A guy swaps his own ball for the new pool rooms cue ball.
Or just exchanges his own old balls for the new ones in the poolroom.
Do you say anything to him?
Do you say anything to anyone?

I call the guy on it. Last night I got a set of balls that look like they went through WWII. So bad I took them back to the counter and asked for another set. It sure would tick me off if they were some jerks balls that he swapped out.

I would call him on it to his face and then I would turn him in. Pool halls are having a hard enough time making it without stuff like this going on.

of course...... and I'd definitely say something loud enough so the entire place knew what was going on.... hopefully the humiliation alone would prevent anyone else from doing the same.

Yes i'd say something, considering in most states that is considered Theft, and depending on the cost of the balls, possibly a felony at that

Judge Wopner, Judge Alex and Judge Judy rule unanimously for the pool room. Sentenced to 3 years of hard labor - cleaning tables, balls and the hoppers.

Theft yes, and I hate sh*tty balls. Low rent MFer needs a swift one in his own set.

Please Clarify

You offer 2 scenerios
Is this just hypotheical situation or did it happen twice?
Are you sure the new balls belonged to the pool room?
Is there a chance he brought them in to play with and was merely swapping back?

AS A ROOM OWNER I SAY THIS A SAD AFFAIR, AS I TELL MY PLAYERS QUITE OFTEN, THIS IS YOUR ROOM I JUST RUN IT FOR YOU, AND IF THE EQUIPMENT OF ROOM IS ABUSED IT IS UP TO YOU TO REPORT IT. AND I HAVE HAD GOOD RESULTS AS I HAVE A GOOD BUNCH OF PLAYERS!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Shoot the sorry piece of crap!!! That is very disturbing to think people feel like they deserve other people's property :angry::angry::angry:

I can understand if you swap in your own cue ball like a red dot or blue for play and don't use the house cue ball that is left in the tray, but to keep and walk off with... That's totally messed up. Straight stealing from the pool hall!

Some "A" holes will just steal a ball from the tables in the bar. The next guy to play gets shorted a ball and the table is dead unless there is a spare set.

Some people just get there jollies by stealing stuff and think that it is ok.

Oh, Mrs. G- you know by now I can never keep my mouth shut, even when it lands me in hot water:) I would had raised a big stink right there for everyone to hear, LOL. It is an act of stealing, regardless. They are everywhere...

If I owned a pool hall I'd be suspicious of someone coming in with their own set of balls. I'm suprised the owner/manager didn't say something when he saw what the guy was bringing into the the room.

I wouldn't jump on him (he may have some personal quirk for switching) but I'd definitely stroll over and ask why he did it. Maybe say something like "the owner says it's ok but we have to hold your driver's license while you play"

I would tell the owner for sure!!!!! Somebody trying to upgrade their balls by a switcheroo is dirty very very dirty. Nothing worse than a thief!!!

I think its wrong to steal, if I did witness it I would bring it to the staff's attention and let them handle it.

I've been trying to get serious, so nowadays I usually bring my own aramith measle or rempe training ball. For pool halls that normally don't have a supply of Brunswick Centennials (aka heavy balls) or keep their balls clean, I invested in my own set. When I want to use my own ball set, I ask the manager/staff upfront whether its ok or not.

With permission from house staff, I also use 'donuts' to mark drill positions and sometimes set up my pocket camera to record my training sessions. So far I've been positively received and given encouraging compliments. Only thing missing is the boombox playing Eye of the Tiger and a big bottle of gatorade. Suspicious or not, I do stick out like thumb :-)

Of course you tell....

Id have to say I would rather play with my chipped up set of centennial balls then some of the balls in some places, but to think you can just pull the old switcharooo is not right. But the chalk, now that is free game...:D
