Bank Ring Game

My pick so far for MC are
SVB, Sky, Thorpe, Hunter, Bergman, and Pro 1's son...I can't think of his name at the minute. Johnnyt

PS:MC short races can be a lot of upsets.

Landon.

That teams never going to happen

SVB, Archer, will be definite 2. I'd almost bet. And I'd bet a lot Hatch isn't on there.

2, maybe 3 veterans will make the initial US 8 IMO. I believe 2 vets and 3 younguns will make the cut and go to Tower Circus for the circus. SVB is a lock, not sure what other vet might get a shot, but I'll eat my hat if it's one from last years team.

I wish Corey had a better showing at DCC in front of Mark Wilson. Given a cattle prod, he might find Cup motivation to compete for the 8 down to 5.

That was honestly amazing to watch. The commentators were predicting one thing and Skylar was shooting another, almost every time, and still making it. He was shooting from his nether regions constantly and still making them. Was a great thing to watch and the best 6 bucks I ever spent! Thank you accu-stats!

Easily the highest level bank ring game I've seen at the DCC. I think anyone who watched it would agree. Especially live and especially if you've seen other DCC bank ring games.

Yeah, it's a surprise over his 5 accomplished opponents. At least to me.

I've only barely heard of Billy Thorpe as compared to Skyler, who's getting a lot of good mention lately.

EDIT:
I'm done here. I will not say nomas
:)

... This young kid (20 yrs old?) shot the paint off of the balls and put on maybe the best bank performance that I have ever seen. ...

It certainly was a remarkable performance. And Freddy, with all of your experience in playing against and watching great bankers, I think what you said above gives me an even greater appreciation for what I saw earlier tonight. It was really neat hearing your (and Scott's) expressions of amazement from the booth.

Skylar

He's from my area so I've known him for a long time. He still plays pool league so he does have one thing over the last MC team. He knows how to play as part of a team. He asked me last week to be on his team but i'm done with leagues. Anyway 2 years ago i was spotting him at one pocket and now i won't even play him getting 10-5. I played some short rack with him before he left for derby to warm him up and i asked him how he got so good at banking so fast. A few years ago he couldn't bank world class either. I also asked him if someone showed him something or if he learned a system. His answers were all pretty funny, not so surprising knowing him and would tend to dispute the natural ability non believers. I did give him a bit of banking advice before he left...I wish i would have watched it so i could see if he used it.... lol

That was the most extraordinary exhibition of banking I've ever seen. It looked like a fake reality show it was so unbelievable. Aliens, they had to be aliens.

Crabcatjohn, if I remember what he told me, he combines systems Touch of Outside with Sporty Aim and a lil Road Player-1.

Wow. I can't wait to see this match once it's available. Congrats Sky.

And I need to agree with an above post. I watched Billy Thorpe play in the action room this week and was absolutely blown away. That kid is amazing.

My buddy Clint plays in a league in Murray. He said Skylar played in that league. Pretty cool.

And Skylar is from Kentucky. Why are you guys so surprised he won a bank event???

For sure. Must be something in that Kentucky water that produces those bank champions.

You sound like Mike Hellmer, owner of Match Up's in Ft Collins CO, he purchased this room from Gary Benson. He used to tell me about this kid, Timi Bloombergs son from the Dakotas and how well he played. Found out soon after it was SVB. Looks like you've got another Bear in the woods, and its Not from Knoxville.

Crabbcat is right.

I moved to Paducah and Skylar was 14-15. I played him even 9 ball, his favorite game. We broke even, for a period of time, he just continued to play better.

At that time I always tried to trap him playing one pocket, because he didn't play it, but wanted to gamble.

I never seen him play banks, he just loved 9 ball.

The shame is there are some world class bankers in Paducah and I never seen any of them helping him. His dad was a SL7 in APA and a pretty good player, and they played quite a bit when they were younger. I did see his dad at DCC but didn't get a chance to talk to him.

He is a great kid, and everyone that is on this thread singing his praises kinda piss me off. Remember BEFORE the Mosconi Cup I said that this young man would represent the US well. But no, we sent a group of misbehaving boys that embarrassed us all.

So go ahead and jump on the bandwagon, I was on it about a year ago.

Look for this guy to do well for a long time.

Ken

congrats skylar must be something in the water from that area know another player from across town that plays great think they call him the rifleman:smile:

I'll chip in to get you a new keyboard, I know your caps lock is broken.

Freddy said the same thing about Bryan Greg, and so did Bugs.
I remember seeing a bank ring game before at DCC where the Greg guy unleashed what 11 banks in a row or 10, 12, something crazy.

Brian was on brink of elimination and ran 7. I know this for sure as I bet on him in it. It was 7, including one twisting three rail one pocket shot that was super nasty. Still, if Skyler and Busty were putting up consistent 5s,6s they had to have played better.

I almost turned it off as there was a n 'Encore Performance' notation on the stream at first. I said to myself "I didnt hear nothing about this so it must have sucked" Ahahahahaha- Glad i stayed with it.

New SW banking system coming to DVD in March!

Hey B. About 1-1/2 years ago he caught that extra gear that seems to be in all the great ones. I hadn't played him in a few months and i knew after a few weeks i couldn't win any more with any spot. He told me a few years back he happened on SVB in Vegas and played him some bank on a bar box and beat him. I guess that sparked his interest.
Ken is right, Skylar is probably the 3 or 4th best banker in our area and the other 3 won't help him one bit. They are all old school lamb killers. There has been some talk about a bank match between him and Buddy coming up. Buddy is feeling good and can still bank with the best of them folks.
I asked him how he got so good so fast and if he had any lessons. He told me all of a sudden he can just see um. I've heard that before from another great banker. And he said he learned by watching tapes of his matches and listening to the announcers say which shots were right and wrong....lol So the there you go. The Skylar Woodward i can just see um system.
Coming to DVD in March!

Was the Bank ring game played on a 9' table?
I hope so..

THANK YOU PoolBum vvvvv
