Banned users

It has been requested that I make a note for all to see when a user is banned so that there is no confusion.

After many warnings from myself as well as numerous other users, Drivermaker has been banned. This ban is a permanent ban and I do not foresee this ban being lifted for any reason. I realize that Drivermaker had many supporters here on the forums and I have already started hearing from them. It is those supporters that had a lot to do with him lasting as long as he did. I am also hearing from users who can't believe it took this long for him to go.

Hal and Shorty have also received temporary one week bans. Those bans are still in the air and may be shortened. They are the direct result of their badgering each other and posting snide remarks regarding each other's items for sale in various threads. Hal was banned first because of a lack of response to my PM to him calling for a truce and Shorty was banned this evening when it was brought to my attention that he continued badgering Hal after agreeing to a truce.

I hope this is enough explanation for everyone. We have three major events going on in pool right now (Glass City, WPBA, World 8-Ball) and way too many people are spending way too much time talking about these bans instead of the action going on this weekend.

Hey Mike,
You Guys do a great job. I'm sure it is a massive
undertaking to provide the info you do.
I do have a couple questions re: WPBA, hope you don't mind.
#1: AZB has the best format for posting the WPBA Points,
showing the last 10 event scores. On the down side it
has not been updated for the last two events.
I am a sponser of Tracie Hines & just want to know
where she needs to finish to increase her points status.
#2: WPBA has the best format for Tourn Brackets, BCA
style brackets, all on the same page, if you are
following a player its easy to trace them from the
winners side to the 1-loss side.
Is there anyway AZ could use Tourn Brackets similar
to WPBA? Its a pain in the a__, trying to track a player
on a 10 screen bracket with no I.D.
If I can give a helping hand, I will.

Lamar, updating the brackets to a new system is on the list. But it is below updating the player payouts and getting some more items up for the auction. (Now that I finally got all the won items out)

And Luke in Va just joined the list too. This is a permanent ban and will not be lifted.

He was banned because of a post he made that I have removed.

i think your doing a great job and the poeple you banned wont be missed by a lot of us.good ridance.thank you for cleaning up the forum.

Mike,
What do you think a one week ban or less will really do? How many times a day are these people posting that it will really have any effect? Kind of like giving a pitcher in baseball a 5 day suspension when it really only costs them one start. Too bad that the forum can't be controlled in a way that you could limit them to one post per day.
I didn't read most of these threads the past few days so I missed most of the flame wars. I read what was pasted on what DM said as the last straw & I don't see it any worse than what others are saying. I won't name names but I see harsher comments by current users just in describing the action of the flame war. The cursing on this site is endless & useless and in my mind that is what should be stopped immediately. Yes, this is the internet but their are plenty of teenagers that of course know the words but shouldn't have to be taught bad habits by reading it over and over.
People can agree to disagree...except on the internet. Then it seems that when they are out of anything intelligent to say they turn it into a personal attack. I have had my share, been called minor names such as crackpot or I must be on crack, & just brush it off. I have tried to apologize, right or wrong, if things got out of hand or misinterpreted but some people would rather argue & have an enemy then make a new friend/acquaintance. The written word, especially on the internet, seems to have a way of turning bad very quickly. People don't know how to type with punctuation to clarify what they are saying. All they know how to type is curse words and, in my opinion, stupid internet jargon.
Anyways, thanks to Mike for having this forum. No, I don't agree with all his bans (this includes both the ones that have been banned previously & now and also the ones that are excluded from being banned) but this has been stated time & time again.....this is Mike's site & he has control to do with it as he sees fit. If he has Kevin Trudeau/IPT as one of his sponsors & the IPT is truthful in their financial investment in pool then Mike is surely smarter than all of us.
Mike, find me at the DCC & I will buy you a beer. I'll buy the person that called me a crackpot a beer and also her boyfriend. I'll buy onepocketchump a beer. I'll buy anyone that introduces themself to me a beer. The only place better then the internet to have a civil discussion (or argument if that is what you must call it) is over a beer.

