Ballstar machines

Does anyone have any comments pro or con about the Ballstar ball polishing machine?

Bought mine from PoolDawg earlier this year and it is great, even though it looks like an oversized crockpot! It really cleans and shines the balls like brand new. It only takes about 2-3 minutes and can do 8 at a time.

It's a splurge at over $400, but I could never clean and polish them like new without it.

Best ball cleaner on the market. Had mine for 6 years and still looks and works like brand new. I use it at least once a day.

I tried the homemade polishers and did not like the results. I got lucky; a friend found a good used Ball Star at a reasonable price. It works fantastic, polishes the balls like new. I use mine everyday in the poolroom. Great machine.

I have been using one for commercial use in my pool room for 5 years, and the dam thing is still running strong. I think it is a great machine, but I do recommend using their Cleaning Polishing fluid, I don't know what it is made out of but the stuff is great.

Do they have several models? I've seen pictures of at least two that look different:

This one:

And this one for sale on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ballstar-Pro-Cl...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5883daf967

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two?

Thanks.

They use to have two model, the one you have pictured and another that had a replaceable fluid container for the cleaning solution. I do not recommend the model with the fluid container they break pretty easy and the fluid containers are not easy to find anymore.

Hope this helps

I'm sure they work great, but at 450 bucks, I think I'll stick to my regimen of wet and dry rags.

If I owned a business or had several tables, I might change my mind though.

Great timing. I've just recently gotten to the bottom of concerns over mine. There are 2 basic models. The old one that looks like a crookpot and the new one that looks like a blender. I believe they also have a model that takes a dispenser for the fluid (Pro Model), but mine does not. I have a Ballstar Optima BCM 201A. It works great!! One word of caution. The 2 models take different size cleaning pads and nozzles, which is not apparent when you try to order them. The older one takes a larger pad and a slightly different nozzle than the newer one. I've been working with Mark at www.billiards.com. They now carry both sizes of pads and will be getting the replacement nozzles for the new model in about a week. Hope this helps.

I have been using a Diamond Ball cleaner and it does work much better than the Ballstar. I also use a cleaning wax instead of liquid so that might be the reason.

Do you have the home edition, and where did you buy it? Also, does it just use carpet or is there polishing pads on the bottom?

Thanks?
