Bangers can be creative...:)

We've seen the threads before about the crazy antics bangers pull, but what I saw last night was a first for me.

Two bangers are playing 8-ball.
One of them gets ready to break...but instead of just shooting the CB into the rack to start the game, he gently nudges the CB so it starts rolling past the foul line, THEN he smashes it into the rack.

At first I thought, "Gee, he fouled the CB by hitting it twice and neither of them knew better so they let it slide."

Then he did it for the next two games!

I guess he felt giving the CB a "running start" would help with his break. I almost choked on my chicken tenders and fries...LOL

That only works if you place the 8 ball on top of the rack and then let drop in as you push the rack forward. Of course you must also spin the rack 3 times when removing it from the table.

It's a combined speed thing

Golly gee, I thought everybody knew about this!

It is a combined speed thing. Say you can only break 20MPH with a normal break. Give the ball a 5MPH nudge and then hit it 20MPH and you can smash the rack pretty good. The top guys can hit the cue ball 10MPH and then catch it with a 25MPH second hit for a screaming 35MPH break!!

It happens so fast when the pro's do it that you can't even catch it on replay but this is the newest hot tip in pool. Everybody will be doing it by the DCC.

There is another way of achieving similar results. You must place the CB as close to the head string as possible and stand back at least 20 feet, and make a mad dash towards the table. At my age I can scoot about 14 miles per hour add that to a break speed of just over 19 miles an hour and you have cue ball velocity of 33+ mph. Miscues and whitey leaving the table are common at first..... just don't give up.

PS, when I try this it is called the Flying Jimbo, I hope to have a Youtube vid of this someday on my website.

OUTSTANDING: As soon as my hip heals I'm trying the Flying Jimbo. Do you put pads on the table?....:-)

Sound like Friday night I figured I'd go out and shoot some pool and a few friends were there and we started shooting around and then one of my other good friends came out and me and him started playing on another table and all of a sudden and young guy and his girlfriend come over and slam and bunch of quarter on the table ( Bar Box ) and says 8-ball doubles NOW !!!.

We were in the middle of a game and we both stop and looked at each other like What the F**k , we kindly said after are game and this guy had the nerve to say hurry up . So we finished and said ok lets play so we racked him and played well I knew from the start he was a banger and I also figured his G/F couldn't shoot at all . The funny thing is , was that we could have called a foul on them almost ever other shot because they keep double hitting the cue ball .

So threw out the game they were banging shit around and I clear all 6 balls we had left and also had a kick shoot that went in that was almost imposible and tried to bank the 8-ball for the win and it rattled and of course they won and it didn't stop there his kid ran his mouth sayin ha ha you guys are f'n loser and you can't play , I looked at my friend and said what ever .

So this other couple waiting to play looked at us and just shook there heads , so they pulled the same thing on them and finally one of my good friends came over and gave them a mouth full and finally they got kick out of the place for being rude and loud . Sorry for the long post .

I would use table pads for a hip injury but my problem is a bad ankle, and I must say it aint pretty watching a 50 year old man limp towards a table at 14 miles per hour.

The girlfriend must have been hot to let him get away with that. He must have a death wish.

Someone should at least tell him he's actually reducing his break speed! If you normally break at 20mph, then try giving the cueball a 5mph head start, you'll end up with an 18mph CB, roughly...all else equal.

She wasn't bad looking but not a hottie , Oh he must have had a Death Wish because His mouth Wouldn't stop even when you were down for a shot , cocky bastard .

No no no. You got it all wrong. He was just maximizing his breaking accuracy without compromising power.

See, everyone knows there is a trade-off between accuracy and power, assuming it's done with one only stroke. So it makes sense to split up the break shot into two completely separate parts. First the accuracy phase, and then the power phase.

By initially lagging the CB, you're giving up power but you're maximizing accuracy. Once the CB starts rolling, the direction is absolutely "locked in" and stays on that path no matter what. So all you have to do next is simply supply the power, which is the second phase.

Unfortunately this is a double-hit, and thus illegal. But hopefully the rules are changed such that double-hits are allowed only on the break shot so that we can all achieve monster breaks. I already petitioned Bob Jewett to change the general rules. I suggest you send him a PM as well.

Don't try it randyg, I gave it a go. I opened the door to my hallway to get a running start and tripped just before I got to the table and conked my head on the rail. I writing this with a giant headache.

Oh damn, the secret is out. This is going to replace the soft break at next year's world championships.
