite a lot. Everyone was surprised DO didnt get it. Even Jay came on here and said he told DO, he was wrong.

I have never seen someone do it like Dennis did (taking a pocketed ball out of a pocket).
What amateurs sometimes do is see if the cueball fits when they have ball-in-hand.

That is dirtbaggery. Is there more to the story? Link?

Eric

He took back his share of the money not all the money. There is a long thread about it from the DCC a few years back where I believe the opponent himself started the thread.

Just wondering if there was some kind of dispute prior, causing Dennis to pull up?

If not, i would be surprised if his action didnt dry up some?

Dennis also left the final match at DCC 14.1 mini tournament, just to watch DCC final in 9 Ball Division.

The other incident where DO tried to measure with a ball against SVB was all on the main stream camera. they panned over after a match had completed on the main table just in time to catch it all.

That looked bad for DO. From the video, it look like they are playing a race, Dennis got it back to even and decided he didn't like the game anymore and wanted to quit and get all his money back. Rob mentioned a buyout and since he took the cash off the light, i hope he didnt give it all back to DO.

Thanks for the vid.

I'm not questioning the integrity of Dennis. I think what you said is what dennis was arguing.. "Ok.. its a foul.. My bad.. I wont do it again". But as I recall the match was close.. Within a couple games..

If it were a couple guys just playing..... Yeah. Ok.. Don't do it again.. But in a tournament with $$$ on the line..? No.. Not cool. It's a foul..

I heard no conversation.. But body language says a lot..

Ps. Long time lurker. First time thread starter😃

That's the first I heard of Dennis doing something like that. I'm talking about being
disrespectful toward another player.
It's too bad Dennis acting like that toward any other professional player.

If this berating incident is true, I have lost a little bit of respect for Dennis.

you kidding?

dennis has a long line of bad attitude/sportsmanship issues

I could be wrong, but I feel the hunger is gone from D.O.'s game. That killer mode seems to be missing. Johnnyt
