So I am watching the Amway Cup and it's Chen vs. Ga Young Kim. Kim is up 4:2. Chen breaks and elects to play safe.
She grazes the two sending it up behind the 8 and the cueball caroms the five into the rail.
The referee calls foul for no rail. They SHOW THE SHOT on the BIG SCREEN in the arena in slow motion and it's CLEARLY not a foul and the ref gives Ga Young ball in hand anyway.
On what planet is this right and fair?
Now Chen is clearly upset by this.
My take on it is that if the ability exists to review the shot then all tournaments should use that ability. Especially in the big TV matches.
I think Ga Young is rattled by it as well since she didn't run out that game with ball in hand (she still won it when Chen dogged a ball) and GYK just dogged the one after he own break.
Another time I was sitting three feet from the shot and the referee was standing ten feet away from the table on the wrong end - so he was a good TWENTY FEET away from the object ball and the player was trying to graze it and he did and the ref called a bad hit. That cost the player that game and the match and he was out of the event - after traveling hundreds of miles to get there.
So what's your opinion on bad calls? Especially the ones which can be reviewed on video?
