Best 9 Ball Break???

Best 9 ball break???

has to be Corey Deuel ! I mean why else would they implement a Softbreak Rule??? he literally changed the game, name someone else who has done that with thier break???

Jeff De Luna has a awesome break!!!

here are others who have awesome breaks

Hillbilly, Archer, Ralf Souquet, Bustamante, Alex P.

Thank you Dave

The late Tony Ellin.

The perfect combination of power and control.

He would regularly make 2-3 balls every break.

It didn't matter where his cue ball ended up, he wouldn't miss anything.

Thanks Dave, I knew some old schooler would have beat me to it.

David Howard
Wade Crane
Tony Ellin...these guys broke em big

Larry Nevel
Charlie Bryant
Corey Deuel...the next generation

Nobody broke em harder than Steve the WHALE, cue ball danced in the lights more than Fred Astaire

I swear i saw this guy 'ICE' (he used to win money by jumping over cars) bang the stack, up and blast the light, back to the table and back up and hit the light AGAIN!

Evgeny Stalev -- crushing the rack *so* hard, you've not heard anything like it

My vote goes to Evgeny Stalev. Evgeny has the most powerful break I've ever seen -- and the most unique as well. Evgeny doesn't throw his body into the break like most hard breakers, but rather winds his arm up like a clockspring, and uses this coiled spring in combination with his pectoral muscle to generate that break.

Check it out; go to 9:20 (9 minutes, 20 seconds) into this video:

(Hopefully I got this YouTube link, with time-jump, correct so that you don't have to scroll forward in time -- the link takes you right to 9:20.)

What a crazy sound that rack makes!

Yang and De Luna.

I heard Jon Kucharo had the most powerful break ever.

That's one I overlooked. Probably because he quit big time pool. He was right there with Breedlove at his best. I suspect John's velocity may have been the fastest ever. I was told he hit 38 mph on a speed gun.

Thats crazy fast....

I would love to see that on a bar box, 38 mph holy cow, sh*t would be flying everywere.....

Amen to what Fatboy said...Mike Mitchell breaks as hard as ANYBODY.............Marc Swisher

> I have to agree with Sigel as having a killer break at his best. He rarely scratched, and with very nice speed (26mph) to boot.

As far as modern era players,Jon Kucharo had the nuts,I watched him hit racks just like this for 2 hours straight. Tommy D.

This is no joke, I think that one of our forum members, Colin Colenso, might have one of the most powerful breaks in the world. I have never seen ANYONE crush the rack as hard as in this video!

Colin, if you're reading this, have you ever gotten around to putting your break under the speed gun?

breaking, do you think the non-english (stun break) is better than an english break (most preferable is 3/4 tip below middle, 3/4 tip left)?

I have studied and debated, with myself mostly, for years.

What is the advantage of putting spin on the cue ball?????SPF=randyg

IMO if Corey had been less concerned with coming up with gimmick slow breaks and had continued to use his old powerful break he had when he was young he would atm be the most dominant player in the USA and possibly the world. If one looks at the last few world 9-ball champions they all got there without slow gimmick breaks and instead used hard controlled breaks. Corey used to have one of the best of those types of breaks and his shooting ability after the break is still world class. If anything his break is hos Achilles heel now, and he chose to make it such. If he ever decides to quit with the gimmicks and go back to hard controlled breaks the world ain't gonna like it.

Hard controlled break producing great results atm, SVB, who IMO is no better a shot then Corey but he simply breaks better due to not being gimmicky and simply using a hard controlled consistent break.
How is using a slow break to manipulate the way the balls roll any different from trying to crush the balls to increase your odds of pocketing a ball?? Let's ban jump cues, too, right?

Stronger or faster break doesn't equal a better break.

The interaction of the spin on the object balls after being hit, and the spin affects how the object balls come off of rails. It also affects, I believe, on whether an object ball will make it to the pocket, or stop short of it by an inch or two.

Spin also affects the angles the object balls come out of the rack. I am not talking a lot of spin, but some. I can do the 8-ball break in 9 ball with no english and come up dry 8 out of 10 times, but with a little inside low english only come up dry maybe 2 out of 10 times. (but I do have 8 different breaks for 9 ball - 4 on each side)

Fact is, many great players have broken great at some time, but that it all depends on when, what table, and how they were at the time. The most powerful break would be the one that ended up being the most consistent over time. Players can break great one day, and then come up dry the next using the very same break. Although the middle of the table is good for squatting the cue ball, it doesn't end up being good if the 1 ball is in the middle of head end rail, does it?

To be the most powerful break for me, only 2 things have to be considered:

1) Does he/she make a ball on every break? or almost?
2) Do they always have a decent 1 ball shot?

I believe some posters are confusing 'hardest' with 'powerful'. What's powerful to me, is a break that does those 2 things listed above.

Not in 9 ball, it doesn't.

10 ball or 8 ball, harder IS better.

On topic, (I'm trying hard to not hijack every thread I post in), Corey Deuel definitely has the best 9 ball break.

He was the first to realize that you don't have to blast them to make a ball....and he was the first to control where the one ball went. He ran a lot of packages in a lot of tournaments, until they started adjusting the rules to take away this monster advantage that Corey created for himself.

Best 9-ball break or most powerful break w/ controlling the rock? If you mean BEST 9-ball break - Corey Deuel and Donny Mills.

Best break

There's been great break artists

Corey for sure re-invented the whole nature of the break.
Johny and Fransico have always been known to be some of the best.
Underated is Alex P. mot pro's would put him in as a stand in for the break.
For pure top spead with top control Wu is difficult to beat.
