You dont have to be a fan of the Bonus Ball idea but for christs sakes, dont knock it constantly when nothing else is being tried.
Perhaps, and just throwing out a random idea here, if their PR was a wee bit better, there may have been more fans.

IPT was not a scam, the guy's real business was though.
IPT failed because their main advertising was through online gambling which got snuffed out in the US. The only other way to pay out as much as they were in prizes was to just take money from something that was profitable and toss it at IPT. I just watched an IPT match I found in a box of pool DVDs and the production was pretty good, as good as the Mosconi Cup, although the waving camera thing was there too often.
It is unreal in that the people here are always moaning about how pool is dying and how do we fix it.
So Bonus Ball emerged, maybe not the best plan in the world as of yet, but they tried something and what happened here ? They *****ed and moaned and criticised to no end and the OP is glad its failing or failed ?
What does that say about all these people that do nothing but knock things but would never in a million years try something themselves even if they were able to.

Thanks to the fall of Bonus Ball BB means BAR BOX again. Johnnyt
And why shouldn't those who could see it wouldn't work from the start be dismissive of someone who poured assets down a hole when they could have been used more productively to actually benefit pool?
Different game, different balls, different table, different competition format, distributed in a manner that has been already been proven to not work? Really? The glee club screaming "traitor, traitor, traitor" was the icing on the cake.
I think its relatively safe to say that the majority of folks here did not want BB to fail.
That doesn't mean that we have to like how we, the AZB community, were told that our opinions didn't matter, and any of several other arrogant and/or condescending remarks hurled our way.
The short of it is this: if the PR had been handled better here, there would have been far less backlash at the inevitable failure. The PR was amazingly poor, and a great number of potential customers were undoubtedly turned off by the attitude that was presented here. (Of course, since we weren't "the target audience", it really didn't matter how we were treated, now did it?)
I feel bad for those who put so much time and effort into this. I really do. But I don't feel sorry for being right in my estimation of the projects potential for success.
Johnny,
Was no fan of BB or pro pool. However, I just don't understand the glee with which so many posters at AZ seem to be showing. Perhaps the word should be gloating not glee. In the end, I think we, as pool players, will all suffer from its demise. Just don't understand.

I agree but why is that the ONLY pool project that has been attempted in recent history is a newly INVENTED GAME! Why can't we just have somebody back a professional tour of a game everyone knows....8-Ball? 9-Ball?...How about we use the U.S. AMATEUR format of a mixed set of the two games? I just don't see the point of thinking you have to reinvent the wheel to get people interested..... I mean if Arena Football couldn't be a success, how the hell was Bonus Ball supposed to save the Pool World?....jmho...![]()
Could you please clarify which "BB" you speak of?
This is a thread about the speculated demise of Bonus Ball isn't it?
Lyn
Yes. The threads detailing the possible demise of Barry Berhman should pick up again in a few weeks

I agree that we shouldn't be gloating over any pool entity's demise but I always believe that when one door closes another opens.
I think with the exodus of the pool players from Vegas there will be a short-lived vacuum and given time, the players will rise up from the ashes to be re-born once more like the Phoenix of legend.
