Bank Instructions.Dvd or Book??

Hey Ktown,Well you do know that (he's) always at least a day late.So I have plenty of time to get ready for "him".I pack clothes for a little while, then go hit balls for a little while then get back on the puter for awhile, then go hit a few more balls....

I have no clue what your talking about??? Bank at the other place??
Can you give me a better hint?? You better be getting ready too.We got be rested up for all those fun nights we are going to have. John B.

at 1p.org they have set up a banking forum. A showcase for your talents if you will.....

i'm pretty good at banks, and i have been reluctant to watch dvd's or read any instructional stuff, fearing that my head will get in the way of my feel for the cuts, speed and english. any thoughts on that?
"Feel" is critical for banking success; however, IMO, "feel" can be developed faster and with more confidence if the player has a complete understanding of all of the banking effects. It also helps to have bank aiming systems for different types of shots, especially when your "feel"-based aim doesn't look quite right or when your confidence is low. On VEPS-IV: Banks, Kicks, and Advanced Shots, we present many of the most common and useful systems and demonstrate the pertinent effects that require adjustment.
I think people are interested in Mr. Brumback's view on banking - not Dr. Dave's :) You posting banking concepts within a thread regarding John's future DVD on banking concepts is like me telling Ron Jeremy how to bang.
Spidey,

I'm sorry you feel that way. I was responding to what I thought was an open question to the forum. I obviously don't claim to be a good banker like John; however, I do know a fair amount (more than most people) about banking systems and the effects that require aim compensation. The links provide resources on these topics if people are interested.

Also, even John might learn something about how Tom and I organized and presented the various topics. When working on a book or DVD project, it can be helpful to see how others present things.

Respectfully,
Dave

I think you mis-spoke a little because you're posting links to your banking DVD in a thread about someone wanting to create a banking DVD. It came across like someone saying, "NO NO NO BUY MINE BUY MINE!!!"

I'm sure you didn't mean that - but that's exactly how it read :) No worries.

Dave

You're right ... I didn't mean it that way, but I can now see how it could have been perceived like that.

Ditto on the "no worries."

Dave

I agree, people are interested in Brumback's views. I am as well, that's for sure. Yet as an honest note, I personally think banking is like writing music (or take any example). If Beethoven explained to somebody how to write "good" music, it may help, but in reality it is just something that he knew how to do-- there just aint no explaining it. If I had to guess, i bet John made banks early on in his playing career with a frequency that even "better" more experienced players could not duplicate. Maybe i'm wrong?

I look forward to seeing (and "stealing from") your final product also.

Good luck with your project,

Hello,Thanks for the compliments. You have made a pretty good example, but It can be "explained" but I think It might be one of the hardest pool games to learn. Your right again,In that my son, who was only 5 or 6 at the time could see the bank angle without me showing him how! He could just see It somehow. I think he banks better than he can shoot straight Ins, now,lol Thanks again,John B.

my son starting playing at about 7 or 8 y/o, and i always encouraged him to shoot a bank and he undoubtedly developed "the feel" for them. we shot together for a couple of years in the apa (besides at home) and he always made me proud when he banked out of a safety. rip mark.

Talk to Fleming at Derby.

He may cover banks like he has done straight pool and I can't think of anyone better to do the PPV segments than a back to back DCC champion.

Would give Accustats a PPV product and at the end of the segments you would have a DVD with a little editing that could go right into the catalogs and into the market. Might be win/win since you won't have to put up front money and hire a decent production crew.

I'll suggest this idea to Billy Gibbs to stick in Pat's ear since I won't be up to DCC until the 9ball with the way things are going. Look him up when you are near the TV table...

Here's hoping you get your 3peat =)

Bill,I have been very worried about you! Having not heard from you in so long. Yes we will chat. And you don't have to buy my dinner every year.
John B.

I just noticed that you won that bank pool ring game....maybe this is the year for you to buy MY dinner!:grin-square::grin-square:

Great idea, Rufus. I really like the DVD/pdf file idea. Go for the DVD, John. I will buy it in a heartbeat!

The Three Videos

You already have some excellent suggestions.

I didn't read them all but I have one thing that I would like to see in a video and that is some CAD drawing type pictures. Each shot has MANY different visual perceptions because we all see things differently and a CAD type drawing of the shot in addition to the video and narration would be great. In essence, some computer aided drawings, with overlays of lines like what you see with the red laser lines.

A detailed oral accounting of what you see and when you see it and what is going on in your mind would be great for John Brumback video. All of these is easier said than done.

It would be nice if you are able to describe how you "feel/perceive" these shots.

The Brumback "SECRETS" of Bank Pool.
The Brumback "SECRETS" of One Pocket.
The Brumback "SECRETS" of Ten Ball.

Whatever you produce, will sell like ice water in the desert. :yeah:
