Rick, I think you forgot one thing. The BCA is supposed to be the trade organization for the billiards industry, not the home entertainment and furnishings industry. :)

Didn't forget and I agree with you - however - times have changed

Bestbuy is selling washers,driers,coffee makers
Walgreen is selling laundry detergents, foot care, candie etc.
Things have changed and everybody seems to be having hard times.

PS: BCA may be shooting to compete with Walmart.:cool::thumbup:

(sarcasm) Yes, I heard they were going through a name change to reflect that..

Best Consumer Amusements
The one stop trade show for all your amusement needs

I do need that outside furniture though to go with that table I bought from Drew Carey.

It's been a few years since I went. The show used to be for retailers/wholesalers only. Is it really open to the general public?

Bca -

I have been involved in a lot of the things being discussed in this thread.

I am really trying to decide if I have the time and energy to explain some of the things the were going on behind the scenes.

I agree that the BCA has its problems. They have made some mistakes.
The WPA is in a tough position also.

The US pool scene is in trouble and out of sync with a lot of what is happening with the world pool scene.

I'm goin to think on it.

But I probably will make an informative post on the 'sale of the BCA league system' to clean up some misconceptions that others have posted.

I also do not like misinformation.

Well Folks,

There is only one facet of the BCA dilemma we've not talked about. Who is going to make Hall of Fame selections? If the BCA does not represent the players of the game, why should they select the best of the best players for induction? They seem to have no problem inducting industry leaders. Is this a topic for discussion or has enough been said already about the BCA :help:?

The BCA already gave up the selection to the billiards media and the celebration event to the US Open 9-Ball.

I have it with pool. There's nothing in it worth my efforts anymore. Stick a fork in me. My partner may attend events, but it will be sans JAM.

Will enjoy seeing see my pool buddies locally, but that's it for me. It's disgusting the way the pool monarchy mocks and ridicules anyone from the pool public that dares to ask why things are the way they are, as if our opinions mean nothing. And they will continue to do things *exactly* the way they want, behind closed doors, and ignore the concept that all players should be treated equal.

I'd like to say all good things come to an end, but this ain't good for me. It's extremely upsetting. :(

There's one ending, though, that's now finalized. Stay tuned...

The number-one thing that makes people happy is the strength of our social relations, much like this forum.

If we stop putting so much of our energy into things beyond our control and we take it out of that system and put it into our pool communities and our families and friends, not only do we create less discontent with the status quo, but we can actually have more fun.

Be less involved and do not support entities who cannot demonstrate transparency and equity is actually the simplest way to do this. Eventually, they will be less supported and at that time may understand why their worth is zilch in the scheme of things.

It is almost crazy enough that it might work. Instead of working towards something with huge potential, let us work towards something with huge impact. This way when investors come a looking they can see a fully developed product instead of a fixer upper.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

No, it's not open to the general public.
