As Ozzy said, we are tracking fairly close to last year's numbers. We get a HUGE push on deadline dates and it takes a few days to go through the stacks we have in the office.
It takes some time to verify the entries and to get them processed. The final numbers wont be available for another 3 weeks or so.
We feel the move to the Rio was necessary.
Many people favor the July dates (no school, no Mother's Day conflict) etc.
There is not much difference between Mid May and Mid July weather - it is ALL too hot.
Some of the Northern climates have balked but we feel we can get them back through providing better events etc.
All pricing in Vegas is creeping up - the Rio rates are the same and we think we have some solutions for providing less expensive food options.
Last year was our first year in a new venue - we had a 73 mph storm that blew out electricity for 14 hours and had a lot of other issues that were out of our control.
We feel this year will be better than ever. The pro stuff is very exciting and actually more viable for us.

Vegas in July, they should be giving away hotel rooms![]()
I have been doing this deal for 15-20 years and much prefer the Rio to the Riv. The main issues I see are the air fare is insane compared to what it was say 3 years ago. Vegas in general, now that the economy has come back somewhat for some folks, is much more expensive. I can remember finding $3 dollar tables during the week, now you have to search for $5 and most are $10. Dining has gotten more expensive. Gone are the days where food was cheap just to get you into the casino. In general it is much more expensive to get there, stay there, and eat there now days in most cases.
As far as the heat, I could care less. I'm going to be inside not outside. If I'm not playing, eating, watching the pros, or gambling, I'm probably taking a nap.
I also like the fact there are not any more tokens and you can watch the pros play at no charge. I can't even begin to estimate how much I have spent over the years on tokens and to watch the pros play in the old venue. I do the $50 dollars a day, eat when and how much you like at the buffet. I would spend that much a day even when we were staying at the Riv.
I much prefer the Rio to the Riv all things considered. The only draw back on the Rio is you are not really on the strip and somewhat off the beaten path. Other than that, I think it is a much better venue and will continue to support it.
I recall the day of inexpensive rooms, breakfast specials, dinner special, and world class buffet for reasonable prices. Back than I think the Casino's made out on gaming losses. Today the game plan of the Casino's is to seep rat <--What the hell is a 'seep rat' ?..(did you mean 'separate' ?)..the visitor from ever dime from the moment they step in to any thing in sin city, be it hotel, motel, or ?
Airfare is simply way up -- has nothing to do with the time of the year. Costs me almost $500 to fly out this year. It never used to be over $300 and some years was closer to $200

I remember delivering Structural Steel for the Ballagio in 1997, than walk across the street to the Barberry Coast Casino. Steak, Egg, and Coffee Breakfast Special was like $3.49. Those deals are the old Vegas
there's a big Eiffel Tower across from Bellagio now.
in 2002, i could fly for $200 plane & $130 hotel.
now it's $600 plane & $25-50 hotel. (plus $100 luggage fee)
every hotel offers 2for1 dinners @ $40, 3 course meal.
every hotel offers $100 food credit (3 night minimum).
i don't know what buffets cost.
I have boycotted Nevada since it for OBAMA in 2012, so I don't do Sin City no more..
