This would be a lie in my book, how can you say you don't have the slightest clue what someone is talking about, You said the cue was nice, you asked on here about it, then said you didn't like the cue, confirmed by the messages.

What the heck is there not to have a clue about?

When I first read that, it personally seemed like Justin was saying DJV was lying, cause why else would he not know what DJV is talking about.

Even if I did consciously tell a lie, did my lie harm anyone? Did I rip anyone off? You guys are making a really big deal out of something that is harmless.

To be honest though, I never meant to lie (in either case). People change their minds all of the time. One minute they like something, and the next minute they do not. Why make such a big deal out of a few harmless comments?

That lying crap goes on all.the time in buying or selling any thing. So you wanna single out Justin huh ?

I have a story for you.. How about a highly respected " on here any ways " cue dealer out right lying about a cue having no ivory in it in order to justify his low.ball offer on it. ?

Like I said...lying is the norm on a lot of cue deals. Cue makers also and yet the are always given a pass..

Yeah, these guys are attacking me as if I ripped someone off, or did something horrible to another person. Unbelievable.

People can be such hypocrites.

I agree that no lie is great, but a lie about how much you like a cue is about equal to telling your wife she doesn't look fat in those jeans when she really does. For that matter, just about everybody downplays their interest level in an item they are looking to buy at least some of the time because we don't want the person to know how much we really want it and love it thereby making them less likely to negotiate. That is lying too since you seem to be wanting to be so technical about it, yet we have all done it, many times, including you.

Personally I am more worried about the guy that says a cue is dead perfect straight when it is not than I am about a guy telling me he doesn't like my cue when he does. I get that people get irritated with Justin's posts but at this point people are just grasping for straws for anything they can attack him about. Save it for something that actually matters, not some white lie about how much he likes a cue.

What problem could my comments (or possible lies about the beauty of the cue) have possibly caused? I said that I liked the cue in public, and then I said that I did not like it in a PM on facebook. It was a PM (that should have been Private). Who have I harmed in that situation?

You may say that I waste peoples time with stupid questions that I ask, but nobody is forced to go into my threads, read, and then reply to my questions. I never harmed anyone on here, or ripped anyone off.

Sellers lie all of the time when trying to sell a cue. They will say almost anything about the item in order to get a sale.

That is something that I have never done.

The guy selling the Barry Moore cue was telling me that it was an 8 or 9 hundred dollar cue (if I remember correctly). How do I know that he was not lying about that? I can't believe anything a seller tells me. I have to do my own research.

And you guys attack me over something as harmless as what I may or may not have lied about, about a few comments that I made about the looks of a cue.

This is unbelievable.

Justin, you weren't attacked, you were merely called out on making yourself look like a victim when you weren't. I personally have no beef with you, was just annoying, and then when you made me out to look like a liar....well I don't take kindly to that. This whole thing took the Thread WAYYYYYYY of topic though so can we please bring it back down to reality?

I guess this would be the time to just ask outright, why was Ideologist banned/suspended? As Lyn stated he is a very upfront, fun guy to be around in person. Yeah he has opinions, and can be forward about them, but isn't that the point of public forums? I have never seen him use profanity in writing except when quoting someone, and he almost always will give someone a chance to explain themselves, if nothing else letting them dig their own holes. It was always an interesting pool room when it was Ideologist, the Cardiac Kid, ChrisBanks, and myself. Never a shortage of laughter, jokes, and some definite humiliation. All in all though, I just wonder why, and more importantly, how to avoid it moving forward.

I would like to know also. Ideologist is one of the members who has the knowledge of cues, both modern and vintage and is willing to share it. He also does a lot for the billiard scene in the area he lives in. We need more like Ideologist here.

How was I making myself look like the victim? I am confused again. I was just trying to explain myself, by saying that I did not know what the cue is worth, and I can't afford to just trust the word of any seller. I have to do my own research on items, to see what they command on the used market. I can't afford to just pay $300 for a cue (that I may not be happy with), and then be stuck with it, unless I give it away for next to nothing. For example I had this super nice 4 point cue (that was from an unknown maker), and this one was one that I actually really loved the looks of. It had 4 points, with veneers, into a super nice BEM forearm. It was a custom made cue from an American cue maker, and it was of very high quality. When I needed money, and had to sell, I had the thing up for sale on here for weeks, and was only able to get like $125 shipped out of it (IIRC). So, yeah, I need to know for a fact that I will be able to at least get my money back out of a cue before I buy it. There was no need for you to attack me like you did in public on here (over something so harmless). It was pretty shocking once someone finally explained to me what exactly I was being attacked about. Pretty unbelievable in my mind.

I actually got so tired of being attacked on here that I created a new user ID on here, lol. They must have realized that it was me though (maybe from looking at my IP address), and did not activate my ID, to allow me to reply or post new threads.
