Best All Around Older Player In Ca

No, a little less than that....George and I are about the same age - we used to play each other back in about 1970.....so I believe George is between 57 and 59 - very likely 58.

I agree, Ghost. I first met him in 79 and was told he and I were the same age. I turned 59 in Jan.

ok, it was a no brainer for me as in i didnt read the title.

my input, i asked morro to play 1pocket (not for fun) and he said he doesnt even play, prob disqualifies him, haha.

Wayne Norcross plays good. Straight pool champ from the late '60's and early 70's and still runs a hundred now and then. He's T.D. at DannyK's.

Wayne was a very good player, and not just straight pool. I have a, or more, picture of him at one of the Jointed Cue tournaments in Sacramento (held at the El Rancho) many years ago.

Mike

I think this is him, let me know if I'm wrong. Probably didn't have to say that.

I thought I heard that Morro just played Gary Abood some 1-pocket at HT. Anybody else hear this? Maybe it was 9-ball?

That is Wayne.
Wayne plays straight pool primarily. Played at the world championship at Stardust eons ago.
Wayne is from Philadephia originally and played with Mosconi for exhibition matches.

My break has never been great either and it's much worse now. I even bought a Hammerhead Break/Jump Cue from Ed Ames, and it helps a little, but not good enough to get me barking about playing too much 9 Ball with anyone. You mentioned you still have good eyesight. I have always had to wear glasses and I think I see almost as good now as ever. I played King Kong some one pocket during the tournament up her in June and I back cut a ball to win a game and it drove him nuts. Morro was watching and enjoyed it as much as me, even though he was probably in with Bernardo. He took the heat and raised it for the last game and didn't like that either. It was a small dent in the money they won betting on Ernesto's son Oscar, who is starting to look like a player.

You are right about staying in good health. Too many friends and family are gone. I hope I get to start a thread like this when we are 80. John Henderson

Does Ed Ames get honorable mention for being in the hunt for the title or is he too young?

Yeah he does. Another one that doesn't count. He was in another league than us regular old guys. Of course he wouldn't have messed with any of us, unless he heard we just inherited a few hundred thou. Then he would be our best friend until he got his share.

That's funny. Ed Ames and Cecil mentioned back to back. Last time those two were together was in my poolroom three years ago. Cecil watched me beat Ed a few games of One Pocket and he thought Ed was soft.

He hustled Ed to play the next night, lost, and stiffed him for a couple of hundred playing for 20 a game. Ed was infuriated, and for good reason. Cecil had told Ed that his wife who was sitting there, had the money in her purse.

I had to get between thses two, because I thought Ed was going to kill Cecil when he found out he'd been stiffed. Cecil ends up getting in a beef with me and I have to kick him out never to return. That "crack" is bad stuff is all I have to say. Cecil can't beat anyone anymore.

Very funny, Jay. (But also true)

Ghost, you're only 53!? I'm 62, which means I'll need substantial weight when we match up at the Qlympics. You're going, right?
