I dunno if its my moniter but that 3rd shaft seems to be majorly warped....... Gorgeous cue regardless!!

Hello Cajun,

als photographic lenses have some distortion. Lenses with zoom-function have a much higher, often noticeable distortion. You just can't help this.

Another effect: Shooting with wide angle-lenses at close range will often look like distorted, just because the part in the middle is much closer than the peripheral part of the picture. That's why you commonly don't shoot people with wide angle: They will show a huge nose, a fairly large forehead and a small torso ;-)

For such a picture to show straigt lines, you will need to shoot from a longer distance, and use the angle of the lens which gives the least distortion.

Regards,

Detlev

this is just awesome...

3 shafts... one original bushka, one tascarella and one ( with very special thanks ) from Barry...

Hey Kam,
Enjoy it..
It's a beautiful cue
Best,
Ken

What I love about your Bababushka is the fact that it truly displays George's selectivity of the straight grain maple forearm over the birdseye forearm for functionaility over appearance. Most of the Balabushka copies I have seen out there (both announced as copies and/or fraudulently advertised as true Balabushkas) are not made with straight grain maple. Very few, if any G. Szams were straight grain maple. Those blanks went to George. I love your cue. I would love to have listened in on one of their conversations. Priceless!

Well...

You almost cannot credit George for the forearm; considering it was a spain blank. From my little knowledge George didnt make much in terms of forearms, he used Spain and Palmer, etc.

oh, and it is a burton spain blank....

That is exactly what I wanted ask! I could see those veneers and that amazing forearm wood... It is so pleasing to see Burton's work here and there sometimes.

Thank you for sharing!!!

Would fondling myself be out of line here? Dude, if I ever make it over to HK you gotta give me a box of tissues and send me into the vault.

i've got some extra soft ones that i'll save just for you :)

will put this up for sale once i get back from Los Angeles ..

just a heads up in case anyone is interested ...

( with the two shafts i got with the cue : george / pete - the Szam shaft stays with me )

price point would be in the region of $11,500.-

I have to agree Kam, thats about the nicest well preserved one I've seen thus far. Thats a keeper.
And also to have a shaft from Gus's stock is most generous on Barry's part.
Two of the best makers in the world and you have a piece from both.

Wow, the only thing I can trade is a 1976 Harley, Electra Glide, redone to show room condition with under 30K original miles. Come pick it up and bring the George B with you. I know I'm just dreamin here.

The master knew that straight grained maple was the key and way to go for the King Kong hit.

Very cool cue my friend!

Rick
