That was suggested here earlier in the week (by Craig I believe) after Ginky failed to show and I started a thread on Inside Pool.

I think it is a great idea.

In a 6 person group instead of the last 3 getting $5,000 each you can spread it out to 6-5-4 depending on their win percentage. Fail to show up and you automatically get the lowest amount.

It sure would make everyone play his best for every game.

Do you think perhaps the IPT staff picked that up from Craig's post?

Jake

You still have the problem that the last place person when knowing he can't possibly get any better than last will shut down. I devised a scheme similar to yours where each game won in your final group will mean more prize money. I posted it in the Strickland vs. Vandenberg thread.

But if they give up their win/loss % will be affected which is carried over into the next tournament so this isnt an issue?

If Efren loses this frame he wont make it...
Okay, I think I missed something.

How would Efren not make it through if he loses only one match?

Hi Jam. That Mike Matasow-sp. is quite a character. He has been on TV a lot lately. Has a rep for playing good for a long time and then playing very foolish and going off like a rocket all of a sudden. Francisco B. has lost three in a row. He is done...
I hardly ever post on here Jam. Just lurk. But I wanted to thank you very much for all info and updates.............................

The poker player is wearing a T-shirt that has a website printed on the back which is: http://www.mikethemouth.com

He's wearing a hat that says "Fulltiltpoker.net."

I recognize the guy from watching poker... I don't care for him... considering he gets along so well with Mike S, I now understand. I love the woofing and a little bit of concetedness just as much as the next person but what I don't like are people that are so full of themselves that they have nothing to talk about but themselves and it's all BS spewing from them... how great they are, how horrible everyone else is... blah, blah, blah.

In one of my emails from Vegas I was told that a group of people were hanging out at one of the bars last night or the night before and that Mike S kept making calls on his cell phone because no one would talk to him.

You would have had to players on 2 out of 2, it was my prediction but it doesnt matter now he pulled it out the bag, pesky old sod hehe :)

Thanks for the clarification. Are they still doing winning percentage as the tie-breaker? I got confused when Jam posted this...

...Alex, in particular, was so bummed out, very sad. I told him that he can still advance if he wins his next two rounds. I reminded him that they go by the rankings of his play during the whole tournament in case there is a tie...
So I just want to be clear. Is the tie-breaker winning percentage or "rankings during the whole tournament", whatever that means?

The win loss isn't carried over into the next tournament. The total for all tournaments will only be used for the final KOH tournament. At least that's the way I understand it.

and think she means the same thing. I am still under the impression the first tie breaker is the head to head and then the % ratio, but Im too lazy to look it up lol. I am probably wrong but that would seem the fairet way in a two way tie, only needing the % in a 3 or more way tie

Just got finished talking to Luat between matches. He's 3 and 1, and so I said, "You're in like Flynn, Luat," but he was quick to say that only TWO players advance out of the six. So, in order to seal the deal, he must win another match to be a shoe-in.

They are using the PERCENTAGE of the players' previous matches if there is a tie. So those player who did well in earlier rounds can breathe a little sigh of relief. That is why it is NECESSARY to show up and play every single match, even if you think you don't have a chance to advance.

I spoke to Dee Adkins of Ohio who relayed a little happening pertaining to him advancing. Unfortunately for Dee, they posted up the percentages with an error on his percentage. He showed up this morning, dressed in his tournament suit, thinking he was going to play, but due to a "typo" or "error" posted on the board, in full public view, he did not advance, much to his disappointment. They are reviewing the score cards to show Dee that, in fact, his percentage of 59-point-something which was posted earlier was, in fact, done in error. However, on a good note, Dee pockets $17,000 for this tournament.

I heard that there was a ruckus between Dee and the IPT staff but that the IPT was in fact correct and Dee was not supposed to advance. (Just hearsay of course, no proof) ;)

Wow, Adkins must have been sick.

He went to bed thinking he was in the final 18 with at least $30,000 in his pocket.

Marlon Manolo and Thorsten Hohmann on the TV table, and at the time of this writing, Marlon is stuck with 1, Throsten 6.

The Russian Stalev has won 2 out of 4 matches. He told me that he definitely needs this next match to advance. He's such a nice guy, always smiling. I like him a lot and would love to see him do well. However, pocketing $30,000 is a nice score, even if he can't get there.

David "The Maverick" Matlock defeated D. Orcullo, 8 to 5.

David is 2 and 2.

The Russian was happy as a clam out in the hallway, joking around with Keith and me. He pulled out this little small brown bottle which he keeps in his case and told Keith to take a whiff. Keith did so and jumped back. I did too, and it smelled just like amonia. He said that's what he uses to wake up and keep sharp. YUCK!

JAM

Marcus is down 5 to Marcus Chamat who's got 6.

Ronnie Alcano is stuck with 2 against Ralf Souquet who's got 7.

Looking at the charts, as you might guess, Efren Reyes has 4 consecutive wins in this round.

Sounds like something those little old southern ladies back in the day would gladly trade their smelling salts for. :p

Looks like the only American who MAY have a chance to advance is Dave Matlock with a 2 and 2 win so far in this round.

Larry Nevel and Gabe Owen have 3 losses so far.
