I agree that we shouldn't be gloating over any pool entity's demise but I always believe that when one door closes another opens.
I think with the exodus of the pool players from Vegas there will be a short-lived vacuum and given time, the players will rise up from the ashes to be re-born once more like the Phoenix of legend.

Phoenix was great back 20 years ago, from 91-93 I'd go there pick off the 6's 7's 8's and a few soft 9's for $20-$500 each. Made $$$ every trip(never once did I not make $$ there) the guys had gamble and would step into a game with out knowing if they had the best or worst of it, i respected that. I did lose $$ in some games, but i was in action with 1-4 people a day. There was games everywhere. So when i say i never lost i mean for the whole trip. i'd stay at a good friends house, was always a good time. Golden 8 Ball when David Lee owned it, after it moved. Was there in 88 before it moved, once-broke even(i didnt find a game was just passing thru)
I really liked the pool scene there then, John Showman was there back then as well. It was a good time. Good action and not many nits, I'm not revising history, it was that good for a guy my speed back then, i was a high 8 or a low 9. I play a bit better now when i'm in stroke, I think that I played just bad enough to get in a game and just good enough to win. I wasnt stealing 80% of the time, I'd say 20% of the action I just went thru the motions and gave my customer a good time. the rest of the time I had to play to win or i'd get out played. Tommys in Mesa was good too-but kinda smoky and not as much action. Kolbys just opened when I was on my last trip to Phoenix to play.
those are my Phoenix stories in the BB thread, the what the hell is BB thread. LOL
Fatboy<-------i'm a low 5 if anyone asks:wink: (sadly somedays thats true)
