BEST Accu-Stats Matches

Somehow, when polls are done on the greatest college basketball game ever, the Duke vs Kentucky game always seems to get the nod over the Gerogetown vs North Carolina game. .

SJM,
Wasn't that the year Georgetown had to beat a great Louisville team (Denny Crum era) to get to the finals (I'm not sure if it was the final four or just a regional final)? Both teams employed a full court press the ENTIRE game. That was the greatest basketball game I've ever seen.

NINE BALL

The Davenport vs. Strickland at the Sands is awesome- Kim does a little dance at the end which is hilarious. The last set of this match is intense; KD wanted this one bad and plays great.

Archer vs. Reyes 11-10 9-ball is a great match with a lot of safety play at the end.

Immonen vs Rempe 11-10 full table bank for the cash wobbling in at hill-hill...

Rempe vs J. Archer these guys battled it out at the Sands finals a couple of times and the matches are real good. They both shoot over .920 in one match.

ONE POCKET

Daulton/Miz funny tape- never could hear what Miz and Shannon were chirping back and forth about. Good match...SD gets a little lucky at the end but his aggressive play is fun to watch.

Varner/Fusco good player review match of old grindin', squeezing one hole.

Alex P. vs. Parica 2000 is a real fun match to watch. Not too much bunting and three times Alex makes a ball on his break.

Bugs vs Parica good match and anything with Bugs is worth seeing. Good commentary also.

Any match that has Freddie Bentivegna doing commentary is usually worth watching.

14.1

I strongly agree with williebetmore that player review tapes are great but they're especially good with straight pool. Rempe, Dick Lane, and Zuglan have all done 14.1 review tapes and they're real good instructional tools.

BILLIARDS

Sang Lee vs. Semih Sayginer this is a great comeback match that goes to the last set.

Sanchez vs Sayginer 03 world cup good match and these tapes look much better than the older Accu-Stats. Most of the 03 tapes are good matches.

The greatest shots you will ever see in your life are on a Artistic Billiards tape with Semih Sayginer and Roberto Rojas. There's also a tape of just Sayginer doing trick shots at SL Billiards but the one with Rojas is the best. Both of these guys do masse shots that will blow your mind and Sayginer is drilling half of 'em on the first try.

Phil Cappele's nine ball book has a whole list of good matches. You can always ask Accu-Stats to recommend one or get a catalog and just order the ones with asteriks indicating they are the more popular matches.

For One Pocket, I must agree on the Pagulayan - Parica match from the 2000 World One Pocket Championships.

As for the Straight Pool, there is a match from the 2000 US Open between Oliver Ortmann and Jim Rempe where one player runs 130-odd, the other responds with a 90-odd and it is one of the tightest, most exciting finishes you're likely to see. Fanastic safety battles, fantastic runs - I highly recommend that one over a lot of the 150-and-out tapes.

Happy viewing

Good memory, Willie. Georgetown did beat a strong Louisville team that had Rodney McCray, Scooter McCray and Milt Wagner in the national semifinal to earn the matchup with North Carolina. The fourth team in that final four was Houston, featuring a rather promising freshman named Akeem Olajuwon.

I'm looking into buying some tapes, but seeing as I'm a rather broke college student I want to spend what little disposable income I have on good matches (i.e. not blowouts). So, I wanted to ask all of you AZB'ers out there what in your opinion are some of the best Accu-stats matches for each game 9-ball, one-pocket and 14.1?
Thanks. :)

My Favorites are:

Sigel 150 and out from the break against Mike Zuglan

Oliver Ortmann and Rempe, Ortman runs 126 and Rempe comes back with a 96. Great commentary Chris Lynch and Jeremy Jones

Rempe and San Souci Player review

Soquet and Reyes, Ralf goes 120 and out with a run that is beauty to watch.

Mike Zuglan and Ray Martin, Zuglan runs 148.

Nick Varner and Grady invitational, Nick has two innings, runs of 76 and 74, amazing to watch him.

Clash of the Titans (not accu-stats) the first BCA 14.1 final in 1966 between Joe Balsis and Irving Crane. Old black and white, quality is not the best, but the camera work is actually pretty good and Irving Crane runs 150 on the old cloth. This is an amazing tape.

The only must see in that video is the last game other than that its a normal match.

I have to disagree. Not only did it go hill-hill with both players shooting great, but it was the finals of a major tournament and it was for the number one world ranking, plus it has one of the greatest finishes you'll ever see.

I like the Parica/ Slivka 1hole match I think from 1997 USOpen of 1p. Slivka OWNS PArica. For the first couple of games anyway!

I forgot to mention that Accu-Stats has a section on their website called special internet sales and are offering a lot of tapes for 50% off. Some good matches including incardona vs mathews one pocket,etc...