If you are true to your word, you are going to get heisted on your beer tab next tournament. I'll bet that right now someone that saw your offer is working on different masks to wear so he can introduce himself to you 6 or 7 times. If you're drunk you won't even notice.

If I introduce myself and my girlfriend and then we call you a crackpot, may we have 4 beers? :p

MIke!
Thanks for taking the time to offer your rationale for the suspensions and bannings. As alluded to earlier in this thread, there are lots of demands on your time and I know that all of us appreciate your website.
It is somewhat unfortunate that so many are engaged ofver negativity, but, IMO, there are many more of us who enjoy the FREE service that you provide, unfortunately, the good is rarely acknowledged. What do they say? The squeaky wheel gets the grease? Grease&Go!

I'd like to apologize once again for my vulgar language in several of my posts yesterday. I went after a few guys yesterday who I thought were out of line but I now realize that they too have their own opinions and can like or dislike anyone they wish. But I will say this, on, or off this forum, I'm the same way. If one of my friends out in the real world is in a bind, I'm there to defend him. I will not stand for anyone to bad mouth one of my friends, EVER. I won't sit back and let one of my friends be crucified w/o a way to defend himself, whether it's with words, or with fists. I'm far from being a violent person, but I am not afraid to take a beating for what I feel is right. I have met a few people on this forum who I consider friends, even though I may have met them only 1 time, or not at all. And I would do the same for them if need be. I'm not afraid of being banned by Mike because if that time comes, then I deserve it and I wouldn't feel like he wanted to do it, but more like he had to do it because he has something here to protect. That's fine by me. So, in closing, I'll make this promise to everyone in the forum. In the future, if I ever use foul language again in a post, you can call me on it, pm, or in a reply in the thread. If I do it again, Mike, hit the button. I'm not thick-headed, I know right from wrong, but if I do use that language again, you can bet the farm that I know it's time to go. Only a ban will stop me from coming to this forum though because this place is like a drug to me, I gotta have it, just like many others in here do. So, forgive me for doing what I thought was right but choosing to do it the wrong way. Peace to everyone, John.

Tough job, but somebody's got to do it.
Thank You for doing it!!

How about an automatic ban once someone
exceeds a fixed limit of off-topic posts?

Thoughts ...

1) I think Mike is reasonable in his views and applications.
2) I know when the 'flaming wars' or the 'ganging up' starts on
a person, or the character assasinations, simply because someone
disagrees with someone else, that my desire to get
on AZB decreases rapidly. No one is the Sheriff, but Mike.
3) I have seen other posters being 'called' on their prices for
articles for sell. (one recently was the Cinnamon Fury B/j cue).
BUT, coming right out with it is like ruining a player's action with
another player because an outsider comes up and tells the lessor
player that the game (spot) is not fair.
4) Degrading a poster with profanity filled language repeatedly over
and over is UNCALLED FOR.
5) Trying to say a person is a really bad person because you disagree
with them is not right, especially if you have not met them in person.
6) If you really don't care for someone else on here and have a history,
then it is best to just leave them alone, and go about your business,
and not antagonize the situation to a higher level.

I understand we all have emotions, and sometimes we do get caught
up in them, myself included, but please stop and think before you post,
whether you are contributing to AZB or taking away from it. We all
really like it here, and love our sport.

I think the whole forum appreciates & would accept your apology. You can only respect someone that sticks up for his friends. That being said, a friend is not someone that constantly puts you in the position to have you come defend them. Too often I see people manipulate a situation because they know 'someone has got their back.' Also remember this, something I was told when I was 10 years old----The guy that tells you he is gonna kick ur ass, don't worry about him but the guy that doesn't ask your permission first, that is the one to worry about.

A good friend will bail you out of jail. A true friend will be sittin beside you sayin "Damn! Are we crazy or what."

Would you buy a guy a beer who didn't buy a pool table from you?

That just might very well be the best idea I have ever heard!
