BCA Las Vegas in May

I'll be there!!

large.jpg

This will be my first time as a vendor at this event! I'll be set up in the hall and I'm really looking forward to seeing some GREAT pool, and meeting a bunch of you people!

I'll be at the 'Rixx Images' booth, please stop by and say hello! I'll also be 'roaming' the entire venue, snapping photos crazily I'm sure! Grab me anytime, If you'd like a glossy 8 x 10 made of yourself, or friends.

I will be offering a discount to all Az Billiard members, as far as photos and 'Sketches' go. Stop and take a look at some of the Posters that have been created. They turn out really sharp!

They work great in home poolroom situations too! Have one made of yourself!!

Looking forward to a GREAT week!!

37 days, and counting.....

Maybe I missed it but since it looks like the riv is full can anyone recommend some next best alternatives as far as lodging goes. My first pref. would be closeness to
the venue. And if some one could give me a precise (or as close as possible) rundown of events datewise I would appreciate it as I havent been in many years. Thanks everyone in advance.

The Las Vegas Hilton is across the street from the tournament entrance. It is a bit of a walk in 100 degree heat but there is always a line of cabs and it’s a short ride. The entire hotel facility is much better. Staff, restaurants, casino even the hookers are better looking at the Hilton.

Quite a few of the players stay at Circus Circus. It's across the street from the riv but on the opposite end from where the tourney is. All you have to do is cross the street and then you can walk through the riv instead of the down the street in the heat.

Ok, ok, the Rive ain't the Ritz but here are a few tips for those that stay at the Ritz ah Riv..

1. The Monte Carlo Tower is the closest and the best tower to be in. If you are a gambler and have any clout (like my dumb a$$) call your slot host and request this tower...

2. The Buffet after midnight is not bad. During peak time, it's awful but here is the trick. Around 2 am they change chefs. They make fresh hamburgers steaks, eggs and more cooked to order. TIP, YES, TIP the chef and the food get's better. Another thing, you can get $2.00 off coupons for the buffet at the front of the Casino next to the 20 for $40 where you can pay $20 and get $40 worth of play on certian rigged machines. You also get gifts, pretty nice ones, (they used to be better yrs ago) for playing. This is good for the novality to bring home to the wife, husband or kids.

3. While I am at giving tips out here's a good one.

DON'T LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN YOUR ROOM! Ok, did you hear me? I said DON'T LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN YOUR ROOM! I don't want to hear any horror stories when you get back about the maid did it. The maid WILL do it, so lock it up! Use the safe, bring it with you, or hide it! Got it? In addition, I think there will be a cage to lock your cue up at around the tournament area. Mark, correct me if I am wrong on this. THIS is the best place to leave your cue.

Ok, I'm done for now. Time to watch AI :D

IF you stay @Circus Circus, make sure you get in the tower. They have 'annex' rooms that are in the back & if you get stuck in there it is literally a mile walk to the Riviera. I would clarify that with any reservation. The Stardust is real convenient, right across the street and the exit out of the Sports Book makes it a short walk out in the heat to the Riviera. The StarDust has much better food/service & if you are a fair bettor you can get a great room rate.

Eydie, I'll make you a deal. We can go to your 2AM buffet, tip your friend the chef and :

1. If the food is good, I will buy.

2. If the food sucks (which I still think it will), you can buy & you have to post on here for everyone to see to never eat at the Riviera again.

By the way, I think in the tournament room a can of soda costs $3.00 just so those that have not been there before are aware for what they are in for.

You're ON Buddy! Lol :o (Eydie trying to figure out how to get some raw steaks from the steakhouse at Circus shipped to the chef at the Riv).

As far as the soda goes, I never buy it there. I go to the Splash Bar where I have my favorite waitresses, especially Linda who will give me as much as I wish.

Getting to go this year. Looking forward to seeing the pro tournament, its been alot of years since Ive seen any of those folks play. Pool halls in Vegas, check out Pool Sharks on Decatuer, its a really nice room (nice tables, good atmosphere).

People said that last yr there was a shuttle bus taking people to a pool room from the riv every couple of hours if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure someone that knows what they did & if they're going to do it again will see this and hopefully post a reply with the info.

Then u do not know what u are missing.
They serve 3 or 4 varieties of fish and I recommend Milk fish with rice.Try Ox tail and tell me what u think about it.There several varieties of vegetable preparations.I hope u will like the experience.By the way it is not a fancy restaurant. It is a fast food place with tables and chairs.

