BBC Cues w/triangular plates

I recently aquired these cues.
They are circa 1921-1939.
I was thinking of having a couple of them restored. The question is. Would this be a wise move and if so who would be best qualified to do the work.
Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Nice set of old cues! Just so you know...creating a new 'custom' cue from one of these old Brunswicks pretty much destroys the collector value. One poster here spent a lot of $$$ having a conversion made, and then was disappointed when they couldn't get their money out of the cue. It was a beautiful job, btw, but the value just wasn't there. They are most valuable exactly the way they are. If you're just keeping them for yourself, then it doesn't matter, but if you're thinking of an investment, then don't do anything to the cues.

Morning Scott.

That is what I was wondering. These are all one piece cues. Rauenzahn did some beautiful work for JKMarshal. I was thinking of just having them refinished and not converted. Sanded to bring the colors back, new wrap and finish, and save the labels. Would this add or detract from the value?

Refinishing the cues detracts from their value as an 'original condition' collectable. The cues you have, are very marketable, as there are several collectors around the country who love these cues.

without any doubt, paul rubino is the #1 guy to clean these up if you want to keep them original.

Hey Chris.

Funny how you never think of your local guy. Rubino lives about 25 min south of me. He likes an oil finish as I recall. Toung oil is nice stuff as long as you are displaying. Its a posibility. TNS is also about 50 min south of me.
Have you pics of a restore that Paul has done??

Afternoon Scott.

If the price was right from any of the guys you have elluded to I might be willing to consider sell at least one cue. Prob the 17 oz as it is the most limited to work with for restore or conversion. I am a packrat when it comes to my cues so it could be painful for me. :)
It took a lot just to list the 3 cues I have on AZ at the moment. OH the horror!!

We've done business before. How's that cue coming that Deickman wanted you to save??? By the way I did get the Touch of Rambow Titlist from the D man. It is very sweet.

Just want you guys to know I am now chomping at the bit. Had to wipe the drewl off the key board. Very nice cues and work. Now I have no idea what to do. I have heard nothing but great stuff about Proficient. Scott was def on my list for a restore.
I take it that sale price was for both cues? If I told you the price I got these cues for you would cry. :)
Well so far I am looking at Proficient, J. Rauenzahn and P. Rubino.
Anything else we can throw into the mix??

sorry, i don't remember you. can't remember my own name sometimes. :rolleyes: i sold both of the 26 1/2's for $1800. are you referring to the rosewood butterfly cue????

I have CRS (Cant Remember .....) myself.
That is the one I am refering to.

i haven't done anything with it as of yet.
 
The BBC cues arrived today.
Unbelievable condition. The only cue without the plates is perfectly staight and purpleheart. Butt is 1.420 in diameter. 13.6mm at the tip. If some idiot didnt cratch and X in the bottom of the butt the cue would be almost perfect.

Anybody out there that can turn a 1 peice cue??
 
Jerry Rauenzahn is restoring my 1914 Ebony 26 1/2 right now. Great guy. Lots of communication and pictures along the way. Plus his work is outstanding.
