Ball Compression Contact Patch Marks Showing How Much Balls Compress and Flatten During Impact

its not powder.
Since the cue ball hit created the mark, it's gotta be one of two things. The obj. ball got scraped, or the cue ball hit transferred the white dots. To me the obj. balls seem OLD, this I've seen occur on old ball sets.

Definitely not. Most of those balls did not enter a pocket during my entire filming session, and they all had the spots.
I think you need to work on your break.

so then hes breaking tons of times swapping out the head ball?
I have been noticing these marks on my Aramith balls since they were new and on my Centennial balls as well. I also saw the last thread on this topic which caused me to pay a bit more attention to them. I am pretty OCD so I just notice things. I can go weeks without racking and breaking so I am pretty sure it happen to all the balls even without hitting them particularly hard. My 2 cents.

During the filming, I was racking the balls in the same consistent numerical order. That's why many of the balls never went in pockets. Some ball positions in a 9-ball rack tend to head to pockets, but many don't.

scraped? wtf are you talking about? these are collision marks. it doesn't matter what ball it is. fire any ball into any other ball with enough speed and you get these marks.

The cue ball only hit the 1 ball. The shots were only break shots from a full rack. All the balls seem to have the marks.

I had a set of 30 year old Aramith Crown Standards show the same issue as @dr_dave.

My circumstances was on brand new Simonis 860HR and the were balls treated with both Aramith restorer and polish hand applied. Not sure if this was the cause of the spots but that was my experience.

Never had this issue since on any other set of balls, and for what it’s worth have only used BallStar polishing machine with the BallStar polish. Have not used the Aramith polish, and the cloth is now over 3 years old and broken in.

They don't just "seem to." All 9 balls have the marks. Only the 1 was hit by the CB, and only a few of the numbered balls ever went in pockets.

It is balls touching.

Next time they are clean, hold them in your hands and strike them together...you'll see the marks are reproduced.

Your cleaner has the gunk, punk. Anybody ever call you that before?!?!

Yesterday, I filmed a bunch of power breaks for a video I'm working on. Check out all the contact patches on the balls due to ball compression during impact:

It is hard to believe the balls compress and flatten enough to make such large marks, but the spots don't lie. Have you guys seen this before and know if it occurs more with certain brands/models or dirty/clean/polished balls? These Aramith balls were cleaned with Aramith Ball Cleaner about a month ago and have had only moderate use.

FYI, here's the video for which resulted in all the marks:
