Be careful of counterfeits

I musta missed the only real matter at hand when the word counterfeit is used...

?Are the cases made by someone other than the label states?

I started this thread when it was brought to my attention that counterfeit cases were being sold. Since Sterling Gaming is the exclusive distributor of these cases, and since we offer a lifetime warranty, I want whomever partakes in these raffles or wins one of these cases to understand fully that if a problem should ever arise with the product , we will not warranty it.

We do offer a lifetime warranty on authentic J Flowers Tribute cue cases. I would really hate for some one to get one of these thinking that they are buying a case that has met the standards that Sterling Gaming and John Barton have set forth for quality and protection, only to find out that we will not repair or replace their case if it has a defect.

I do not know the original poster, however I have seen the private correspondence relating to these threads and the impression given by the original poster's response is that he knows they are not authentic. I will not speculate about any products he may sell or raffle that I do not have personal, first-hand knowledge of, therefore I have only posted in threads that I knew, for a fact, were perpetrating fraud.

I am not trying to drag anyone's name through the mud. I simply want to make sure that anyone who may bid on these items is aware that they are fakes, as well as preventing someone from intentionally deceiving the buying public and tricking them into buying something that is not authentic and will not be warrantied.

Let me make sure I understand this.
Someone is selling a copy of an extinct cue case.
You are selling a copy of an extinct cue case.
In order to avoid an infringement on someone else's design, copies are often called "tributes" to give credit to the original designer.
Even though this is a long standing concept, you went ahead anyway, and copyrighted the name to try and prevent competition. Now through the pretense of your warranty not applying to someone else's product (No Duh) you are dragging someone else through the mud. What part am I missing?

I think you got it...Your not missing a thing

I am curious whether the person in question said JB or Barton in the threads. I am also wondering why he has not responded to this thread yet....he has posted in other threads.

I have a question here, first John Barton doesn't work for Sterling gaming any longer, and second how can the name J. Flowers be trade marked, did Jay sell them the name before he died? Because you can't trade mark a name of a product produced by some one no longer living unless he sold the rights to the name before he died.

I would like to see proof that the name J Flowers is Trade marked, please post some or a link to a patten!!!!!!:)

Oh and by the way, I kinda find it funny that there is this much drama about a knock off case that is being called a counterfeit, when the cases that are being sold by Sterling are also Knock Off cases and also therefore counterfeit!!!!!!;)

I being a winner in one of these raffles would like to hear from tasaddicts to his response on this claim. Are these indeed fakes?

I don't know how much you have invested in the case, but I will buy it it from you if your not happy, and I don't mean for just what you have in it I will give you fair price.

This thread is a bunch of Bull Shit and an insult to many peoples intelegents, while John Barton did start marketing the J-Flowers tribute cases through Sterling Billiards. He was not the first to start building these tribute cases, Jack Justis was long before John, so what are people going to say that Jack is making fakes if he decided to make more of these cues cases, I don't think so, in fact problems between Jack and John started because John started using the design so whois really making the knock off cases!!!!!!!!;)

Thanks for that insight manwon.
I have not recieved the case as of yet and will keep your offer in mind if I feel I am not happy with it. Its a pretty confusing thread, I dont know what to believe or think. I was under the impression that this raffle was for a J. Flowers tribute case out of the JB Case factory. Perhaps I misunderstood the claim...the original post of the raffle has been altered including the description and picture being edited out. Which led me to post the question to tasaddicts to respond to this.

Headmuses.

I'm a bit of a novice, but I recieved my case that I won and it is a nice case. Sounds like sour grapes or a tall glass of haterade to me??? Than again; I dont know much, I can barely run a rack of straight....

EDIT ::: I was out of line for not believing OP.....

In my opinion they were much higher quality, but the profit margin wasn't there so like everyone else they went where they could make the most money, at the cosy of quality.

When Instroke moved Omega Billiards started having cases made in the German Instroke factory, and some one sued them and production was stopped. If you every come across one of the Omega cases they are just like the Germany Instroke cases as far as quality is concerned.

Take care

Thanks, glad you are happy with your case.

It's a super nice case, IMHO. Even the wifey said it was "pretty"...Seller was really good to me, pm'd me tracking info and all.

EDIT: I was wrong, tsasaddicts scamed me too....