If u still like Phillipine cusine u may try it at:
Kapit Bahay. Tel# 702-889-4922.Very inexpensive fast food.
located in China Town Plaza
4115 Spring Mountain RD. Unit 104
Las Vegas
If u eat that food u will NOT like to leave Las Vegas.I do not know how it is supposed to taste but I loved it.

Wow!!!! Thanks for the heads up, man!

The Cue Club was doing this back and forth to the Riviera. Not sure if they are again but I don't see why they wouldn't. Peace, John.

When you're in your room be sure to use the lock that flips over the little ball and prevents the door from opening up more than a couple of inches.

I read a post on here somewhere (I could've sworn it was Melissa Herndon) but I can't find it anyway. Whoever made the post said that she & her mother were rooming together and when they woke up their door was ajar (if I'm remembering this correctly). In the middle of the night while they slept in their beds, their room was robbed. Lock every lock imaginable when you're in your room. ;)

I have never stayed or spent much time in the Riv, except in the tournament and vendor area. The tournament room in the pro arena has a bar for those who want to have a drink. That is good enough for me.

Foodwise, there are so many options in Vegas, honestly, it has never occured to me to eat at the Riveria. I mean, if you are not impressed by the food in Vegas, you are impossible to please.

If you are in for some nice Chinese food, Jasmin is what I recommend. (there is another one in the MGM but I have never been there.) Dont break the plate, they are $500 each. The servers usually take them back before your first course arrives. Try the Peking Ducks. Also the crystal crab, they dont have too many crab so you should make a request when you make your reservation. The view is nice, you can watch the water show as you eat.

Other restaurant I would recommend in the same hotel is the Picasso. All the art work displayed there are real work of Picasso, so I was told. The dessert there is to die for. Service is absolutly top notch. You only live once.

Don't ever make the mistake of eating at the Japanese restaurant in the Mirage. I think the name is Mikado. It is expensive but the food is lousy. You are paying for showmanship and knife skill and once is more than enough.

I think the new strip is much nicer than the area around the Riv, I recommend those who have never been to Vegas to check out the new strip. Rent a car for a day or so, and have some fun.

For the ladies who like to shop, the forum shop, and all the great shopping malls in the new strip is going to drive you crazy. Bring a few credit cards! You dont need a car, they are all within walking distance. Just go to the Forum shop, and start from there.

The Wynn is not too far from the Riv, it is just like the Bellagio in my opinion. If you dont have a car and want to gamble a bit for the first time in Vegas, do yourself a favor, walk over to the Wynn. Dont waste your time in the Riv, there is no comparison.

The shows are nice, I missed the Kia last year and I heard it was really good. I made the mistake of watching the crazy ladies with a few friends at the Riv, dont even bother. Believe me. That is the worst mistake I have made in Vegas.

The Zumanity was a 100 times better show. It has a bit of everything for everybody. By that I mean whether you like men or women and whether you are straight or not, you will be pleased.

The Circu de Solie (spelling) is the best show I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it. I have only watched the one at the O threater. Not sure about the Treasure Island.

I forgot the name but I watched another show by the same guy last year, it was a new show, with a lot of bodies on the roof top, and some very nice classic music. I wish I could remember the name of the show. I think it was in the Wynn.

I want to wish all those who are going to Vegas for the first time a fun memory you will never forget.:)

Its not walking distance but a bunch of us are staying at Treasure Island now known as TI. The RIV and all the other casinos around the RIV are just sh*tholes. I just booked today and it ended up being 155.00 a night for a deluxe room. Unless you really wanna be a pimp then stay at the Venetian or the Wynn

This reminds me of a ridiculous experience I had recently in the Radisson in Valley Forge.

All rooms were out so I had to take a suite. It was nice and quite spacious. But after I was getting ready to sleep, I noticed a half empty bottle tucked under the bottom of the bed table(is that how you call that thing next to your bed with a lamp and an alarm clock on top?). It was left there from the previous occupant. I never touched it during the five days I stayed in that room, and it was never removed. May be it was indeed a fixture in the room?

I ordered some room service, and after I finished half of my food, I fell asleep. I was waken in the middle of the night by a loud knock on my door(mind you I was staying in a suite, and I was eating in my bed room, with my door closed, and a big kitchen and living room between the main door and my bedroom door, so the knock had to be very loud and went on for a long time to wake me up), I though there was a fire. I quickly got my passport and ran to the door, opened it, and saw a room service server standing there saying to me, "I really need the tray from you now!"
