Do you guys prefer to ignore this rule when playing? I played both ways for years and without ball in hand (and some other less significant rules) I find the matches much more interesting...
If this is in regard to money-ball based games like 8,9, and 10 Ball, then what is the penalty for a foul, if not BIH?
Sorry, I'm not buying it...me thinks Poolkillers has resurfaced.
Playing 8 ball without BIH is ridiculous,do you realize your opponent can directly hit any of your group and tie them all up together? Its completely absurd in any kind of competitive situation.
What if your playing someone and they just roll the cueball behind one of their balls everytime they want too?
The "other" way, behind-the-line, can many times penalize the incoming shooter that should be REWARDED for an opponents foul.
No those are the rules to "ignore" one is IMHO a little silly. When I am playing kitchen games great but when playing a BIH game it is best played with BIH.Do you guys prefer to ignore this rule when playing?...
Define "more interesting" please.I played both ways for years and without ball in hand (and some other less significant rules) I find the matches much more interesting...
Who is "we" and what's the penalty?Don't worry we have a different kind of penalty in case of a direct shot at the opponent's balls,
Sounds like you're talking as if "bar rules" are not absurd; I will tell you right off THEY ARE ABSURD!!!but it doesn't include grabbing any ball with your hand... Of course, they CAN hit your balls indirectly but it adds a lot more fun to the game and makes it more challenging, but it never created any absurd situation so far.
You were probably not playing a good pool player; Yea, you are really suggesting that "public" or "bar" rules are not absurd. What if your playing someone and they just roll the cueball behind one of their balls everytime they want too?
Many players attempted to do that when they played me. But after I countered with well-placed shots several times, they usually started to rethink their strategy![]()
Who is "we" and what is the penalty for "excessive direct pocketing of the cueball"?We don't play behind the line either. That would be even more ridiculous. In case of direct shots at opponent's balls everything is left where it is, but the player who did it loses his/her turn. If someone pockets the cueball, we return it to the head spot and, again, the opponent gets the turn. We also penalize excessive direct pocketing of the cueball.

Maniac
It really does not mater what I think about it. The rule is BIH in any tournament scenario. In a bar, no money on the line, it also does not mater what I think, or even if I can think.

After reading this post, it's the same joker. I think Mr. Wilson has to ban his city from creating new accounts.
