I would understand this to be a legitimate question, since BCA members got an email encouraging them to become IPT web members. My guess is that they (the BCA) are on the IPT email advertising list, and the BCA thought it would be a great tool to make money, referring their huge membership base to become IPT web members.

The email you mention is what I was courious about.

People with small minds like Mr ljmoss remind me of why I quit visiting this forum.

By the way, Hi Grady.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE AS A BCA LEAGUE OPERATOR, I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY INSTANCES WHERE THE BCA OFFICE GAVE OUT ADDRESS'S OF ANY KIND. IN FACT , AT WWW.PLAYBCA IS A USA MAP SHOWING THE ADDRESS'S OF LEAGUE OPERATORS AROUND THE COUNTRY FOR PLAYERS THAT WANTTO FIND A BCA LEAGUE TO PLAY IN.
THERE HAS BEEN A COUPLE INSTANCES WHERE THE ADDRESS'S OF THE OPERATORS HAVE BEEN COPIED BY SOME SELF MARKETERS OF BILLIARD PPRODUCTS AND EMAIL SENT OUT BY THEM. THE BCA OFFICE REPRIMANDED THEM AND TOLD THEM IT WAS NOT ALLOWED.
OF COURSE, WHAT WE HAVE JUST DONE IS HASH OVER A USELESS THREAD THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, JUST TO SHED BAD LIGHT ON THE BCA BY THE REFLECTION OF THE IPT?
CHRIST! THATS WAY TOO MUCH!

JUST WHO ARE THESE BCA MEMBERS THAT GOT EMAIL FROM THE IPT, OR ARE THEY JUST PLAYERS WHO HAPPENED TO BELONG TO THE BCA AND THEIR FRIENDS REFERRED THEM THROUGH THE AFFLIATE REFERRAL PROGRAM THAT THE IPT SET UP?
THERE IS A PLACE TO CHECK ON THE IPT WEBSITE TO SEND YOU ALL NEW NEWS IN THE NEWSLETTER. THAT IS HOW I GOT MY NOTICE OF THE IPT PROGRAM AND I AM A BCA MEMBER AND OPERATOR. NO ONE GAVE OUT MY ADDRESS.

Were they business members or player members through BCAPL that got the letter? It was most likely a mailing from Mark Griffin? He's on the BCA board and has direct ties with Diamond Tables.

This is in response to the question/discussion about an IPT and BCAPL connection.

The BCAPL has ALWAYS supported pool events. We were approached by the IPT several months ago (before the non-payment issue) about joining the up-coming affiliate program. We held off when all their money issues began presenting themselves.

After KT's "pop the champagne" announcement (plus several other sources), we felt reasonably assured that the Chicago event would go as scheduled. and the players would be paid prior to or at the Chicago event.

In our wildest imagination, We did not think that KT would make the announcement he did - and then in less than a week do a complete turn around. We feel a little abused. We do not use our site and e-mail lists for frivilous items. We took every precaution we could and tried to do what was best for the pool players - unfortunately we were mislead.

Like everyone in the industry, we wanted the IPT to succeed. This tour created a new "buzz" to the industry and had the possibility of getting our sport the recognition it deserves. It is a terrible disappointment, but much has been learned. Maybe we (the industry) can take advantage of all the info gleamed from this "experiment". And although the IPT future does not look good, strange things happen.

So-there is no "connection" between the IPT and BCAPL - other than we strongely supported the IPT and desperately wanted it to survive. We would do the same for any future "tour" that proposes to elevate the industry. However, I guess we would have to be a little more suspect.

Because of my ties to Diamond and the amatuer pool players, I felt it was my "responsibility" to try and help the IPT succeed. Everyone connected to the IPT has suffered a loss - however, I doubt many have been to the extent that Diamond has suffered. When I acquired the BCA Pool Leagues, I was criticized by some about my motives. I believe in pool and will continue to put my money where my mouth is to help promote the future of our great sport.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mark Griffin at markg@playbca.com or call 702-719-7665 (PST).
